Real Haunted House

Gravity Hill

Moorsville, Indiana

About sixty years ago, an elderly woman was making her way up this hill when her car ran out of gas. The woman got out of her car and began pushing it up the hill. She was not very strong, however, and eventually, the car rolled backwards on top of her. As she lie there, injured, an oncoming truck ran over and killed the woman. Today, if one puts his car in neutral at the bottom of the hill, the old woman will push it to the top.

yeah i have been to gravity hill. it really does work you park you car at the end of the hill and put it in nuetral, then slowly real slowly your car starts to roll up the hill. but i dont believe the story i just think that it is a gravity point on the earth.

well, I heard a different version of this story – and personally I like it better… an old lady pushing a car that’s out of gas up a hill?? honestly man.
Anyway, the story is that it was a schoolbus that got stuck on the railroad tracks at the bottom of the hill (out of gas, transmission broke or the driver had a diabetic attack – who knows). Of course this happens moments before a train blasted the bus into next week, killing all the children who were riding in it.
Now it is said that if you were to park your car at the bottom of the hill and on the tracks, sprinkle some flour on your rear bumper and then put your car in neutral – your car will be “pushed” by the decease children’s spirits out of danger and up the hill (and then to Toys R Us). After the car has stopped and you look at your bumper where you sprinkled the flour you will see a bunch of little fingerprints from the children that pushed you to safety.

I just did this last night after a long drive, we even sprinkled the flour on our car and yes it did work. Even in a very large Durango.

Variations on this story are cropping up everywhere on the site, so I don’t think that all of them could be real.
By the way, I am a diabetic and we very rarely attack.

you are right ..this story is in a small town in every state..all these stories on this website could be found at any link on haunted towns..what is here that is any better..

Well first, what “appears” to be the bottom of the hill is actually the top, and you’re not rolling (or being pushed) uphill but actually downhill. It’s an optic illusion and gravity … and no, no one was killed there nor is it haunted but you’re stories are pretty amusing ;-). The flour simply is being blown off / falls off due to the movement of the vehicle.

Now the Haunted Bridge in Avon’s another story … a worker *was* buried there, yes alive. Is he haunting it? That I doubt, spent many night trips there and never seen anything, but it is an uncomfortable place to visit.

Gravity Hill…Oh yes Gravity Hill. The many stories I’ve heard. Non of which I have come to find out are true. I have parked my car at ‘Gravity Hill’, many a times, and never once has my car moved the slightest.

I went to Gravity Hill tonight. We parked at the bottom of the hill and it did work… it started really slowly, then went a lot faster till we got almost back to the railroad tracks. right when we turned around and went over the tracks, a train came… i just thought that part was interesting…. i don’t understand how it’d be an opticle allusion. A friend of mine said big foot was also once spotted near gravity hill… just wandering if this is true also.

Ashley says:

January 3, 2006, 11:56 am

Okay yes this is true, but the stories are all wrong…especially the old lady. C’mon Yeah right. Okay so the story is a school bus full of football players, NOT CHILDREN, crashed at the bottom of the hill and when you go there, AT THE BOTTOM/NOT THE TOP, you turn off the car and the lights. Put the car in neutrul, and yes you can put ur car in neutrul when its off, then the football players push u UP the hill. You can do the whole baby powder or flour and yes you will see their hands, where they were pushing you. Basically the football players don’t want you to die like they did. AWWW how nice.

Cars and tennis balls that look as though they are rolling uphill are actually being pulled downhill by gravity. Optical illusions created by the lay of the land and surrounding landscape fool the eye into thinking that the laws of physics are being defied. There were no murders at any of the “gravity hills” here in northwest Indiana. Sorry folks.

I just went to gravity hill last night, took my girl with me too; when we started messing aroung, we were at the the bottom, but by the time I got up to look around for anyone coming, I saw that we were way over by the railroad tracks!! Next time I go I’m going to record it!

acm says:

February 2, 2006, 4:07 pm

The story I heard is that a busload of circus midgets flipped over and they all died, that’s why you can’t see anyone pushing your car; they’re all too short!

