Hi,

I’m in need of some help. I’m doing a documentary on the Masonic Boys Home in Guthrie, and I need to know if there’s anyone who would be willing to share their experiences… past and present. I would love to have a local perspective as well. This is not a malicious act against the home. I simply want to document a story. Also, if anyone has any pictures of the home before it was redone (and can send me a link to them), it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

PLEASE let me know if anyone can help me!!! I’m looking to shoot this weekend (9/22/06).

Hi my name is ashley and i used to live in guthrie when i was younger and my mom my aunt and i used to go up to the masonic home and phyllis is right part way the home was for boys AND girls. But any ways we used to go up there almost every night pretty late and we would watch it through the windows and their really are figures that appear in the windows and disappear. Lights would really turn on and off and the place did send off creepy chills. I havent been there in quite a while so i’m not sure what it looks like now but i do have a few pictures of what it use to look like. But all in all the place was beautiful even though it was closed down and borded up. I love that building and wish i could have gotten it or atleast got to go through it but who knows maybe one day. As for the hospital we went there too and took pictures and waited but i dont remember seeing any figures just the same thing going on with the lights: on and off. Both of the buildings were pretty cool looking then but like i said i dont know any more i havent been down there in a while. But i do plan to go back down there one day to see them again Because they were very beautiful when i lived down there i remember that they used to have the look of some thing old but the look of having alot of memory in them two. If you go to see them just look dont go to see if you break in cause it just ruins apart of history. The building used to be awesome to look at late at night. Thanks, Ashley

My Cousin is having his wedding this weekend (9-23-06) in the garden. They have really made the place look awesome. We walked though part of the building and i did get some wierd vibes about the place, i personally dont believe in ghosts, but nonetheless its creepy. The old playground equiptment on the east side of the property was eerie to say the least. I would have loved to go into the building before it was renovated. My other cousin told me stories about it. Evidently they have torn down several parts of it. Here is a link to what the building used to look like, and what it looks like now: http://www.dominionhouseguthrie.com/history/historyimage.jpg.

Quite a change. He told me that people have sacraficed animals in the old swimming pool too, Probbaly not though. They did infact fill in the pool and its now a ballroom used for indoor weddings and such.

On the other hand, The Hospital, I, like many of you, have heard its haunted. Also before they tore down the old Santa Fe Railroad station below the bridge it looked really creepy and haunted.

My husband grew up n guthrie and i have been n the orphange a million times. There was a room we called the blood room because the walls were covered in blood one night and the next the blood was gone. We had a little girl follow us around and tell us to protect her. A man came out of one of the fireplaces and we ran!! Also the masons used to hold seances in the room next to the bell tower. It had a huge pentagram on the floor and we were actually chased from the place when we interupted one night. That place definitly had some strange stuff just like the whole town

For you people who want to know about the “boys home” and the old hospital you need to know both are very protected! There is no avoiding as one person says “the pigs” in these places. The law will press the law to the fullest extent. So if your thinking of visting these places and thinking of avoiding the law think again your not! You can try and I will visit you in the local jail wether the county or city! As we say here “enjoy your stay in the local city hotel, enjoy your stay” Then I will say to you face to face “I told you so” As far as mass murders at the boys home that is just a rumor, as one person said they were taken very good care of. As far as the old hospital good luck on that one If you wants chills and thrills you will experience it in the local jail! So see ya there !!

ok i live in guthrie. the guy that renovated the old boys home name is Calvin, my dad knows him, he works at the guthrie airport and is doing alot of stuff with jets and all the jazz, he is very rich. The place is gorgeous now, i vaguely remember what it looked like before he fixed it up but it was creepy. ive only been to the hospital once, never gone inside but its scary just looking at it in the middle of the day!

the masonic scottish right temple is pretty wicked also, we do alot of stuff in there for choir and when we get the chance me and my friends sneak off and explore. apparently its haunted, the janitor died under a light fixture putting in a light bulb, and my friend claimed she saw him one night, while exploring, and shes not one to lie or even believe in that stuff. trust me its spooky.

i’ve been to many supposedly haunted places, back several years ago. but, the only place i actually saw or heard anything unusual was the haunted masonic orphanage in guthrie. we went when there was a trailor behind it, after it had been bought out. there were like 5 of us and we all stopped dead in our tracks and looked at each other at the same time, jaws dropped and wide eyed. we were right by the room with the locked door, that we never could get in and we all heard children screaming. it was unlike anything i’d ever experienced in any supposedly haunted place. it was insane!

