Harville House
Two old ladies once resided in this house, but when they died, no one noticed, and all their possessions remained. Today, a blue light can be seen in a window at night, and brave persons who have ventured inside have reported seeing the two women rocking in their chairs.

Ok I live in Statesboro, GA and have been to the Harville house multiple times because my best friend is a Harville and lives right next to it (her parents own it). The Harville house is NOT haunted. It just looks like it is because it’s so run down looking. All of this haunted sstuff is in people’s heads when they go out there so they do think it’s haunted. Just like Ghost Road (also in Statesboro) And I think it is really pathetic when people go in there and vandalize it and steal things. And about the last comment, it is way past remodeleding. But yes it would be pretty.

I am a news reporter with the Statesboro Herqld, and have lived in Bulloch County most of my life. I am familiar with the haunting stories, and know the Harvilles.
The last time I wrote something about the house, all in fun, near Halloween, the family contacted me and asked that I stop. Why?
Because people have vandalized the house, trespass, steal, and make nuisances of themselves, especially at Halloween.
If you would just drive past and look, that’s one thing. We all enjoy being scared, and the house is truly fascinating. Its history is vivid, and there are documented stories of the first owner, Samuel Harville, chasing a “wild man” with his slaves and hunting dogs.
But the hauntings … the family claims the stories are untrue. And they ask people to please stay out of the Harville House. The unique house would have been awesome had it been restored, but the family was financially unable to undertake such a task, and now it is too late.
If you MUST be scared on Halloween in Statesboro, go to the Beaver House Restaurant. Clay Beaver will welcome you, and that house is truly haunted. I was there the night a psychic/sensitive from New York came … and we have photographs showing a small girl – Annie, who is one of the houses’ ghosts. The article I wrote can be researched in our archives.
BY the way – the food is awesome as well!

um, if the two women were in the house in their chairs rocking, they probably werent dead. haunted houses are all in the mind and th story of the history behind the house. as a realestate agent, i have found that dead people dont sell houses, there is a list of things a person must fill out about a house when placing it on the market. a questionaire sort of. well one of the questions on the form is “has anyone been deceased in this home?” and if the answer is yes, a death certificate must be submitted. there is nothing on record about his house. other than the woman who bought it in 1918. She died in an old folks home on main street.

i have lived in bulloch county most of my life and have never been in the house. but my dad has in 1994. he says its not haunted and i believe him. all you colloge students better stop bc those cops aint kiddin. its just a shame to see it go. and i don’t blame the family for not sdellin it. back then families were not into splittig up farms.my sisters best friend is a harville but do not have anything to do with the house. peoplr are always comin up to them and askin them about the house. if you ask me i dont think its haunted. theres not enuf evidence. please just leave the family alone. they just want their privacy. its fallin down now and its dangerous. and if you get caught they could be responsible. theres not much left of it now. the most you could is to just ride by and look at the beautiful architecture. i still admire it even though i drive by it every day to and from school.

All you people talking about others vandalizing the house and stealing things, are crazy. We went there atleast 3 times and not once did we steal or vandalize anything. Besides it would be pointless to steal the things that are in there unless your in desperate need of a broken mattress and a rocking chair that is way out dated.

YOU WONT BELIEVE THIS…yet, you must….I went there this past thursday night, it was dark and creepy. My friends Meshack and Abu Saeed dared me to go in first. I didnt see anything so I told them the coast was clear. 6 and one-third minutes later, we were all upstairs. That is when we heard strange moaning noises and what sounded like chains. We slowly walked to the door at the end of the hallway and when we opened it, we saw the 2 old ghost ladies having sex. Yeah! Totally! They were using strap on’s and just going at it olympic softball player style. Pounding, I mean pounding on each other. Damn! Then, the next day Abu Saeed got deported back to Iran. End of story.

To get to Ghost Road, you have to take Hwy 80 East from Statesboro to Brooklet (about 9 miles from the Mall). Most of the way thru Brooklet (past the second traffic light) a dirt road veers off to the left. The building in front of if used to be Jones Hardware or Jones Building Supply (not sure if that is still the name). The tricky part is knowing how far to go down the dirt road. When you see a highway again, turn around. As you drive slowyly back towards Brooklet, you can sometimes see the lantern of the railroad guy that was killed by a train near the road, reflecting in your rear-view mirror. Of course you have to go at night. The effect is not all that scary and pretty easy to figure out, but it does give you 20 minutes or so each way to tell ghost stories.

well acually the story goes that a man and his family live in that house 7 kids and him and his wife. that is until he killed all 8 of them with an ax. chopped them up like they were nothing. there is a harville family cemetary out there just past the house down a dirt road that on a huge gravestone reads HIS CHILDREN in big letters and thier names underneath it. but i dont reccomend going out there because we were chased away by a man in a black truck and he was so scary.. i felt like i was about to be part of the second texas chainsaw massacure

I lived in Statesboro or Brooklet for the most of the past 10 years, from the time I was 12 until this past January. (I am now 22.) And a few years ago when it snowed I went out there one evening when the ice and all was clearing. Me, my mom and stepdad, who has lived there since he was a kid were riding around one evening and he stopped out in front of it. It was wierd because I figured he was just slowing down to turn and I got this bad feeling and chills even though it was pretty hot in the truck. Then he told us about the house and that he had gone in as a teenager. But when I got the feeling I had no clue about the place. And for those who keep saying this is all in you head, I didn’t believe until this past November, when I was staying with my then boyfriend right next to the old packing house. Most people don’t kknow about the white house on the property that his family was renting but I saw alot while living there. Enough to change my mind about things.

Someone on this site said they went into that house and got busted for tresspassing. You should wait until midnight, put on a tight, jet-black suit, and bring some night vision goggles, a flashlight, and some rice crispy treats. Try to sneak in unnoticed.