Jessica says:

February 18, 2006, 11:38 pm

Well despite what anyone says about the stories the gravity thing is real. I put the car fowards backwards either was your car goes up hill. Shut the car off and put it in neutral. It WORKS. Plus people live right on this hill. I was amazed by the way the car moved.

diamond says:

February 21, 2006, 6:57 pm

first of all tha story of tha bus full of kids…not on gravity hill thats a totally different story!and yes studies have shown that u’r car is being pushed up tha hill!dunno if tha old lady story is true but it was proved to b a ghost pushing tha car up tha hill!but tha story of kids is infact that a train hit tha bus killing atleast 12 children and when u do put ur car parked on tha traks they do infact push u over to tha other side!i do not think tha spirit from gravity hill meens any harm!

kyle says:

March 30, 2006, 6:44 pm

well I live in Missouri and we have the same exact story of the children in the school bus….so it seems like that is a pretty popular story of how your car goes uphill…Me and my friends are going tomorrow night, so Ill check back in and let you know the whats up.

Mercedes says:

April 15, 2006, 3:03 am

Well there’s the same story in my town…but no one really knows my town, here in Wapato…but the story takes place in Proser.
This lady lived at the bottom of the hill in this old house, and at the top there was a barn….she was sick and twisted, and liked to tourture little kids.
So at the top of the hill in ther can olny imagine what she did, she hung them and of corse the barn had saws an such in there….well lets just keep it like that…and so at night around 3:00am dont ask why 3:00 she brings the kids down from the barn to push you up top so they can try to kill you…they say to lock your doors because they will try to open your doors to get you out…..but the powder thing is ture you’ll see there hands.

But anyway thats our towns story…..

i am from greece, the same phenomenom exists in my country also, in athens there is a mountain called penteli.there if you put your car in an exact poin of the hill it will mouve up the hill without help from anyone. i believe tha this is something of fysical explaination and not paranormal activity.the fact that this happens in many places (as you all say) makes my belief much stronger..

Spencer says:

May 9, 2006, 8:07 am

Ok, now all the stories have are different, they can’t be all true so which one is reeally true? Or are all of these stories happening in different parts. Last how could it be an optical illusion. Everyone who has said that could not know for sure and I am betting they heard this some where and thought it sounded better than ghosts. So please fill me in!

Gina says:

July 11, 2006, 7:05 am

Okay now the Gravity Hill I know of is on 1016 County Line Road in Westville,IN if you want directions look it up on map quest. The story goes that in the 1930’s a school bus full of kids were killed on the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks have been torn out but they will still push you up the hill. Stop at the mailbox put your car in (N) and try for yourself. We even turned the car off and we were still pushed. I dont know why its called gravity hill because there is no hill at all the ground appears to me to be perfectly flat? Now I dont know if the story is actually true but I went there and the photos I took there are proof that something is out there.

Im 17 and even I know that you shouldnt believe everything you hear or read….

ok first of all the address is 1015 E. county line rd. i have done gravity hill a number of times. i rode on the hood of the car while it was happening and i even sat on the trunk once. it is verrrrry real. you can definetly feel something. also strangly enough i thought was that en route to the address above you see signs such as railroad tracks ahead, watch for children. it was definetly scary ****.

I have been to this place several times and I have to say that “mary” the ex-Mooresvilian is correct. I lived in Avon up until 2000 when we moved to Tennessee. I have been to the haunted bridge several times. Never heard anything but there is that “feeling” of something out of the norm there. Gosh I bet that place has really grown in population since I moved.

Bianca says:

September 11, 2006, 8:07 pm

Well I personlay belive this because i have been on the hill and this is just the way i would explane it that the elderly woman pushes it up well if other people dont belive it then they dont but i do cause i acctually been on it. well thats what i think.

a person with a brain says:

September 14, 2006, 7:24 pm

You people are stupid. Look at the wikipedia link posted above. I live 5 minutes from it and have done it. It is no old lady pushing you. After all, she couldn’t even push her own car, remember?

