Lived in Guthrie my whole life and I just love to hear all these nonsense stories. The Mason Childrens Home is 90yrs old, of course you would have seen runned down, old, tore up property. SO CREEPY. The stories you year from when it was a foster home, i'm sure are fabricated and not everything YOU heard IS true. Yes, terrible things happened. HAUNTED? doubt it.

Brook..I didn't mean to imply that the boys home wasn't creepy.Since it was bought and turned into a private residence I've not heard of anything paranormal happening there.I've been in there when it was abandoned but haven't witnessed anything myself. When I was younger, I'm 52 now, the talk was of the place the Job Corps bought from the church. But being interested in the para-normal and knowing what I know now, I wouldn't stay the night in the old, boys home. DG

Say what you want, but the Children's home is evil. I lived in Edmond and a friend and I both decided to do a paper on it for school. We went in with her Step-dad and my mom. Our parents were as terrified as we were. The pool was creepy, dark stains on the bottom. While we were there, there was a film crew from one of the colleges doing a documentary. We tried to keep away from them and research on our own. We found rooms on the thrid floor with old wash basins with what looked like dried blood in them, burnt impressions on the floor, satanic paraphenalia, etc. The tombstones out back were the saddest and scariest things I have ever seen. Some of them were for children less than a few months old. The boys ran a printing press in another building on the property. The equipment was still in there, frozen in time. This place has some pretty remarkable history, if only you could find someone who really knows about it to talk to you.

Brenda.. that wasn't a ghost pulling off the covers and touching you. That was proably Beckey Luker trying to keep business up. She's a publicity nut and calls all the news channels around halloween to get a story. The real place is the Job Corp whare the old nuns used to live. The stories that came out of there beat every other one I'Ve heard. They said they found skeletons of babies that the nuns had then killed. When I was young that was the gossip around Guthrie. I've lived here all my life and I was born in the old hospital. Come to think of it... maybe that's what's wrong with me. huh

Hello all...I've been reading all of the posts on the old Orphanage and was excited to see that others had been there as well. I did not experience anything at all on my many visits to the orphanage and hospital but I do remember the fear and excitment it all produced. When I was in High School my best friend and I would go on a regular basis, I do remember the indoor pool which had maybe one or two original tiles left on the ground the rest of which were missing and the view of the elevator that was in the room just below ground level. I remember thinking that even when it was working I would never have used that elevator. We only went itno the orphanage once and out of fear of the building collapsing or a random rodent running by didn't stay very long, not to mention when going up the back steps a small wall hides your view from your vehicle which leaves too much to the imagination. I do not agree or disagree that it has any activity but a few of the posts suggest a great "sadness" in that place...I tend to agree. I always felt drawn to that place and the view from the back of the building at the many closely nit doors inside on the 3rd level...as though something was drawing me in. I know, sounds silly but whether it be "normal" or "paranormal" that building with a delapidated carriage out back and iron gate out front is the thing that legends are made of. If I could only visit it again the way it was driving down "Elm" street in the middle of the night when your headlights hit the gate and building at the end of the street I would be happy. The only question I did have for anyone else is if the Chapel building is still there...

I grew up in Edmond and I can tell you I visited, "The Orphanage," many times. In the 90's the building was not equipped with motion sensors and camera's. The cops never even bothered driving by because the place is so enormous. We crept into building and hall ways in the pitch black only to leave with memories that even to this day you can't put into words. The very back building we discovered was a morgue. My friend and I wanted to do a report on the history and found some general bricks with names all stacked into ONE PILE. We brought some to research names and unloaded some on the front porch of my friends house. My mother paged me only to learn that as we were instructed to immediately return to my friends house to be greeted with 4 patrol cars and her dad. The one pile of bricks became tombstones and we took them back by police escort. When the cops arrived with us and saw the pile and shook their heads in disgrace, not to mention we weren't lying. Creepy

I just gotta say that some strange things have been happening in my house for the past few years. My great grandmother actually died in my bed room, freaked me out just seeing her lying in my bed dead. Anyways, my sister bought a weegie board and decided to be stupid and play with it, asking if my grandmother was still in the house. The board spelled out yes. The next night, me and my brother luke wee in the living room watching t.v and suddenly a six foot tall figue walked past me that looked like an six foot tall boy with blonde hair that looked just like my other brother tanner. So i called out to the person thinking it was my brother a few times getting louder everytime. Then my brtoehr tanner came out of his room and was like "what". I felt the room get really cold as i realized what just happened. It freaked me the hell out. Then a second time me and my mother were fighting over something, keep in mind that my grandmother and mother were like a tag team couple. Anyways i made a joke about my grand mother haunting the house and that night while i as sleeping one of the blades off of my ceiling fan broke off and flew right over my head while i was sleeping.
