House across from Victoria Cemetery

07.23.2005 | 9:46 pm | Marshallberg, North Carolina, United States

In this house, the lonely wife of a fisherman began having an affair. Soon, she gave birth to her lover’s baby. As she heard her the fisherman approaching, she killed the baby and buried it under the porch. Eventually, the woman went insane because she kept hearing the baby’s cries. It is said that if one stands on the porch, the baby’s cries may still be heard.

  6. Anyone interested in the paranormal, I am co founder of a local group in Fayetteville, North Carolina called NAM GHOST HUNTING SOCIETY. My partner and I are looking for some new members willing to go on investigations. We have already partially investigated the Vander Light haunting and are currently working on a new investigation at the Clarion Prince Charles Hotel. We still have to go back to with our equipment to Vander, but we did catch pictures of several orbs and ectoplasm. Our contact info is on our web site. http://www.namghs.com.

  8. Alright Jon! Nice comment! Long Live the Confederacy! Anyways, I live in the house across from the Victoria Cemetery. No paranormal investigators are welcome at or in my house for three reasons: 1.) Nothing strange goes on here. You can’t hear the baby’s cries! 2.) We took up the porch once, started digging, and didn’t find anything. No bones or nothing. 3.) Try the Victoria Cemetery. I swear that sometimes the cemetery is there, and sometimes it isn’t! I hate living across from it.

  13. Have an open mind, people…This could or could not be true, but ones saying you are the baby could be bad karma and could come back to bite you in the a–! Be careful what you say.

  16. She went insane and began to hear the baby cry? I would have to say that if this were a real incident that she was already insane! This small oversight alone proves that this story is mere legend.

  22. Okay this isn’t true it is just a mockery of Tale Tale Heart written by Edgar Allen Poe. It’s an poem a man killed his freind and burried him under his house, but the guilt drove him mad and started hearing the thumping of his friends heart!!!!
Come on do you people not know anything about history at all!!!!

  26. That is very sad. Why would someone kill a baby for some stupid man? Heck yeah I would go insane if I killed my baby and heared it cry at night.

    Comment by Stephanie | 10.16.2007 | 1:52 pm

  27. There are quite a few black people in town here but this has nothing to do with race so please dont make it about race and I have to agree if she killed her child she was insane all ready. I have visited but heard nothing.

    Comment by Donna | 10.31.2007 | 2:47 am

  28. Yeah I agree with Tiff. Edgar Allen Poe wrote a storie just like this. the same moral and everything they just switched the word’s around in it and made it ALOT shorter. Not cool.

  29. It is sad but true!!! It’s all true, my father and I drove to the house parked on the front lawn and waited for a moment;after waiting for about 5 minutes we heard, what was believd to be the baby’s cry! The crying then died out and the dull noise of the baby being killed appered. It was a terrible sound to anyones ears!!!