Meg says:

September 26, 2006, 3:01 pm

Ok, my father did a special on this on “Across Indiana.” The haunting is NOT true. There is no such story. I live right by Gravity Hill and it makes me a little annoyed when I hear this story.

First of all, the hill does have gravity. It does not roll up the hill, it rolls the opposite way when you turn your car off and put on your brakes. It only works this way. Remember to use your brakes…you will roll clearly almost all the way to SR 42

That being said. I wanted to let everyone know on some TRUE facts. There is no haunting, it’s been proven by MY DAD, and if there are any questions just ask. It is fun, to just go out and do this with your car though.

Secondly, the baby powder will be blown off by the wind… and when this happens, it will reveal fingerprints.. although, they arent childrens, football players, nor a ladys… THEIR YOUR OWN. The baby powder is like forensic dust.. ( used to get prints off a car or something).. its all stories.. and all of these gullible people believe it.

I have been to Gravity Hill many, many times and it does really work. I don’t believe any of the stories. I believe that there’s just a pull there on the the earth’s surface. I have been reading many comments that others have written and a lot of people are saying that you go the other direction or backwards and actually, when I go there, on Keller Hill Rd., about a mile or so off of hwy 42, I always turn my car around and face back towards 42. i first put on my flashers, I come to a complete stop just at the beginning of this very small incline, I then put my car in neutral, while my foot is still on the brake, then I release the brake and the car will roll forward very slowly. The last few times I’ve been there, it didn’t roll very far, but on other occasions, it took me all the way to the hwy.

Yes – Exqact Directions from Overland Park area to Gravity Hill in Drexel, MO would be really appreciated. I want to go and do some research. Because, although I am a firm believer in logic and refuse to accept these bogus ghost stories, I am stil completely torn apart about this.

I went to Gravity Hill and our car did the usual rolling up — down, whatever — the hill, but then right before we reached the rail road tracks we started rolling down the hill again. If the horizon theory is infact true then how do you explain the rolling forward?!

Anyways — I forgot the direction bc I wasn’t the one driving – so how in the heck do you get there?

KP says:

November 26, 2006, 9:33 pm

…Yes..”Gravity Hill”…Perfect name. If you would like to here what I know its that an old lady ran out of gas and was stuck. Then a truck came and killed her.. I’v never been there but I do think that ghosts are real. If they are not then who are you to be when life disepears? You’d either live nothing or live a ghostly life. If you put your car in nuetrel she might take you up the hill. Its scary to me but also very insteresting. Good luck to everyone who makes it to ..”GRAVITY HILL”

Flamethrowinmike says:

November 29, 2006, 9:44 pm

The truth is you are not going up hill. The surrounding area makes it an optical illusion and it appears that it is actually up hill.I know this because my friend and I went there with his transom to take some measurements to prove this to ourselves. If any of you don’t know what that is, it’s a tool used by engineers to check elevation. You can see people using them at just about any big construction project. The baby powder thing is just going to blow off and show where you, or anyone else has touched the back of your vehicle. It is sticking to the oils left from your hands, just like when they check for fingerprints on c.s.i.

I have lived on Keller Hill Road for over 10 years and I have heard the stories. Some years ago I was talking with a contactor who was giving me a quote for some work. Before he left we were talking outside and he asked if this was the road where “gravity hill” is. I said yes and pointed in the direction that the “hill” is.

He thought it was the right road and told me some years back (perhaps 15 years now) that he was building a house at the bottom of “gravity hill”. When they dug for the basement he said they hit “quick-sand”. He said they almost had the basement dug when they hit this sand and water under heavy pressure.

He had my attention and I asked him what did they have to do. He said they had cement delivered for days and kept dumping it until it stopped! This story was new to me and he told me that he always wondered after that if it had anything to do with the stories about “gravity Hill”. Anyway I just stumbled onto this website a few minutes ago and thought I would post this.

