Real Haunted House

Hotel Alex Johnson

Rapid City, South Dakota
By Lisa

Built during the Roaring Twenties, Hotel Alex Johnson is one of the nation’s top haunted hotels, and is home to a few ghostly inhabitants.

One ghostly inhabitant is that of the “Lady in White.”  She haunts the 8th floor of the establishment and pays particular attention to room 812.  The tale states that she plummeted to her death from the 8th floor.  She frequented the hotel and was known to have a hefty inheritance.  No one knows the exact details of her death, but many believe it was not suicide.  She has been seen wearing a white dress and roams about the 8th floor.  Workers have reported open windows in room 812 and dresser drawers being pulled out, when the room is empty.

Another ghostly entity is that of Alex Johnson, the owner, who is said to still lurk around the hotel…because he just can’t be away from it.  People have seen him and also have heard the sounds of a piano playing and conversations throughout the hallways.
