Hell’s Gate
The bridge has earned this name because it is said if one stops on the bridge and turns around, the road behind him looks like the fiery gates of Hell. Many years ago, a young couple lost their lives on this bridge. On a dark night, if one stops on the bridge and turns off all the lights, a member of the couple will get into the vehicle, leaving a wet spot on the seat.

Sorry to say Hell’s Gates is no more. The Alabama Dept of Transportation condemned the bridge and tore it down. Shortly after the lady who lived on the plantation passed away, her son… the sole proprieter, has left the property of the plantation. It is rumored that there is a groundskeeper who cares for the house, barn, out buildings, and land.

My friends and I actually went to hell’s gate tonight. It was alright but not as scary as I thought it would be. We’re all teenagers so it was pretty cool to look at but there wasn’t anything special about it. It was only fun and creepy because it was pitch black outside.

this bridge now illegal to get onto so if you do go you have to be careful and watch out for snakes. if you know anything about oxford you should know the historical davis house (recently torched by some moron) you go back around the cut off road. if you don’t know where this is its right across from the oxford exchange. you go on that road around the big curve and its there. we camped out one night after they blocked it and you can hear cring and all. now you can’t pull onto it they have large cement blockers however you can park at the exchange and walk it if your not to scared!!! just be warned its trespassing so if caught you can go to jail or get a ticket. if your really brave strip down and swim theres a several ways to the water. go to the east of the bridge (exchange side) go about 20 feet from the middle of the bridge and stand(or float) in the middle of the water and be still and the water will move like someone is circling you. you can feel it. i know from doing this. word of warning don’t go alone go in a group and be quiet!!

I am part of a paranormal investigation group called RPS Investigators. We have done numerous investigations at hell’s gate and we have found a lot of great evidence of paranormal activity. We have many pictures and EVPs on our website:
http://rpsinvestigations.co.cc/index.html
If you are interested in doing your own investigation then be careful because there are a lot of animals that are around there. Also, after reading some comments left here I wonder if some of you have ever been there at all. The story of Hell’s Gate is that a coupe and their 6 year old daughter ran off the bridge killing the little girl. In a picture that I personally took on the bridge you can see the little girl standing at the opposite end of the bridge ( this picture will be on the website soon). If you are interested in Hell’s Gate please feel free to visit our site and see for yourself what is there and what you can expect. If you have any questions about it or there is somewhere else that you would like us to investigate then please send an e-mail to our founder and we will do what we can. Also, someone said something about the bridge being on private land, the bridge is public property but the house that was burnt down is private property. You can not get in trouble for being on the bridge.

okay so this story is wrong the old woman did NOT die on this bridge. and she died years after her husband. the cops patrol this place day and night and going down there will get you in trouble.

I just went through boiling springs road last night looking for it…but im assuming because of it being closed off they re-did the road or something. but I’d really like to see the bridge, so if anyone knows how to get to it from the road search Christina Harry on Facebook and let me know.

You can no longer go to the hells gate bridge in oxford because of a publix being built right beside it. Me and my team went tonight and got ran off by a security guard that was watching over the site. He said it was privately owned. But you can see a big plantation house and filed to the right. Wish we could have stayed to investigate.