Well I think most of you are confused. I don’t know anything about a “boy’s home” in Guthrie, but I was one of the children that lived in the Masonic Children’s Home, and i don’t remember it being haunted. The Mason’s were very good to the children there. Yes, there was discipline but no abuse to my knowledge. I was there from 1965-1971 and thank God i was there and not in some foster home. As I remember it, we were given everything that a child could ever want accept for parents. And also taught about Jesus for which I am most grateful.

Okay everyone, I used to attend the Job Corps Center in Guthrie Oklahoma back in 1998. I had heard several stories about the place. For instance, There was a nurse who used to take out her anger on the children. Children were treated nice to the every day passer by. But behind closed doors was another story.
It is said that back in its history, children were abused and locked in rooms… especially the infirmary. when children got ill they were all thrown in a room and locked…some children died because of the lack of medical attention. Mind you there werent laws like there are today…the state didn’t do routine inspections like we know our state would do today.
Well, there was a night me and my closest friends, (about 6 of us) hopped the fence at job corps, and decided to go check the place out… A friend of mine had been there and swore the place was truely haunted.. But me a HUGE SCEPTIC, was just along for the ride (away from the job corps campus)
Well on this particular night it was pouring down rain…by the time we got there, we all were soaked and partially covered in mud. At this time there weren’t really too many obsticals when getting inside.. We entered the back through a window that was partially boarded….we had flashlights…and the second we entered, my friends started feeling spooked, but me the sceptic just wanted to explore the place.
Well, we started walking in some of the rooms that the west wing i think. And I could faintly hear some whimpering whispers… to me it sounded like a little girl..but It didn’t really spook me. The further we wandered, at one point, it got terribly cold, i mean COLD. we were in the long hallway on the second floor and all of a sudden all three of our flashlights went dim….almost completley out. My friend said SHHH listen..then we heard some footsteps slowly approaching us..but could no see a thing…thats when I really started feeling as though the rumors weren’t false…well we were all frozen stiff and then out of no where all you could hear is what sounded like 3 or 4 little children screaming… I mean screaming like they were being hurt.. thats all it took all 6 of us ran down stairs and headed back to the window we had entered. We were about 10 feet from the window (running) and all of us heard a little voice say “hurry she’s comming” we got out of there shoving each other out the window to the point some of us landed face first in the mud….we didn’t care!
I was in tears when we got outside and shaking terribly.
Our goal was to go to the bell tower, we never made it. But as we walked away from the place we all just stood in awe of what we had experienced…. My friend shouted look….and he was pointing at the bell tower. And all you could see was a dark shadow that definatly wansn’t translucent. we ran all the way back to job corps and didn’t stop….I had nightmares about the place for a while, and realized I was convinced that there was truely something paranormal about the place…
A few weeks later some other friends of mine said they were going to jump the fence (of job corps) and go check the place out themselves, I pleaded with them not to… But I guess people have to experience things for themselves.
Its crazy to think someone has renovated the scarey place….I don’t care how nice it is today,,, i will never go there again.

When I was 17 I am 42 now I was in an abusive relationship and women like this or teenagers with no place to go would have to go stay in the old Hospital, I knew nothing about it, upon entering that long drive it was the scariest and creepiest thing I was scared to death, I seen a red light on the second floor, I didn’t ask anyone what it was, in my mind I thought people were working on maybe other levels.
Upon entering there was very little light used in the Hospital and a very small section on the first level there were only about six of us there total including the two person staff. We were not allowed to roam on other levels of the Hospital of course and confined to a small hallway with a couple of rooms that we used. I remember always hearing strange noises at night and seeing shadows you could hear people walking around upstairs. Everything about that place was spooky and even back then the police patrolled it and was there. I would never want to go back inside of it again. I was there for about four days and could not wait to get out of there, I could not sleep because I was so scared at night.
Funny no one mentions Job Corps, I always believed Job Corps was Haunted also, that was once scary property with a history.

I used to live on N. Osk street, a few blocks away from the childrens’ home. When I was younger, a few friends and I would screw around behind it after we were done fishing at Bird creek (Back when there were fish in it, anyway). A friend of mine and myself BOTH found two graves back there under some trees. But we can’t find them again. Anywhere. Really weird.
