Home Sweet Home
Now an antique shop, this old four story building is haunted by two ghosts. The first ghost is that of a man who hanged himself in the attic. Now blocked off by a door, the attic constantly has a frigid draft. Also the candy in the room is moved from dusty jar to dusty jar; there are never any fingerprints, however. The other phantom is that of a man that drowned in the river behind the house. At 4:39 AM, the time of the man’s death, it is said that the accident may be witnessed again.

First of all… To those of you who don’t believe in ghosts why are you reading a website about ghosts. I guess the people who don’t believe never will until something they can not explain happens to them.
Second… To the people who own the ”not haunted” bar… chill out. People are just relating what they have heard. I don’t find it as slander. It’s just a rumour. No need for all the big lawyer talk. Sheesh!

Hey Everyone! I am a 14 year old girl who lives in New Town, ND which is about, 60 miles away from Minot, ND and I don’t find this site scary! I have seen worst and have heard worst! If you hear or seen any of the stories, beleive me, Minot isn’t anything to New Town! Also, there is another place just as scary but most think it is worst! It is called the Village. It sounds funny but that’s what it’s called. There are many, many stories about the Village! You should get to hear more about it, it’s really interesting! well, I would like to tell you more but I’m running out of time. (beleive me I’m not lieing!)

Just a quick question….for all those people who are SO positive that ghosts don’t exist, i would like you people to explain the reasoning behind all of the weird stuff that occurs in peoples homes, in schools, and where they work. I bet if any of you were to actually experience one of these strange situations you might possibly think differently…just because you can’t see it and you don’t understand it, it doesn’t mean its not there!

This is to the owners of the “haunted bar”,
Why are you mad about people thinking your bar is haunted? It’s free advertising for you!!! I had planned to take a drive to your bar just to see if it was true. But since you say it’s not, and you’d probably get angry at my being there just to find out for sure, I no longer have any desire to go. It’s too bad, I was looking forward to it too.

Ive heard about some stories in Newtown and specifically the village. My sister was out with one of her friends North of the village in a field and she saw about twenty or thirty litlle shadow THINGS that were running around. She said it made her and her friend so terrified they didn’t want to move. After ahile they decided to start leaving,a good distance from where they were they could see those things climbing on the truck they had taken to get there. Someone my mom knew also saw one in her backyard through her kitchen window right by the house

I was just at Tagus North Dakota and drove by the few houses there. The house looked like no one was there and by the time we got to the cemetary we could see glows in the windows. Once we walked to the cemetary we heard some voices and what looked like strange movements comming from one of the grave stones. We then went back to the car and started it and headed back into town. When we started to go through the town again the glows went down from the houses. As we passed the church (what was the church just a brick thing now) there was faint images of people standing around in a circle. Not sure if it was people or not, it was pretty dark and pretty scary. We high tailed it out of there and won’t be going back.

Yeah, Tagus is very haunted. I drove through there with 3 of my friends one nite, and no matter how much I tried to slow my car down from going around that curve…..It kept speeding up and speeding up. I swear to the Lord that is a very very haunted place.
When I finally got the car stopped right outside of Tagus, my friend Morgan swears that he saw the face of the devil coming at his window.
If you are into that sort of thing….scarings and such….Check it out!!!

I lived in Minot ND for 6 years and have been to Home Sweet Home numerous of times. It did have a creepy feeling in that room. After I heard about the drowning ghost, I would be out at 4-5 in the morning but I was too scared to look.
As for the town or Tagus or Noonan, I had a friend who went thru Tagus and said that once they got over the rail road tracks, their car died andcouldn’t get it started. She said that every building was dark like no one lived there. It was believe to be a Satanic Cults hide out.

I spent most of my years growing up in Minot, ND. I am currently pursuing my certification in Parapsychology in sunny California. I know for a fact that there are haunted locations in Minot. I am not sure about Home Sweet Home, but I have experienced things at the House Next Door, Charles and the little antique store on main street under the hair school. Paranormal activity is out there whether you believe or not.

Hi there I have lived in Minot all my life. There is a lot of unexplainable things in this town. Now for Home Sweet Home I have been there several times. It is an errie place. When i was there the only candy was in a room right on the main floor. The attic had that door blocked off i looked through the crack and it was not a good feeling i had and there is rafters where a short person could have hung them self. As for Minot there is a lot of history with “satanic” people. The River of life assembely of God church was once a Masonic temple. A friend Cory Withers told me storys how when the masons moved out there was a lot of caskets and so forth, he claimed it was haunted but with the presence of a church there i highly doubt it. Now Then what about son of Sam? There was a murder on Highway 83 a few miles north of minot in the 1970’s it looked as a tank or some other large machine had ran a car over, rumor had it it was sos. Also what about the underground tunnels that are hidden under the town? Ive also heard of an air shaft under town and county mall that has tunnels that satanic people have rituials in. In oak park during the 70’s there was also alot of satanic rituals practiced. I have seen a tape of a “ghost” My friends parents redid there attic they claimed there was a ghost hanging from the rafters. Ive seen the tape talked to the family and even slept in that room. Nothing that out of the ordenary unless you are scared to begin with. So yes ive been to Tagus as well. With a Ojuia Board, there was a man that approaced us in a pickup told us to get lost and when he drove away the tires on the pickup were off the ground and he vanised. It seemed as it took forever to get out of there like a time warp so to speak. Now them i was also told there is an alter of human sacrafice there but i never saw it. So anyone knowing anything please e-mail me. opareo@yahoo.com

I used to live in North Dakota many years ago and while I cannot say I have ever been to “Home Sweet Home” in Minot, I can attest to some odd experiences I had at the Burtness Theater at UND in Grand Forks. I was supposed to open the theater for a show and was given a set of keys and told to unlock the building around 7 or 8 pm. Upon entering the building, I had the most horrible feeling and felt as though I would be in mortal danger if I stayed inside. I quickly exited the theater and later told others of my experience. They told me the place was haunted and some had even witnessed paranormal activity there. I find it amusing that some don’t believe in these kinds of things. Obviously they have never experienced the unexplainable. At any rate, I would never enter that building alone again.

I live within walking distance from Home Sweet Home here in Minot, ND. I’ve been in there numerous times and can say Yes; there is an eerie feeling on the upper level of the house. With the way that house was built, my thoughts were the person who designed and built it had to have been disturbed in some sort of emotional possibly mental way. There are many stairs in that house. And I’m not talking just a normal staircase with a lot of stairs; I’m talking stairs that go in all different directions from one room to the next. I found it to be uniquely fascinating but very unethical floor plan for a family to live in before it became an antique and craft store. It’s very beautiful to look at on the outside. There is a staircase leading to a round room on the third level of the house. I’d say it was just big enough for a baby room at one time but other than that not much use for the room. My mother use to sell her wood works there and she too felt strange every time she went into this house to check up on her inventory. I don’t know much about the history of the house, but I do know a rich railroad engineer built it back in 1899. But if you’re ever in town, it is a neat house to see.
