Real Haunted House

Harville House

Statesboro, Georgia

Two old ladies once resided in this house, but when they died, no one noticed, and all their possessions remained. Today, a blue light can be seen in a window at night, and brave persons who have ventured inside have reported seeing the two women rocking in their chairs.

My Grandmother said she knew the Harville ladies. It was just two sisters that lived in the house together, because their husbands had both passed. When the college was built rumors started circulating that these old widows buried there money in and around the house. College punks raided the land and found nothing. Digging up the grounds and still nothing appeared. The college kids got aggrivated and invaded the house looking for the money. Evidently they scared the little old ladied to death so they lcoked themselves in the closet, and died of fright. The light is true. I’ve been to this house on many occasions, because I find it fascinating. I have pictures of the lights, but I advise you not to step foot in the house. It’s comdimed, and I’m surpirsed it hasnt fallen to the ground years ago.

It’s not that hard to find at all. I’ve never been inside but that place is sooo creepy looking. It’s next to my teacher’s house and she owns it. I think it was her grandma or something, but I wouldn’t recommend going there because she will call the cops on you.

Another place to go (you still risk getting arrested) is the packing house on packing house rd. 400 people burned to death in it. My friend told me there is one room that you can not penetrate with light! It’s falling apart though haha.

ok to all of you people going in this house yall need to be shot!! and i hope those people do see yall and shoot you!! at first i thought that this story was great!! until i read wht the owners had to say… YALL ARE SO PATHETIC!!! how could people trespass onto someone elses property and harm this historic house more than it already is?? and to the racist girl who is posting things about white people u need ur *** kicked!! how can u say that WE dont owe yall &*#@!! was we the one that did that to yall?? hmmm?? UHHH NO!! the last time i checked i was born in 1991 not the 1800`s and y r u fussin any way it aint happenin now is it? exactly my point!! i get along with everyone and im sure that all of our ancestors would be so ashamed to know that racism is still strongly in effect today!! its pitiful!! yall have everything handed to yall and yall still aint happy!!
but seriously, im a strong believer in god, and the dummy who said that im goin to hell for believing in something that could possibly happen, SHUTUP!!! u dont know anything!!! but i do believe that when people die and their death isnt justified that their spirit roams the earth waiting to be justified so that their bodies can be at peace finally.
and to yall idiots that are talking about those women having sex…. GROW THE $#@* UP!!! ur embarrassing urselvels
so why dont yall do yourselves a favor and leave those people alone!! thats their history and yall dont need to be tellin them what to do with their property if they want to sell it, thats their business not any of yours!!
if yall want a real scare go to the old house on the hawkinsville -eastman highway or to the old hospital in hawkinsville, and leave these people alone!!
and im tellin yall, if someone was to disturb me while i was at rest in my grave, yall wouldnt just be haunted, yall would be followed by my &*##$@ off soul for the rest of your natural born lives!!

signed and dissapointed

I went here a couple of years ago when I was going to GSU. Myself and 4 other friends went in late one night. The spooky that happened was I was about to open a door in the house and it opened itself about 2 inches before I could grab the door handle, but besides that its really spooky, and I think I Do remember seeing a rocking chair in there.

lol thats funny I was reading the comments about them calling the law on you. Yeah that happened haha we had to chat with a deputy about us being in there but he let us go. I mean if you aren’t damaging anything what are they going to do for you trespassing give you a 20 dollar fine. haha

After looking at the photos of the house I can’t help but feel that it is a shame that the house is in such bad shape. I bet it was a beauty when it was built.

I used to live in Statesboro and graduated from GSU in 2006. Has anyone ever heard of the story of the Phi Mu Alum who was either murdered by her husband, or murdered her husband? I am trying to find information on this. We tried to visit the house one time, and just drove by. I have heard that the house is still owned by the surviving spouse (who is in a mental institution), and that it is as it was when the murder happened, including dry cleaning still by the front door from the day it happened. Anyways, I dont really know the story, but was hoping someone did. I think it happened in the late 1990′s.

