i want to annoy vera too!! I dont think that is true!! i just think it is creepy!! tell me where it is!

This is supposedly a true story. My class is writing a book on the history of Forest Grove and this is one of the stories we’re going to include, along with a few other hauntings including the rumor that there is a town under Hagg Lake. Apparently the old Forest Theatre is haunted as well. We have about 30 people researching the topic. Hopefully we will find some evidence that there is truth to these rumors.

I too am curious about the supposed town under Hagg Lake. I’m told I have in-laws who owned homes down there. I was hoping to find some photos. How is this class project coming along?

As far as there being a town under hag lake, it wasn’t a town but there were houses there that were down in a valley. They were torn down. The lake is formed by a dam and is used for local cities water supply.

I live here in Forest Grove and can tell you there is a town under Hagg Lake. If you go there when they drain the lake yearly(around mid November) you can see the roads and where houses once were. and they plan to deepen the lake and put Cherry Grove under water too!

Yea they theater is haunted just to let you guys know. I was recently in a play there and there were three diffrent “spirts” there. One keeps to himself but he is the most famous one and there is a girl who messes around with the lights in the light box and there is one of a little girl who runs up and down the walkways in the seating area.

I love this place it give’s you a good scare!

I live in Forest Grove. My sister and her group of friends did a movie about the ghost Vera and stuff. My sister was writing something on a chalk board in the basement and her friend took a picture. and in the picture was a shadowy hand on her shoulder. I do have the picture. It’s really creppy. I think her and her friends spent the night there to. Didn’t see anything though.

I went to Pacific Univ. a few years ago, and I know it to be true that she is there, I have looked in the attic, and there was a siluette of a person. and I know for a fact that there were nobody in there. And I knew a receptionist there, and When she would come into work all her stuff would be moved around! Vera is there but she is cool!

I grew up in Forest Grove and the stories of the music hall is one that is famous in the town. Also, the lake use to be a town. And is drain or gets very low during certain season’s. You can see roads and stuff when low. Not to mention growing up there that a lot of people have died at that lake. Some bodies not found. I know of two people personally who past away there. Include a friend who drove off the road on the dam in a serious car accident. And the other was a drowning. Some were people who last seen on there boats, but never seen again. Foul play was susspected on a case, but never proven. Also a rumor of a place to dump bodies of Mexicains that some of the hicks out there killed. But that was just rumors around my friends.

What about the old children’s orphanage that is now part of The Grand Lodge? I met a former worker from there and he said he quit because of the ghosts that live there. Not only children but also animal ghosts. Has anyone else heard of this?

I have heard about all these stories. But the main one I heard about was an illegal cemetary under Hagg Lake. I heard people were buried there and someone made it an illegal cemetary and when the lake replaced the town the spirits took over the lake. That is why they say its haunted. That and there is a town under it.

Yes the Grand Lodge is haunted! So is Knight Hall and Old College Hall. I am currently writing a book using the history of Forest Grove, which I hope to have published by late summer. I also belong to a local ghost hunting group which will be conducting an investigation of these places very soon – we hope! Happy Haunting!

I boat at hagg lake almost every weekend and would like to know more about the history of it. When can do they drain the lake? I would like to find out so we can go see what is under us all summer long.

i grew up in forest grove and have heard all of these stories. i know that the grand lodge is very haunted. i have not experienced anything myself, but have heard many stories from friends. also, hagg lake is the place where alot of dead bodies show up. even some bodies of people they didnt even know were missing. about 2 bodies a year actually are found. the lake gets really low, but i have never actually seen anything underneath. there are rumors that when the water gets low enough, you can see some kind of tower that is still there over by the dam, but i dont believe it.

I live on Hagg Lake and I have never seen said roads or where the buildings were. My grandma lived in the valley before it was turned into a lake and then bought a house on the edge of the valley where my mother grew up. I have always felt uneasy about being home alone but never had bad feelings down by the lake. They demolished all the houses and a church but there is still the cemetery down there. I have seen the searches for missing people. I dont think its haunted but there may be spirits around.

There is no town under Hagg Lake. The low lying land in Scoggins Valley was bought up by the bureau of reclamation in the early 1970′s and the dam was placed in 1972. My grandparents used to own the house we live in now and it’s as close as you can get to the lake without being in the park. Yes, they want to raise the dam 40′ but recent seismic testing has confirmed a fault line that runs under the western end of the dam. The earliest the raise would happen would be 2019, and no, it will not take out Cherry Grove which is located on the other side of a ridge that has a height of approximately 580 feet that it would have to go over (that’s approximately 210 feet above the proposed dam height increase). Not to mention the cost of having to buy all the land for water. I’m trying to get the project board just to buy my front 5 acres because it’ll put my house so close to the new road location as to seriously affect our quality of life. Of course, the lake will only be about 60 feet from our property line but it’s not worth it so we can provide water to Wilsonville and Beaverton.

Just so you know.. There was a town under Hagg lake. My grandpaw had the contract to clear timber and the buildings out. My family lived in the town schoolhouse for a week during the summer while my Father helped out. My family still has some of the old school desks and textbooks and some other misc. stuff from that school. I don’t have any info on all the spooky stuff though.
