someone mentioned the old brick house on emmanuel church road.. i’ve lived on this road for 15 years and it has always been known to be haunted. there are multiple sheds on the property that used to be slave quarters and they say you can hear the chains of the slaves clinking at night. i dont know if this is true or not but it wouldnt surprise me. its a very old house. there is a brick on the front of the house that has the year that it was built, although i can not remember what year it was. when i was about seven or eight there was an article in the newspaper that explained the story of this old house. i dont know if anyone that lives around here noticed, but there used to be an old man that lived there( we knew this because he used to come out and yell at kids for trespassing on his property from the neighborhood that backs up to it) i never used to see any lights in the house, only candles. the gate was always locked at the end of the driveway and there was never a car there. i’m pretty sure he died because about two years ago i noticed a car in the driveway and the gate was open. i saw a lady getting out of her car once too. but i havent seen anyone since. it doesnt look like anyone lives there anymore. all i know is that the house freaks me out. i always get really creeped out when i’m driving past it late at night. somethings not right about that house. if you live in the area and have any more details about this house, please let me know. i’ve been trying to research it for the past two hours and can’t find a thing. thanks.

Right below the comment box! This comment thread is a poor reflection on the education levels in Calvert County. We are such a highly ranked education system within the state of Maryland which is also highly rated. Yet we sit down on the internet and post such poor spelling and grammar that it is painful to read.

There is a team that covered Maryland and I do believe one or two of the Calvert legends have made it in. I believe the title is Freaky Maryland.

I saw a comment earlier that claims Plum Point couldn’t be haunted because it is a straight and open road. Plum point is actually a relatively windy road and in most places has no shoulder. I believe you are referring to rt. 261 which passes through the Naval Research Labs (the only straight section of road). Also the comments about Plum Point Rd. did not claim it was haunted, but in fact cursed. I’ve been driving this road personally for almost 20 years and never had an issue, but there is a new accident scene almost every weekend for this road. Mostly it has to deal with people doing 60mph to 70mph on deceptive turns in the rain or deer. Occasionally a tree will fall into the road.

I don’t know about any of the mentioned haunts including the Hance House, but I believe Point Lookout was covered in the book I mentioned. Calvert also has small rickety houses strewn about all over the county mostly overgrown by the wooded regions. These houses may or may not be “haunted”, but I can guarantee a night in them will have your imagination spinning between the sounds of the house and the surrounding ambient nature.

i live in peach blossom farm which is on plum point road. the neighborhood is said to be haunted because it was built on an old slave peach farm. i’ve heard some pretty eerie things go on, i’ve heard many stories from many of my neighbors.

In regards to the girl that was talking about the mansion at Neeld Estates being haunted it definately is. My husband is related to the Neelds and he has told me the story on more then one ocassion, that as he put it Old Lady Neeld him, of the baby that was upstairs in the house and wouldn’t stop crying. One of the slaves was ordered to take the baby back to the one of the slave houses behind the mansion and apparently when he went to get the baby some form of fight ensued and the baby fell from the third floor and there is a blood stain in the back part of the house under one of the rugs. As for peach blossom farm, it used to be part of the Neeld’s Estate and yes that place is very haunted as well.