Perhaps there is some unusual geology going on too- the southern glacial drift ended very close to this area. North of us is relatively flat farmland and from here on South are the hills of southern Indiana. as a matter of fact from the top of Keller Hill Rd. you are about 300 feet higher than the surrounding area and can see for many miles South & East through the cleared trees towards the hills near Martinsville.
By the way I didn’t read all the posts here but if you have heard about railroad tracks in your “gravity Hill” story it is not on Keller Hill Rd.,there are no tracks on Keller Hill Rd.

Im from mooresville North Carolina…not Indiana and we have the exact same story too…me and my friends did the same thing and parked the car and put it in nuetral…it did work…our story is the one with the lady and her kid…there car broke down and they had to push it but an 18 wheeler hit and killed them so now there pushing your car to safety. I doubt these stories are true and its probably some gravity pull on the earth since its all over the united states…just like that girl from missouri said she had one, but its still fun to do it.

It’s an optical illusion. Just go to Wikipedia and type in “gravity hill.” It gives very in-depth directions for the one in Mooresville. The Wikipedia article explains the illusion very well; it’s definately not a haunted place or anything like that.

i do really think that this is true because you have more than one person saying that they went and it happened then a lady a said that if you poured powder on your trunk and you look at it then youll see you own finger prints because of the oil then hy dont someone go and wipe the trunk free from your own fingerprints and then pour powder on it and see what happens!

Well, I live in Anchorage, Alaska. We have a gravity hill. THe story is there was a man who killed a bunch of little kids and commited suicide. The house is right in fron of our gravity hill. It’s said if you piss him off that he’ll come into town and kill you. We’ve actually had three unsolved murders about people who have been jerks when they went to gravity hill. I know it’s an optical illusion of sorts, but it makes you wonder after something like that happens.

monica says:

September 14, 2007, 2:02 pm

I went there last December. I’m not completely convinced. What happened was we showed up the hill and put it in neutral. All we did was go backwards. we were not on the big hill, but we did roll backwards over a smaller hill. First off all, the thing i don’t get is why a little old lady (susan i do believe) would even think she could push a car up that BIG hill. I took one look at and said “hell no.” i think the story has been exagerated a little much. i don’t think it was a gohst. it was pure gravity. =)

Heather S. says:

September 20, 2007, 9:14 am

I used to live in Mooresville, and I have heard of Gravity Hill. I don’t believe she pushes your car up the hill, though. The way the hill is, makes it an optical illusion. It looks like your going up the hill, when you are really just sitting there.

A gravity hill, also known as a magnetic hill (and sometimes a mystery hill or a gravity road), is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill. There are hundreds of known gravity hill locations around the world.

been to gravity hill(the one in Westville In) and yes it does work. and yes a bus of school children died there. but we got out a level and its just an optical illusion, when you are being “pushed” uphill you are actually rolling downhill. also if you take a picture of the hill you can tell in the picture it is downhill and not uphill. still fun to try out. PS the most haunted place in indiana is dog face bridge, thats scary as hell.

tiffany says:

I have been to gravity hill.when you put it in nuetral it starts out slowly ,but getting faster and faster about 30-35mph. when you get to the end (still being in nuetral) we picked speed about 35mph and had to brake at the stop sign.this is so true it was on unsolved mysteries.i about flipped when i saw it on there and i told my dad. he said he has also done it.we also done it facing the other way and it pushed us up backwards but much much slower.

Amber Wilson says:

Gravity Hill in Mooresville In. This really does work it is not a ghost it is simply a pull of gravity. if you take St rd 39 its just north of monrovia just south interstate 70 is the hendricks/morgan county line follow it east from 39 1-2 miles you will come to a very large hill in the road at the bottom of that hill is “gravity hill” park in the dip at the bottom and put the car in neutral and it will move the car. However i should warn anyone wishing to try this at night people drive very fast down this road at night and you will be at the bottom of a completely blind hill and with your car turned off its real hard to get out of the way in time to avoid an accident so if you don’t want to be the supposed ghost in the afore mentioned stories keep the car running and use your head someone can get killed on this hill and then maybe you can help peaople push there cars up the hill.

misty says:

