Harville House
Two old ladies once resided in this house, but when they died, no one noticed, and all their possessions remained. Today, a blue light can be seen in a window at night, and brave persons who have ventured inside have reported seeing the two women rocking in their chairs.

Well I went to GA Southern a while back and I have to say I have never heard of this house. However I did go to Ghost Road. I can not remember the name of the road but you drive down the road until you get to a street light. We all got out of our car and looked down to the light. In the shadow of the light you see a man walking back and forth. Then he stops and bend over and stands up, again and agian. You see he has a shovel in his hands. He is digging!! The story goes that the road is on an old railroad track and he is burying people who have died.

Just a thought but obviously this house intrigues many people weather they believe it to be haunted or not…and I understand the Harvilles cant financially do anything with the house like sell it or afford to re-store the house………and I understand that you can get arrested for trespassing the house….so why dont the Harvilles make some money out of the damned place!!
Serious..charge people to come and look around the house, do a tourguide maybe going round the house and finnishing at the graveyard…people will obviously pay 5 dollars or whatever, to see it for ghost you could do night time viewings and for the architechture of the house itself do daytime veiwings!
no?

I am a Harville and I am proud of our history and heritage. I am outraged by some of these comments, so I want to clear a few things up. THE HOUSE IS NOT HAUNTED! There are no ghost, and there aren’t any lights. The lights that you might have seen were our flash lights looking at you. I would greatly appreciate it if yall would stop all of the nonsence and trespassing. I am getting sick and tired of being woken up in the middle of the night by people screaming or the sound of trucks in the yard or people breaking windows to try and get into the house. During Halloween and friday the 13 I get no sleep because yall think that it is fun to trespass on to someone elses property and vandalize a part of their history. For those of you who think that we have done nothing to try and preserve the house you are wrong. The house wouldn’t be in as bad of shape if it weren’t for the trespassing and vandalizm. We have had people break windows, steal, and even push over colums. We have had people arrested and will continue to until this STOPS! I also don’t understand how someone can desrespect the graves of someone elses loved ones. It’s just wrong, and it hurts the family to know that such a thing has happened. If you want to see the house we would be more than willing to let you walk around and see it if you would just stop by and ask permission, thats all you have to do. The trespassing and vandalism HAS TO STOP. It hurts me to know that such a huge part of my family’s history and heritage is a victim of such nonsence. So PLEASE STOP!

I went to this house TODAY. (10/11/07) It is absolutely beautiful. I do not believe all the above stories of “ghosts and happenings”. I’m sure anything is possible, but I did not get one odd feeling from this place at all. I went to the owner’s house next door to ask permission first before taking pictures. They were very nice and had no problem letting me go on the property. I live in Statesboro and had never heard of this house before. I decided to check it out, however I did NOT go to the cemetary. Some things should remain sacred, and are not meant for entertainment purposes. I’ve always been interested in old, abandoned houses/buildings and this one is magnificent. It should be viewed and admired for the mere quality of work that went into it. I will be posting my pictures to Photobucket tonight. Look up user flionhi, and click the link to view my album. Even though I have no ties to this family, and no authority whatsoever … I ask that whoever visits this house, whenever they might – do so with no intentions of trying to get in or do harm to the home. It is in bad condition already but it is not fair for the many of us who simply want to see it for its true beauty, to be held accountable for those who wish to trash the place or go “ghost hunting.”

Okay, I actually wound up posting my pics on Flickr instead. So, go to http://www.flickr.com and do a search for flionhi. It will tell you there are no photos by that name, then above the search box click on People and it will give you the link to my page. Please feel free to leave a comment or two.

I went to the Harville House years ago with my ex-fiance. It was just an old house. The story that I heard was a little different. I heard that the Harville’s were would have all these traveling salesman come to the house and the salesman were never seen again. Folks say those salesman are buried in the Harville basement. Of course when I went there we could not find the basement. Going to the Harville Cemetary is a little spooky but I think all cemetary’s are spooky. However after we left the Harville House …we went to Ghost Road in the boro. Now that was scary and I really did see something there…. Gail

Ok, so last night a couple of friends and I decided to go around to the haunted areas of Statesboro. We went to the Harville House, or so we thought. When reading these comments I get the feeling that we got the wrong house. Does anyone have pictures that I could possibly see to make sure it was the right house? We also went to the packing house and got great pictures of orbs and shadows coming out of the windows, it was awesome!