Thanks!

Ok today I went by the house because me and a few friends wanted to investigate it. We saw the house from the road and left. Wanting to know more about the old House and the rumors of its hauntings we did some research. Afterward we wanted to see about getting permission to be on the property. No one should try to go there without permission first. I can tell you that you will not be able to go any further than the road. We called the Sheriff’s office to see what kind of permission we could get and its strictly forbidden and the Sheriff(who literally lives right down the road) Goes by the house every day to make sure no one goes in. We have equipment so we will drive by sometime and try to video from the road. DO NOT GO ON THE PROPERTY OR IN THE HOUSE. Its not safe and you will be arrested for trespassing on private property. Please show respect to the people that own the house and the law enforcement.

I have been to the Harville house. It was me and my two friends. The house is completely remodeled now except for the back porch which is still wooden and the windows are like 5 foot from the ground. So me and my friends went out looking for the Harville cemetary but we couldnt find it so we went to the house instead. It actually looks like someone lives there now because it had two lamps on in the living room that were really bright cause if you look throgh the window you can see through the house. The funny thing is the blinds are only open at the top and close at the bottum which is creepy and i have never seen blinds like that before. So we were kinds skeptical about getting out and going up to the front door. So we walked up to the front porch and it was like you could feel like somebody was watching you. I walked up the stairs cause i at least wanted to knock on the door or something. Instead i thought about sitting in one of the rocking chairs that was on the porch. I walked up the stairs and every stair was creaking as if they were really old. But they werent cause basically the whole house was remodeled. So i got up on the porch and looked at the chairs. Soon as i went up to it something inside the house made a noise so i got closer. And i kicked the rocking chair hard enough to move it a little. And when i did that the noise inside the house got louder like someone was walking up to the front door or at least standing there cause me and my friend heard it so he ran and i took off behind him cause i didnt know if somebody was home or what. It was crazy. I want to go back again with some more of my friends and maybe get into the house somehow. It doesnt look like there is a way to get in anymore. And the back porch was way too dark to try and climb up in there. So hopefully next time something different will happen.

Idk Carlos. After reading all these comments it kinda makes me regret ever going to it. I lnow that it is disrespectful to go on other people property and i really dont believe in hauntings or anything cause i was raised up in church all my life. I just went because it was my first time ever hearing about it and i got curious and they wanted to do it. I went there last night to be exact and I really do think that someone lives there now cause the lawn is pretty and so is the house. Maybe an old couple lives there because there is a wheelchair ramp coming off the side of the front porch. Knowing what i know now that i have read most of these comments i do feel bad for going there and kicking the rocking chair. But if you want to check it out i will watch from the other side of the street so i dont get shot.

Carlos says:

The ghost road that people on here is talking about is called the Railroad Bed. The name for the dirt road is called Railroad Bed. Its on a very dark dirt road in Brooklet. A while back a man lived out there that worked with trains and what not. Apparently he was beheaded or hit by the train or some ****. There use to be an old house out there. Idk if its still there. I think though but im not sure. Me and my friends go there a lot cause i use to stay not too far from it. We would just drive down that road and turn off the headlights and just sit there in the car. Nothing ever really happened to us except the windows fogged up and it was hot out. There is occasionally you can see a flashlight shining in a distance. I dont think its as bad as it use to be out there. You all can check it out if you want. Its basically just off eighty driving into brooklet. There is a Railroad Bed Conn and just plain ol Railroad Bed. Each road leads to the same place. Have fun!!!

Oh by the way. The Harville house does have an address. There is a black mailbox in the driveway that says 1801. Im really guessing that somebody lives there now. The whole house is remodeled except for the back porch. It has like bluish, grayish siding on it. With two little lamps that always stay on shining through the living room window.

I grew up in Statesboro and know the family that owns the house. Although we never went in the house, it was always intriguing and scary to us. I can’t verify if it’s haunted or not, but I can tell you that the family has for years been tired of people going in it and vandalizing it. I do know a lot of people who claimed to have seen the light upstairs though.