Well there a gravity hill in Kentucky. Wonder if they got the two states wrong. It located in Princeton, the railroad tracks is on top of the tunnel. Where you pull up, and see if she pushes you back.
I been there with my family to see what would happen. My sister and I, put baby powder on the front of the car. Her ex bf, put the car in neutral, and we waited to see if we would get push.
Not too long after we climb back in, we were push slowly down the hill till we came to a stop. We got out, and saw hand prints on the powder. Believe me, we even have pics to prove it.
So we try again, and for the second same thing was done. We also try for evp’s, and all we heard was a faint woman voice saying help.
Now some would believe me or not. But I heard she was traveling along one dark night. That her car had broken down. Somehow she remain there, till a man came along. He had suppose to rape and killed her. There in the tunnel.
That she pushes ypur car away from the hill. So that it would not happen to no one again.

Responding to comments of Tom Burkhart posted 12/01/2005, of South Bend’s Gravity Hill on Adams Rd. Actually, this location is within the Granger, IN postal district. Location for testing this illusion was best achieved at a point beginning about 1/2 mile east of the Ironwood Rd. intersection on Adams Rd. There, on the north side of Adams road is an intersection with Mercury Dr., the main street leading into Forest Hills Park subdivision. At this point there use to stand three huge, old hickory trees. What we use to do was head west from this point, next to the trees, from a complete stop and vehicle out of gear-in neutral. It was important to do at night so as to reduce the visual cues. Natural gravity pulls your vehicle downhill but at night time you would swear you were going up hill. Very realistic.

The road has a gradual downhill slope westward from this starting point for at least 1/4 mile or more before it drops off steeply and then disappears before its T intersection with Ironwood Rd. The visible westward horizon, back in the day, was miles away across the entire width of the St. Joseph River valley to its opposite western ridge. This further reduced the visual ability to compare terrain features to, and increased the illusion.

Another variant to this trick was to begin at this same starting point, only headed eastbound. Again, from a dead stop, in neutral, lift your foot off the break and you would roll backwards. The visual effect was even more alarming as the road in front of you appeared to be sloping downhill as you were moving backwards from it. Oh yeah, this road use to be remote and rarely traveled at night, so we would turn our headlights off for a really frightening added effect. And of course, as is the finishing touch to complete any great illusion……

as with experiencing any good illusion, it helped to be in a good frame of mind, with like minded compatriots. It was not as important to want to believe, as was the significance of keeping an open mind with an imaginative reference. “So stick that in your pipe”…yada, yada.

Could anyone please give me some directions? : ) Thank You!

The gravity hill outside Mooresville,IN is real. I have been there and the car did roll backward a good distance. But there are no ghost, trust me if there were I’d never drive that road again! Some say it’s a magnetic force underground pulling the car, if that were the case why is it that the car will only move if you are west bound? Has to be gravity of some sort. My Mom didn’t believe it, we took her there and she swore we had rigged a rope to pull the car when she wasn’t looking. She got out of the car and watched it start to roll, the boogey man didn’t get her either.

Mark Magliola says:

Hi Catie,
If your looking to find the Gravity Hill in South Bend, IN. Head north on Ironwwod RD towards the Michigan State Line. One mile north of the four-way stop at Auten RD is the Adams Road intersection. It’s a “T” intersection-you can only turn right(East) onto Adams. Head east on Adams RD for about half a mile to the first Forest Hills Park entrance & you’ll see two huge old hickory trees there. That’s where you’ll start from. Good luck.

The gravity hill I know is in Westville IN. It is nearby Purdue North Central on highway 421. Always works, similar story. A man with his 2 daughters gets stalled and they all push with the girls in the rear and pushing and steering. He slips under the door car rolls over the girls.

i went looking for gravity hill last night but couldnt quite find it. im going next weekend though.
everyone i have asked said it works. you put your car in neutral and it starts going up the hill, however, if you begin talking or making any noise it will just stop.
now i dont believe in ghosts, i went to payne road last night and saw nothing..but from what i hear gravity hill actually works.
and about those handprints…if anyone has touched your car then babypowder will make finger prints show up…crime scene investigators use something similar when they dust a crime scene for fingerprints.

