Haunted Mining Town
During the turn of the century, thousands of miners flocked to this boomtown to seek fortune. After the copper mine was depleted, all but one hundred of the miners left.
Today, the community is a haven for artists, and has been designated a historical landmark.
Ghosts in the town include that of a prostitute that resides in the building now called “Spook Hall.” In the Old Episcopal Church on Cleopatra Hill, a white, misty sprit of unknown origin has been spotted on numerous occasions. In the Old Company Clinic, the ghosts of the influenza epidemic of 1917 are said to reside.

Of all the times I’ve been to Jerome, I’ve always wanted to stay in the old school. There are a few basketball players still playing in the gym. Because when this school was up & running, there was an away game that some students went on. But on returning home to Jerome, their bus got into an accident and lost a majority of their basketball players.

I’m Wiccan. I’ve been to Jerome. There is no evil there, just a few lost souls and they are among the living. It’s a bit of a sad place, but not haunted.
Blessed be.

My sweetie and I were in Jerome 2/2008 and stayed at the Mile High Hotel. (it used to be called something else). In the middle of the night we hear a BIG slam on the table next tot he bed. We just stayed in bed an ignored it. In the morning one water bottle was laying on it’s side and the other remained upright. This bottle did not fall over, it was definately slammed.
It is a really neat town and worth the trip from Sedona. Very unique, copper ceilings and all.

I went to jerome in 2003, i stayed at the jerome hotel, vistited the cemetary of graves from 1898-1914 all children. The hotel was built in the early 1930′s closed for 40 something years, bought by a family who through out some paint. The asylm is now the resturant, bodies were shipped down to the mine, they didnt have a morgue. The hotel runs of the switch board.
trust me the place is friggin out loud haunted. What do you say about a town that has no children schools gas stations convenient stores, travel around the corner of the mountain to were the orginal town stood, its still there!!!!! down to the dentist tools to the old dusty shoe underneath the table in the telegragh hut!!!!

I went to Jerome this past July 4th. Me and my friends walked around quite a bit. There are weird jail cell type things in the walls of the town. Most have bars but there are smaller ones that don’t. We were all too scared to go in those. Then we went to the cementary becausemy friend wanted to talk pictures. It’s out in the middle of nowhere, but we kept hearing weird voices and stuff. And in a bunch of the pictures from the cememtary there are bright spots. At one point I stopped breathing and my friend took a picture of me because it was dark and we couldn’t see. After that I was breathing fine…But in the picture I have a couple of bright spots around me as if I was standing in front of a mirror. It’s creepy as hell but it’s so much fun.

I live in Prescott,AZ and visit Jerome alot. I go to the Art gallory at the abandoned school at the bottom of the mountain. That place scares me to death. I’ve taken my mom and several friends there everytime I go. The artist there paints himself painting himself of him painting himself. And in the other building you go down stairs were the lockers are and the locker doors will swing open and slam close by them selves. And a face shows up in the window of the gym door. I have lots of pictures and video. I have not been in that school since then and dont care to.

This is a wonderful old town with lots of history, many ghost siteings. A must see if you are in the area, you can ask any of the locals and they will be glad to point you in the right direction to finding old haunts. Enjoy!!!

My Husband and I went to Jerome in 1996. I got a really creepy feeling when we were walking around the town. I really love old buildings and history but this had a negative feel to it. I finally said to my husband that I wanted to get out of there because I had a bad feeling. He said he felt the same way and as we walked to the car there was writing on a storefront window (written in the dirt, dust) that said, “Do you get the feeling someone is watching you?” That was all we needed and I will never go back there again!

my father used to work in the Budge mine the was over looked by the company clinic, he worked night shift, and worked under ground. He was trying to break through where the copper mine collapsed. He was the last one out of the mine and he would tell me stories of people (spirits) from Fillups Dodge company would wave to him from the bouquinie from the back of the hospital, he said that he would never go back to that mine. He says that he would see spirits of mines under ground that died down there.
