there is a place in guthrie called the bluffs at the north most end of pine past dolese.when i was a kid we would target practice out there.i took a walk off by myself while everyone was shooting.i was near the old cave that was a hideout for the doolin gang,when i heard a horse walking behind me.this didnt bother me,people rode there all the time.i kept waiting for them to go by me,but every time i stopped the hoofbeats did too.i thought someone was being a smart-*** so i turned around.there was no horse or anyone.this unerved me but i thought i probably heard something else.i didnt thnk about ghosts or anything at that moment.i started walking again and then the hairs on the back of neck stood up cause the hoofbeats started up again.i went into a jog and so did they,i broke into a dead run and so did they.i hit the little turn off that road to the left down to where my family was and the second i got off of that road the hoofbeats stopped cold.again i turned around,really hopeing to see someone,something,anything that could explain what just happened.nothing,nothing there to help me understand.i didnt tell anyone for years.not for fear of redicule but that it affected me so much.

I went inside with my great aunt, and three cousins back in 1994. It was very dirty and old. We explored most of the rooms. We went down to the swimming pool and the dorm rooms as well. I was the youngest and dumbest so when we got to the highest level, I climbed into the very top of the tower and could see over the rest of the orphanage. It was very dirty and had been badly vandalized. You could tell many people had been in there with spray paint. We had a good self guided tour and left. No ghosts. The only creepy thing was the vandalism, apparently done by real creeps. We were stopped by a police officer. My great aunt told the officer that we were just looking around and that it was a really interesting building. She also told him that she was a judge in the state of Tennessee and we went on our merry way after he told us to be sure and not go inside again.

I Have a very good friend that is a Security Officer at the Oklahoma City Zoo, He claims that he and other Officers have seen a women in the early morning hours with long dark hair by Aquatics center and when they go to investigate she is nowhere to be found. This has happened several times. I have tried to find what may have happened in that area but have had no luck.

I’ve lived her all my life..52 years and i’ve known people who actually lived there. i agree…it’s folklore. But one day my daughter and i drove to the rear (before it was bought by a private person) and we walked around in it. It was in a terrible state of disrepair but I’ll admit it was weird. We saw nothing or heard nothing, just an old place with the usual noises. It was daylight not darkness. All the same, I don’t think they could have dragged me in there iat night.

I never got the chance to see this place before it was renovated. My wife said it was really creepy. It looks like a good place for some ghost stories, but none of them are true. My wife did a report on the legends for a folklore class. After a lot of research, she found and talked to many people who lived there. The children were treated very well even after they were too old to stay there. There were no bodies found in the basement and no murdering headmistress. Creepy places tend to get embellished and anyone who “sees” something there just wants to or is making it up. There are many more haunted places, but this is not one of them. All the “stories” are not true.