Directions from wikipedia…..I remember this from when I was a kid….very cool!

Mooresville, Indiana; starting in Mooresville, head West out of town on High Street (2 blocks South of Main), which becomes State Road 42. Take the first right onto Keller Hill Road, and go approximately 1 mile over a few small hills. Stop at the big hill, there is a silo right before arrival at Gravity Hill. Line up the front with the large old tree on the right, and put it in neutral. The car will roll up the hill.[

rachel27 says:

June 7, 2008, 8:42 pm

okay Tim, 1) your story sounds like ****. 2) just because it’s an old lady doesn’t mean she can’t push the car. she’s a ghost. she can do just about anything.

but about the story..

i have done this. it works. i went with my cousin one night because i didn’t believe her. she put her car in neutral and we began to go up the hill. it started off slow but it began to get faster. then the next i wanted to show my best friend so my cousin took us again. and it happened again. later, i found out that my cousin had taken one of her friends later that week and her car began to go up the hill but then died. my cousin will not go back to gravity hill now. this story is VERY true.

Well, i live in Anchorage Alaska and i do not believe that it is an optical illusion. there is what people are calling a “gravity hill” here but the hill is sooo big its impossible for it to be an optical illusion my truck was pushed backwards up a hill and we were almost completely diagnol. It went up to 15 miles an hour. PLz. somebody tell me thats an optical illusion.

Kokomoparanormalhunters says:

September 25, 2008, 12:42 pm

I have been there. This hill is on of the reasons I helped start Kokomo Paranormal Hunters. Me and a friend arrived late one night and put the truck in neutral. We rolled all the way to the stop sign in neutral. The laws of gravity do not apply here as my truck had a bed full of firewood. There are alot of tall hills here that gravity might defy but weight and mass of my truck would have negated. So in the spirit of an investigation I tried it the other way. Guess what it worked. Is this place haunted? Could be, but I do know that entities, be it old woman or children or midgets, can move up to 300 times there would have been body weight. On another note my wife at the exact time i was doing this was coming home from work and hit a deer. Whats funny about this was while we were on experiencing this a deer got spooked by us and ran in the direction of the road she travelled from work.

Gravity Hills are optical illusions created when there is an obstructed horizon so our eyes can’t really use a reference point to tell whether the slope is an incline or a decline, gravity hills are created when there is obviously this obstruction of the horizon and the surrounding land masses and land features make it appear as though the slope is inclining while in reality it really is a decline. There are hundreds of these type of hills around the world and thousands of supernatural stories that have come of age relating to these hills. So it really isn’t an old lady doing community service from beyond the grave ๐Ÿ˜‰

hello everyone. As far as how to get to Gravity Hill. Drive through Mooresville on what is called 144 turns into 42 after the other side of Mooresville you will cross a bridge. Take the next right. That is Keller Hill Road. Drive down Keller hill road till you find a BIG hill you will know it when you get there. Best thing to do is turn around and go back down the hill. When you get to the bottom of the hill there is a little hill right after the big hill. Put your car in what seems to be the “valley” between these two hills and put it in neutral. Your car will roll up the small hill. I have actually been pushed up the hill and after that coasted all the way back to 42. As far as the flour on your car and hand prints I have never tried that. I have been there many times and next time I go I might try the flour. If anyone needs more directions please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks

You naysayers can’t just say, “oh that’s not exactly what I believe but everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” instead of tearing apart other peoples’ beliefs? Jeez. I believe in ghost and things of the sort because that was my up-bringing. Therefore, NO ONE is going to be able to make me believe that my family was wrong and that I am wrong. But I do not tear apart people that don’t believe. They have every right to look at things logically and scientifically and try to explain things. And others have the right to believe in ghosts and have some excitement in life. Lighten up world.

At the risk of being a buzzkill, I need to remind everyone that many of the more popular ‘gravity hills’ are monitored by the police – they may ticket you for obstructing traffic or whatever. Know Before You Go!

