Leave Me Alone!

11.21.2005 | 1:40 pm | Indiana, Muncie, United States

There is a historical building where a women, who was pregnant, lived with her husband. Her husband was abusive and beat her hard and often. One day she stood in the middle of the drive and slit one wrist. Before she died she said “Jeff, leave me alone!” Right down the road is a tree that hangs over the road and once in a while you’ll see her and her little baby happy on the limb.

  11. What a total and complete farse. Its a made up story.
No truth to the suicide or the haunting.

You want us to believe she comitted suicide (while pregnant) then came back as a happy ghost?

  15. This story sounds like a crock– what does the phrase “leave me alone” have to do with the haunting that is supposed to go on?

And what is this “happy on the limb”? Are they happy hanging? Are they sitting on the limb, happy to be dead?

  18. This story seems highly made up. Unless the spook has been crossed over she wouldn’t be happily sitting on a limb just chilling. Anyways, If someone can not tell you where something is then it can’t be proven. At any rate there are a couple of really awesome places in Anderson and around the area in Mad county. I started a page on myspace dedicated to Madcountyspooks. Im going to put some pictures up and the storys to go along with them when i get time.

  19. I’ve read the story. I’ve lived in indian all my life. I’m less than 30 minutes away from muncie, my mom ran muncie growing up and we know several people over there. I’ve never heard this tale. But it fits right in with the rest of the stories from around these parts. Take ridgville wich is said to be built in the shape of a pentagram. Or the house in the woods near muncie, that if you go to it late at night every light in the house will come on. And the walls run red with blood. I know that house… can’t rember how to get there though. I had a cousion that lived near it growing up, the story that is told is that several murders took place in that house. I’ve seen it in the light and no thiers nothing hooked up that can cause that, and have also been there at night. Then theres the graveyard neer ridgville that is haunted and supposable in the middle of this graveyard is a creek with a bridge over it. The story goes that years ago a man murdered his wife and unborn child by pushing them off the bridge and drowning them. They say that if you go to the bridge at night sometimes you’ll see the woman, and that in the creek where she died is her wedding ring, but that if a man tries to retreave the ring something grabbs him and drowns him. I’ve heard every story around here. Ghost hauntings is a passion of mine, and i’m always interested in finding real ones. However to this date there is only two that I have been able to veriffy. And one of them I never ever speak of.

  28. Okay, to the person who said she could leave him….maybe she was really poor or something and no one could back her up if she left him. Besides, from what I hear, if you have an abusive boyfriend, it’s hard to break up with him. He can beat you up! As for the people who say it’s not real….we know!!! It’s just really fun to read scary stories, like fiction!
    ….No offense, people!

Seriously, How can a ghost be sitting happily on a limb after her husband had abused her and she killed herself?!

  44. I have to say that I am absolutely amazed at how ignorant and and/or stupid some of the people are that post on this site. First of all, PLEASE use spell check; get hooked on phonics. Secondly, don’t even bother wasting seconds/minutes of someone else’s life - unless you have something useful to say. Geez!

  45. I go to school in muncie and I have heard this story several times before, I think it would be cool to check out. There is also a great story about a room on the 8th floor of lafollette (BSU.) My friends and I tried to check it out once, but of course they wont let students in, although an RA did say no one has lived there since a girl killed herself.

    Comment by Ayreka | 12.30.2007 | 10:10 pm

  46. I’ve lived in Muncie 12 years and have never heard this story. No offense, but the odd details actually make it less believable. If you know where the historical building is located, it is possible to determine if a suicide took place there. A little research starting with deeds/titles…Then court documents, police reports, censuses, obits, etc. could at least tell you if a ‘Jeff’ ever resided there….

  48. i live in muncie,IN. i have all my life.
i have always been since a child, a fan of paranormal and as much as i’d love any ghost story to be true, i’m also a scientific, rational person.

Unfortunatly i have to inform you all that this story is not true, at least the ghost part. I’m not saying there wasnt a woman in this town somewhere at some point in time who slit her wrist but i have never heard such story and likely few residence here have either, but this story as posted is about as vague as it gets, however there no such ghost exists in any of the historical buildings here in muncie. I dont know who made it up, likely a local but it doesnt exist. There are mild hauntings in local houses here though.
