Real Haunted House

Hannah House

Indianapolis, Indiana

This is house is said to have been built by a German immigrant upon arrival in the United States. During the nineteenth century, this house served as a station on the underground railroad. History says that there was a terrible fire one evening and all the slaves were burned to death in the basement. In order to maintain their secrecy, the owners walled up the section of the basement that held the dead bodies. Many have reported hearing screams and moans from the basement. In an upstairs room, a woman died in agony. Today, the room is plagued by blood drenched walls, the stench of decaying flesh, and the sound of a shrill female scream.

I haven’t checked on here in some time, as I am in college, and very busy with several projects. I can not post any of my photos right now because I’m looking into publishing a book with my experiences and my photos. I have over 50 spirit photos at the nicholson mansion alone,I have been to the graveyard and stood on the platform that the mansion once was on, on Mills Rd. I have also been several other places and I get spirits there too, and this has changed my life to say the least. Tomorrow I plan to go on a tour at the Hannah House, and maybe I will pick up on something. I’m also going there for a history trip for myself, just to see where the slaves stayed and the milk house, it’s interesting to me in that aspect as well. I have census records on the nicholson place, the essay from the historical landmarks and I’ve researched all the owners through the years from 1979. that place has had weird rumors for over 30 years, and from my evidence, it’s very active! There are some trapped souls and one should be careful when going there. Also, be careful on private property, the attorney for the state owns the mansion now.
have a great night everyone, I’m off to a place that they are diggin up old graves and relocating them to expand a road. I’m going to see if a spirit is bothered by this!

I went on a tour a few months ago and I couldn’t have been less pleased. I think that this is a haunted house, but the tour and subsequent “investigation” that was done was an obvious attempt at entertainment. A “sensitive” acted like she was possessed by a spirit when it was very obvious she was playing off the groups comments.

To the person who asked what he did with the bodies: The Hannah House was a stop on the underground railroad. The slaves were hiding in the basement when it caught on fire and they all died. He built a wall and hid them behind it.

I’ve never been in there personally, but with a history like that it wouldn’t surprise me if it were haunted. You can’t really go in there expecting the ghosts to put on a show for you, either.

They also do the tours to help keep it open. Taxes are extremely high (as everyone probably knows) and with the mayor trying to tear it down (even though it’s a historic building) all the time, they need all the help they can get.

Here’s a cool website with some pictures (no spooky orbs though, sorry):

Also, I’ve been to the house on Mann Road, and I never realized it was called the Nicholson Mansion. The story I heard on that one was that before the house was moved, a man lived there with his family. Apparently, he was abusing his daughter and eventually killed his whole family. There was something about the graves in the back, and it was either his or hers that was away from the rest? I don’t know. That place was definitely creepy though the few times we went there.

Central State, now that place is terrifying!

I travel the country visiting haunted places. I’m not a teenager, I’m much older and have been experiencing paranormal since I was a child. I have been on several of the over night visits to Hannah House. The first time during the orientation the left side of my body turned cold and tingled. In the palor I sat for awhile and became overwhelmed with grief and started crying and saying to the room I’m so sorry, over and over. I had to leave to the safe room to stop. The attic is very haunted. I and several others that night were useing divining rods. The investigator asked questions and my divining rods would cross for yes and uncross for no. One young man was pushed on the stairs with no one around him. My friend was poked in the side several times with no one close to her. The second time not as much happened. So all I can say is go a few times because some of you are right they don’t perform on cue. Stormy nights are the best. All that electricity in the air does help. Now Gettysburg was really GREAT>>>>

I really don’t appreciate everybody speaking so rudely about my daughter! She is a great girl but has a few issues. Nobody argues that point but I don’t feel like her business should be put out in the open. Especially from Dave.

okay.. you only have apart of the haunted story.
it is said that one of the upstairs rooms is haunted so here you go, the story behind that…Mrs. Hannah had given birth to a still-born child in a second floor bedroom. A visit to the Crown Hill Cemetery to where Elizabeth & Alexander Hannah are buried, found a small, unmarked, infant-sized gravestone in the family plot, with only a single date etched in the stone.

I recently as well did the overnight visit at the Hannah House. There was a few experiences in the house that I experienced in the attic and then mainly the basement. Obvious something is going on there but also any sort of voices or footsteps you may think you hear are dismissed easily dut to the amount of people and lack of coordination. Still a great time but would definetly like to be there on a more serious minded visit for everyone!

The Hannah House had REAL history. Of course now a days its all about the all mighty dollar and everyone and anyone who can has capitalized on the terror the house holds. Any time something terrible happens, it leaves a mark, or an imprint if you will. The amount of slaves that were in the basement when the house caught on fire is unreal. And all those people died namelessly. Their lives and their deaths were hidden. There WAS a wall build by the owners at the time of the fire to preotect themselves and hide the evidence. Therefore one wouildn’t be able to go into the area where they actually died. You can, for a price, stay overnight at the Hannah House. But trust no one brought in by the people who run the house….keep in mind…they want your money. There are reports of things falling off shelves and the smells, which smell more like burnt flesh then a fire…. Either way, Happy Haunting :)

I went to the Hannah House in June on a tour, $50.00 a person and they would’nt let me bring in my high-def video camera, My Digital Camera (because it had to much optical zoom) Or my high def recorder. They said that they have people with gear and to let the expert’s handle it…
