Real Haunted House

Hangman’s Tree

New Orleans, Louisiana

During the antebellum period, a slave was caught in the heat of passion with a white female. Consequently, he was taken to an oak tree near Lake Pontchartrain and hanged. If one goes there late at night, he will hear the snapping of the rope and will see a shadow swinging back and forth against the tree.

I’ve been to Hangman’s tree. it’s the one by the ruins with the bricks facing the water. It does look as if a man is hanging there if you walk up the levee from North to east. A guy brought me there to check it out thinking I’d be scared yet he got scared when there was a huge Tree Roach….the flying kind I like to call dive bombers…..on the bricks. Since then I’ve brought men to see it only to have them act chicken. I haven’t been there in about 20 years and hope to bring my daughter there to see. As far as people thinking races shouldn’t mix……trace your family tree….then you can judge people if your humility allows you to do so. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll find out about not only yourself but your ancestors.

Kaitlyn, Get your head out of your ***….no…second thought, keep it there. You deserve to have your head up your ***. What are you going to do now that the most powerful man in the world, the President of the U.S. is a bi-racial man? Leave, you say? Don’t remain in the U.S. on my account! In fact, I know a lot of bi-racial people. We should judge people on the content of their character…not the color of their skin. And your character is obviously lacking…as is your limited view of the world.

Adrian,
What makes you think anyone cares one way or another about your sexual proclivity? And what does being a lesbian have to do with the hanging tree?
Frankly, I don’t care if you are hetero, bi, lesbian, asexual, or trans sexual. I can’t imagine that there are too many posters in here who care one way or another. And if you have to have your mom take you to the tree, then I suspect you are a kid, anyway…keep it to yourself.