This is Brooks Edenfield. I’m apart of the family that owns ROBERTSON RD (Ghost Road) and the land that surrounds it. First of all, that is not ghost road. All ya’ll say ya’ll have lived here for 10 years or so… well… i’ve lived here for 18 and i know more about it than anybody else around here. Robertson road was named after my grandpa… Claude Robertson Sr, which is on my mom’s side. Let me break it down for all the D*** A*** out there… thats why my last name is different… my mom’s side. The Railroad Bed has always been called Ghost Road… NOT Robertson Rd. We also own some land on the Railroad Bed too. We have caught trespassers down there before and threw their A** in jail. So i suggest if your going down there to screw around… your getting into some trouble. People around here don’t mind people riding down there… but when you get out of your car like someone on up there said… that’s trespassing. and the street light…? well that’s where our pond is with a small creek on the opposite side of the road. Our hunting club is there too, which explains the Dog pens right beside our pond. The S*** ain’t funny when you go down there trespassing and S***, but what is funny is when we catch you. haha don’t believe me?? i live right across highway 80 (across from robertson road). Let me or one of my family members catch ya’ll down there and i’ll show you something F’n scary.

on halloween night you can go to the house and see 2 young models having sex and then they will seduce you as well. I married one once and she took me to the other side were i met tupac and he was just finishing a duet with elvis. But unfortunately the marriage did not work so we got divorced and i have not been back. Also you can stand over mozarts grave and hear him decomposing. Later gator!

I am a Harville. I’ve been reading some of your comments on our house. Some of them are strangely accurate and others are rather insulting. I didn’t want to get involved in any of this but I think the truth needs to come out. Truth is, there are things that happened in our house that have haunted me for years. I wish I could go into detail but out of what respect I have for my family I will not. I will say that I have dealt with hauntings in our house for years and am still dealing with them now. The light upstairs was mentioned and it is true. We wrote off this activity as a random power surge but even when there was no power the light appeared. I have seen the source of the light several times myself and it is hard to explain. It appears as a thick rushing mist all at once and it’s bone chilling and when things feel wrong a light emerges from nowhere and it is so bright. Two times all electrical devices I had in posession died. They eventually turned back on but with little battery power. I never actually stuck around to see what it did. It seemed to stay fixed and elevated about chest height in the center of the room. I wish I knew why it happened so that I could sleep normally at night. We always heard doors close from what whe thought was wind channeling through vents and hallways pressurizing certain areas and closing them but when they latch and open repeatedly by themselves while the door knobs rattle and turn, that’s not wind. The door to the master cracked at the hinges while closed. 5 of us were huddled together too scared to move waiting for something to come out and I almost wish it did. I have only seen one womam in the house and she was as vivid as if she were real. My sister and mother also have seen her in the same place as I, wearing the same ragged outfit rushing around the corner to the far corner of the house. She never made a noise but we could see her yelling. I never told them of my encounter until they told me the same story. I was to make sure they were not lying. There is a well behind the house and for a month, sometimes almost nightly we were awaken to echoing yells and moans of several different voices. Both sounded like children. These are the voices that still haunt me. Everything else was really not that bad. I was very young when these events took place and they were shared by almost all of us. After that horrid month, things calmed and things went back to normal until the summer. Deep voices rattled the walls only during sleep. Nearly everyone in the house was startled out of bed only to hear nothing else. The house was always cold when this happened. Sometimes the walls would sweat and fog appeared from our breaths. The cold would dissappear as soon as it came. The deep apparent male voices would get so loud noone could come out of their beds in fear of the worst of things. Even when it would cease, we would talk from room to room. At one point mother seemed like someone else when she woke up and she said things that she would have never said before. We never questioned her because it seemed as if she were someone else and we didn’t know what they would do or say. We knew she wasn’t herself. She laid in bed sick for 6 days sick after that moment. For 6 days, she couldn’t remember anything that happened the day she had changed. Just that day. From the time she woke till she laid in bed. That day was erased from her memory as if she never lived it. I don’t think she did. On the third day of bed rest she awoke to find numerous yellow tablet pages with the names of people we didn’t know and the word relieve mentioned over and over again. But oddly enough, she swore she remembered doing it. I don’t believe it. She was sleeping and she didn’t want to frighten us. I will live with these things for my whole life. Everyone will. No one needs to go in our house. No one. I have been back several times, in the light hours, and it appears beaten and hurt. It appears now as it felt then. I wish for no one to see what we’ve seen and someone will end up getting hurt. These are not games and I will have the Sherriff keep an eye on the place. Just realize that things unexplained do happen and it’s not in everyone’s best interest to go looking for proof of it. A lot of things didn’t seem friendly in the house and they never will be. It seemed somewhat peaceful the days that I’ve returned and I can only dream that these “things” died with the house. Please do not bother the cemetary, our family has done no harm and we never will. Do not disrespect our burial grounds. I would never do the same to you in a million years for no reason. God bless everyone of you in this old place I once called home and may God bless the spirits of that house. I hope they have raised their last voices and made their final appearances. As for the light, the only activity I’ve really heard that still exists, may it be the reminants of the house’s soul growing weak. May it pass more peaceful than the others.

I went to photobucket and saw the pictures of this house. What a shame that such a wonderful house from heart of dixie has been left to decay and rot. Yes it looks scary but I am more upset that the citizens of Bulloch County have not stood up to have this house remodeled and opened as a museum or something. It is a shame to see a part of American History rotting away. The family should send pictures to the Historical Preservation Society and I bet the government would give them a grant to restore it. Then they could open it up as a bed and breakfast. The ghost story lovers would love having the opportunity of spending the night in a very historical supposedly haunted, house. The Harvilles instead of dealing with the vandalism could have a very successful business sharing the history of their family. Tsk Tsk to anyone who disrespects this family!!
