Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Home Sweet Home

Minot, North Dakota

Now an antique shop, this old four story building is haunted by two ghosts. The first ghost is that of a man who hanged himself in the attic. Now blocked off by a door, the attic constantly has a frigid draft. Also the candy in the room is moved from dusty jar to dusty jar; there are never any fingerprints, however. The other phantom is that of a man that drowned in the river behind the house. At 4:39 AM, the time of the man’s death, it is said that the accident may be witnessed again.

I lived in Minot, ND for 17 years before moving to a little town west of Minot and my mom and I love to go to Home Sweet Home and the attic isn’t locked. I recently had a baby and I can tell you my mom and I went to Home Sweet Home and checked out all the baby stuff in the attic. I love that place and I have never EVER heard of anything like that. Now as for Tagus, ND….I’ll let you know that is completely true! My senior year of High School 4 friends and I traveled to Tagus because we had heard all the hype about how it was haunted and how you hear dogs barking when you go inside the church and that when you open the door to go upstairs you hear a train but don’t see one. Well we went in the church and it was creepy feeling just being in there but we never did hear any dogs but when we did and I’m not lying because s*** like this freaks me out, we did hear a train go by and the guards were down and flashing and we didn’t see a train anywhere. It was probably the creepiest thing I have ever expeirenced and we quickly got together and went out the basement door and I personally shut the lights off and when we were driving away the switched on!! I’m not lying and I have never believed in that stuff but I was totally freaked out after that and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. 1 week after we had went there the church had burned down. I believe the stories about Tagus, ND.

to the bar owners; there is NO BAD PUBLICITY. the bullock hotel-bar-casino in deadwood s.d. gets about half of it’s business because of haunted stories about it; MORE FLIES WITH HONEY THAN VINEGAR?? try and think good thoughts!!

I’ve been in North Dakota for 7 years, and have been curious about the paranormal phenomenon circling the state. A few of us are planning to go to Tagus tomorrow, and if something happens while I’m there I’ll be sure to post it on here.

I used to live on Minot AFB and went to church at First Baptist in Minot for several years (89-93). I can truly say those were some of the coolest years of my life. Anyway, I don’t believe there are ghosts. I think they are demons who are mimicking the people they see in hell; trying to torment us because they hate us and have no hope. Jesus has ultimate power and if you want to have ultimate power over these supernatural terrorists, freedom from the fear, guilt, and shame that they seem to revel in and feed off of, then I encourage you to read about him in the Gospels.

Well, Listen to this…I’ve been born and raised in Minot, ND and I have been in Home Sweet Home before, it did seem a little spooky, even before I knew what had happened…narrow, winding staircases and stuff..but, nothing too bad..there is a temp change when you go upstairs…However, there is a house on Central Ave, that I lived in as a teenager, a boy (I wont say his name)also a teenager used to live there, was brutally stabbed to death, shortly after that happened out basement door would open and close all the time, with many witnesses, after awhile, we were like “Come on in and Sit down”.

Okay, this is a honest true story guys….In Minot there is a house (apartment building) on top of a hill, off of Burdick…with vines running all over it…the apt is still there…when I was really young (Kindergarden)…my mom, brothers’ and me discovered in the basement (where we did laundry) some old books(mom said it was “witch docter” stuff, and some other things I cant really remember…but what I do remember is waking up screaming day after day because of a heavy pressure of me that wouldn’t let me move or anything…a weight a cant describe…and when it finally lifted off of me I’d be screaming day after day…has anyone ever felt that before???

I live in Minot and would welcome the opportunity to see and experience some of the wierd things that people describe happening to them. I have been to Tagus (since the church burned) and stopped at the cemetary. nothing happened. my truck slowed down at the corner, didnt stop after the tracks, hell i even turned around and went back through. Drove up the hill going to the cemetary and looked around in the cemetary, once again nothing happened. But at any rate whether anything happens or not i still love seeing old towns. any yall around here want a hunting partner i am always looking for something like that to happen to me so i would not be such a skeptic.

ok, i’ve lived in the minot area my whole life. i have been to “home sweet home” and haven’t had anything happen either. but all of you that are saying that nothing has ever happened in minot think that ghosts aren’t going to come around with a bunch of people there. take home sweet home for example: when were you there? i bet during the day with all sorts of people coming in and out. of course nothings going to happen. as for everyone saying that things don’t happen in tagus. i bet you only went out there once or twice and just drove around. or sat in your car for a little bit. i’ve been to tagus also, it’s not far from where i went to school. and it’s just an eerie feeling being in the town. when we went there the church was all boarded up, but we got out and walked around a little bit. nothing that we could tell was happening because it was a really windy north dakota night. but the closer we got to the church the heavier our chests got like something was trying to “push” us away. so, just for all of you skeptics, just because you didn’t see something happen doesn’t mean that things aren’t out there. it doesn’t mean that all this information everywhere about these places are false either. ghosts aren’t just sitting around for everyone to see. i’m just trying to stick up for my roots and i’m sick of everyone saying that all this is just a hoax. just because a few random people didn’t see anything, doesn’t mean things don’t exist.

Hello! My friends and I have looked everywhere for a haunted place to go! we’ve been to home sweet home several times, and it does have a strange feeling at night but during the day, its a great place to get some cool candles!! The bridge, we didn’t see anything floating in the river, but I do have friends that have had experiences saying the girl was there from home sweet home… I don’t know, I’ve been to Tagus 3 times, and haven’t experienced anything but there was one time when it was winter, and of course the exhaust from the car was rising, and my brake lights were on, i thought i saw the shadow of a man (which very well could have been a man) behind the car, so I took off. But I’m looking for a good place to go!! Send me your input!! onesbeverage@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Me and my friends Matt and Dylan went there on Monday, August 11 2008 from about 4:20 to about 4:45 and we didn’t see anything. We were at the correct site behind Home Sweet Home but unfortunately we didn’t see anything =/.

OK, you guys . . .
Home Sweet Home is not haunted at all. The only place I have ever heard anything like that is right here on this blog. I had been to the “Mike Myers” house several times and my friends and I used to go to Tagus every night (sometimes twice). I could tell many, MANY stories about that town that would make skeptics doubt themselves. If anyone has any questions about Tagus or the serial killer house, please e-mail me at jcastro_17@yahoo.com .

Hello Everyone! I’ve lived in Newtown,ND Almost my whole life. And The Village is one of the most places where we get spooked. My Uncle Jr. was out drinking one night with his brothers and they were back in the hills and apparently saw little small men.People say that those small men are twice as strong as a full grown man ,but yet small sized.Tey chased him and knocked him down and when my uncle woke up they were gone. Also, my Grandma who also lives in The Village puts salt or else sugar on the table for them. But one thing before I go. DON’T MESS WITH THEM!
