I’ve grown up in and around Denver all my life. I too spent a lot of time at Red Rocks as a teenager. I’ve seen the hatchet lady many times. It is a lantern she carries, not a hatchet. I’ve wondered why she was called the Hatchet Lady ever since the first time I saw her. She does have long dark hair and exudes an oura of sadness. She’s never acknowledged me or any of my friends, just ignoring us as she walked. There are many strange lights and sounds at Red Rocks at night time, even in areas not usually frequented by people. There no portals or holes to anywhere. The winds that blow through many of the rock formations sound very strange at night and some are very strong. But the Hatchet Lady is the only thing me or my frineds as actually seen.

Adolph Coors III died by gunshots on the bridge Joseph Corbett on Feb. 9, 1960. He was found months later in a garbage dump near Denver. I got this info from a website that had the story from Adolph Coors IV mouth.

the story about the hatchet lady bridge is lame i think it’s just a myth that someone made up to get poor little people who believe in anything scared and believing that things like that actually exist when they shouldn’t so find something else to do with your spare time than making up stories ,and the name is stupid.

I remember being out at Red Rocks on a sunny saturday morning in the early 80’s. There were maybe 50 or so people scattered about inside. Up there in that cave on “Shiprock”, the one towards the north, there were two clowns, showoffs, or two dudes just craving attention was up there horse-playing around. They had a boom-box radio playing and all of sudden, we heard that radio playing as it fell over the edge and busted into a million pieces. Alot of people started yelling at them to come down or they would call police. Both of them yelled back at the same time and said they never touched the radio and was nowhere near it. They swore to it. Serious as a heart attack.
Alot of guys take their classic rides up to Red Rocks for photo shoots. I’ve seen quite a few of those photos. You would not believe the white areas that appear in the backgrounds. If you are there at night, ANY night, and it’s really quiet, you would not believe all the different sounds that echoe and/or carry, and ricochet off the rocks. Yes, you will see lights too, but you won’t be able to tell what some of them are. It is possible that one could be a lantern. I think everyone should go there at least once in their life. It’s definantly NOT a waste of your time.
