Jamestown Bridge
During stormy and foggy nights, a young girl has been spotted standing under the bridge. She was supposedly killed on her way to the prom, and is still wearing her prom dress. She now attempts to get a ride home from passing motorists, but on the way, she vanishes.

Okay, anyone who lives in the triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem) of North Carolina or in/around Jamestown knows this story.
Here are things that are true in every version of the Lydia story.
She is coming back home after a fight with her boyfriend from a dance in Raleigh (not prom).
She is in her party dress, but appears normal (not bloody/scary).
She asked men for a ride home, but when the men try to drop her off at her parent’s house, she vanishes.
She may have moved to a bridge on high point road, since the Jamestown bridge has since been abandoned and there have been reports of a vanishing hitch-hiker on high point road who matches Lydia’s description.
Thank you for reading. Please, use some sort of common sense when posting, so you don’t take away from the story and annoy others.

I grew up in Winston-Salem and live in Greensboro. I’ve heard Lydia’s story all my life. Most natives here have heard about her.

thats not how the story go’s is I October 13 a fifteen year old girl she was walking to her house at 11 pm but then a man stoped and ask her if she wanted a ride she said ok and got in his car, afterwards that man rapped her and killed her and then left her on that same road on the floor so now every october 13 at 11 pm, only the men see her walking on that same road and when they stop and ask her if she wants a ride she will always say yes, but you say no to her she will appear on the back of your seat, but if you do she will show you wear she lives but then when she gets of and goes in to her house a old lady would come out and ask you what do you want and they tell her that they came to leave her daughter and she always tell’s them that she died a long time ago that same day but the girl would never show her face.

Alot of people get upset about ghost stories saying that they’re not real. If you really didn’t believe in them why are you looking them up on the internet. The fact is whether they’re real or not it’s always fun to hear them. So instead of getting up here and critizing them just enjoy the story. What’s the saying if you don’t got anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.

Geez, I have never heard so many different version of Lydia’s story. I am 44 and I have lived here all my life. Kit F. has the facts as I have always heard them.
In the winter, if you look closely to your left (coming from Greensboro into Jamestown) you can still see the old bridge where the accident happened.
I personally do not know anyone who has picked her up, but I have heard the stories just as Kit stated. Of course everyone knows someone who knows someone who picked her up.
I do think that the story is that it was a rainy night and she only appears on rainy nights. But I could be wrong.

I have heard three different types of this story, the first one i heard was that she and her boyfriend were on there way back from an Opera on a rainy night and she and her boyfriend got in a car accedent and she died but her boyfriend survived, the second one was that she was on her way back from a dance and she and her date got into an argument and she told him to let her out at the underpass, and then this one says that she was on her way to prom and got killed. So i dont really know if it’s true or not but i’m not one to say anything i’ve never been to Jamestown but i’d really like to go sometime at night and see if the story is really true!

I lived in Greensboro for almost ten years. These were the best times of my life (even though I went through some hard times). I’ve been in the area coming back from mates houses. I would have to drive through the area (man does it get dark out there). Well, to be honest I’ve never seen anything. But, it is not what you see,it is what you feel. My heart starts racing like mad.
My college is haunted to and that is also in Greensboro. There has been a lot of haunting in the Greensboro area.
You can feel something there.
