Gravity Hill
About sixty years ago, an elderly woman was making her way up this hill when her car ran out of gas. The woman got out of her car and began pushing it up the hill. She was not very strong, however, and eventually, the car rolled backwards on top of her. As she lie there, injured, an oncoming truck ran over and killed the woman. Today, if one puts his car in neutral at the bottom of the hill, the old woman will push it to the top.

ok I live on top of Gravity Hill. So, first off, your car does NOT roll up the big hill known as “Gravity Hill” it rolls the opposite diresction, towards SR 42.

Okay now the Gravity Hill I know of is on 1016 County Line Road in Westville,IN if you want directions look it up on map quest. The story goes that in the 1930’s a school bus full of kids were killed on the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks have been torn out but they will still push you up the hill. Stop at the mailbox put your car in (N) and try for yourself. We even turned the car off and we were still pushed. I dont know why its called gravity hill because there is no hill at all the ground appears to me to be perfectly flat? Now I dont know if the story is actually true but I went there and the photos I took there are proof that something is out there.

No it was not football players,an old lady or soldiers it was a bus of little kids and they did die on the hill or road (whatever it is), I dont know if the “Gravity hill” story is true or not but the TV show “Ghost Hunters” has proved that it actually did happen!
Im 17 and even I know that you shouldnt believe everything you hear or read….

ok first of all the address is 1015 E. county line rd. i have done gravity hill a number of times. i rode on the hood of the car while it was happening and i even sat on the trunk once. it is verrrrry real. you can definetly feel something. also strangly enough i thought was that en route to the address above you see signs such as railroad tracks ahead, watch for children. it was definetly scary ****.

I have been to this place several times and I have to say that “mary” the ex-Mooresvilian is correct. I lived in Avon up until 2000 when we moved to Tennessee. I have been to the haunted bridge several times. Never heard anything but there is that “feeling” of something out of the norm there. Gosh I bet that place has really grown in population since I moved.

You people are stupid. Look at the wikipedia link posted above. I live 5 minutes from it and have done it. It is no old lady pushing you. After all, she couldn’t even push her own car, remember?

Ok, my father did a special on this on “Across Indiana.” The haunting is NOT true. There is no such story. I live right by Gravity Hill and it makes me a little annoyed when I hear this story.
First of all, the hill does have gravity. It does not roll up the hill, it rolls the opposite way when you turn your car off and put on your brakes. It only works this way. Remember to use your brakes…you will roll clearly almost all the way to SR 42
That being said. I wanted to let everyone know on some TRUE facts. There is no haunting, it’s been proven by MY DAD, and if there are any questions just ask. It is fun, to just go out and do this with your car though.
Later.

First off… its just a gravity pull. Secondly, the baby powder will be blown off by the wind… and when this happens, it will reveal fingerprints.. although, they arent childrens, football players, nor a ladys… THEIR YOUR OWN. The baby powder is like forensic dust.. ( used to get prints off a car or something).. its all stories.. and all of these gullible people believe it.

DEAR MEG,
MAYBE YOUR DAD THINKS HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, BUT YOU SURE DONT. I HAVE BEEN THERE. I GREW UP IN MOORESVILLE MY WHOLE LIFE. YOU MADE THE COMMENT THAT “IF YOU DONT USE YOUR BRAKES, YOU WILL ROLL RIGHT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF 42.” GUESS WHAT…WRONG WAY DEAR. YOU ARE TO FACE AWAY FROM 42, AND YOU STOP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, TURN OFF YOUR CAR (MEANING AT A COMPLETE STOP) PUT IT IN NUETRAL, AND WAIT. NO BRAKES INVOLVED. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU TRY TO SOUND COOL.

WE HAVE A GRAVITY HILL IN JACKSON TWP. NEAR WESTVILLE, IN. IT DOES WORK, HOWEVER, I THINK IT’S AN OPTICAL ILLUSION, ALSO. HAVEN’T HEARD ANY STORIES EXPLAINING IT. IT DOES MAKE A GOOD CONVERSATION PIECE THOUGH, AND A PLACE FOR TEENS TO CHECK OUT. I THINK EVERY SMALL TOWN OR RURAL AREA HAS A GRAVITY HILL.
