Real Haunted House

Hangman’s Tree

New Orleans, Louisiana

During the antebellum period, a slave was caught in the heat of passion with a white female. Consequently, he was taken to an oak tree near Lake Pontchartrain and hanged. If one goes there late at night, he will hear the snapping of the rope and will see a shadow swinging back and forth against the tree.

I’ve been to the tree I didn’t find anything weird with it but then again being raised in St. Bernard parish little seems weird anymore :/….That was pretty wrong of you to say. I can understand the problem with mixed babies BECAUSE they’re rarely excepted, it’s hard for them to fit in with one race. Or atleast that’s how it used to be. Now a days it’s a lot more normal than the old days. The only reason I wouldn’t is in fear that it would affect my baby emotionally. I see nothing wrong with interracial relationships. :) _Bunny

I live in New Orleans. Half of the haunting stories are purely for tourism.

Back in the day – in that time era – it was dangerous taboo to be with a person of a different color- everything was so racial and people were murdered for thier actions back then (Hanging, beaten to death, etc.) This is a believeable story historical wise- but I have not seen this tree.

I had a bad experience here too! i took my friend to this tree one night and we thought we’d bring some chili and cornbread along for a little snack. So after we were done eating we got up and took one last look at the tree. and on the way home we had the worst stomach aches and finally broke out into the worst diarrhea fits ever! it destroyed the inside of the car. Dont go to this site!!!

There are a lot of nice interracial families here in Shreveport and there is nothing wrong with it. Kaitlyn and Travis you both are ignorant. Life is too short to hate. And yes, by the way, i am a white woman