Ok this is truly hilarious ok I’m a life long resident of mooresville and gravity hill is one of the only attractions in our town but who’s really interested in a simple gravitational abnormality so a groupe of the kids at the high school (me included) made up this story and spread it around and later posted on a couple gohst blogs I had no idea it became so widely bealeaved. Also there were no train tracks in the area at any point in the towns history if your looking for a real haunt in the town try the town antique market (some creepy sh*t goes down in the basement) or john dillingers home ( not hauted just cool)

Yes this story is a good one..but not true in that sense…just watch fact or faked it tell how it is an illusion and you are actually rolling down hill.

Ok this is so not true. But if you like getting scared go to Jappa. It resides in the Tri-country area just north of moorseville. (Take the road that Sonic sits on in Camby west and follow it until it T’s then make a right, then take the first road on left after you cross the bridge [goes over I-79]) Here resides your nice little Satanist. If you go to the Church/Cemetary you will be chased out. There is a house that sits backwards also known as the 666 house, it has no windows or doors (in the front) but on certain days of the year you can see people lined up on the street in single file, not speaking, just walking into the house. Have fun! Not liable for anything that happens lol! I’ve been chased and my cousin, who lived on that road I mentioned(after you go over the bridge) was chased for while riding his fourwheeler. Enjoy! =^.^=

I have been here to. I was 13 and i tlked my mom and dad into getting their friends together and going to alot of supposed haunted places. there was 45 of them we went to. about 15 of them were complete fakes. but this one was compleatly true. i was in the back of the van and we put it in nutral and it rolled backwards… but this sudden jurk hit and the van began going up hill. we got to the top and waited for what felt like 30 more seconds and we heard this loud cry/ sceaming sound from like a few feet away. following that was like a noise that sounded like someone had hit this huge pot hole. it was crazy. i got out and found hand prints on the van as well. no one else has heard the screaming as far as i know.. but sit at the top of the hill for eh.. about 30 seconds then youll hear it.

Gravity hillFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search “Magnetic Hill” redirects here. For other uses, see Magnetic Hill (disambiguation).

Magnetic Hill in Orroroo, South AustraliaA gravity hill, also known as a magnetic hill and sometimes a mystery hill, a mystery spot, or a gravity road, is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill against gravity.[1] There are hundreds of recognised gravity hills around the world.

The slope of gravity hills is an optical illusion, although sites are often accompanied by claims that magnetic or even supernatural forces are at work. The most important factor contributing to the illusion is a completely or mostly obstructed horizon; without a horizon, judging the slope of a surface is difficult as a reliable reference is missing. Objects one would normally assume to be more or less perpendicular to the ground (such as trees) may actually be leaning, offsetting the visual reference.[2]

The illusion is similar to the Ames room, in which balls can also appear to roll against gravity.

The opposite phenomenon รข?? an uphill road that appears flat รข?? is known in bicycle racing as a “false flat.”

Gravity Hill is an optical illusion, nothing supernatural about it, but it does feel as if you are rolling “uphill”. From RT 14 in Sterling, take Main Street north until it intersects with Snake Meadow Rd. At this point, make a U-turn, and proceed to the 35 MPH Speed Limit sign on the right. Once at the speed limit sign, inch forward to the first telephone. At this point, put your vehicle in neutral. and let mother nature do the rest. Admittedly, it does appear that your vehicle is slanted slightly uphill but your vehicle rolls forward.

yes gravity hill is very real.. I went last night around 3 or so in the morning. we turned the car off and put it in N we put the cars back tire in this pot hole and with in the 5 seconds we turned the car off is started moving. we could hear the old lady’s foot steps.. we went up hill then down hill going 5 mph then we picked up speed to 20mph and went over a bridge and a lil ways after the bridge we stopped infront of the old old lady’s gate way that lead us to her house. it a long trail. but we also started the car and we stopped in this gravel road a few feet from where we stopped and all of a sudden a few rocks hit the car. then we all got out of the car and looked at the trunk and there was a lady hand print but then there was a kids hand print too.. we aren’t to sure about the kid but the lady pushing the car only had one hand print !
