Real Haunted House

Lee Residence

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Pictures taken at this house have dogs, faces, fog, and mysterious glows in them. Videotape taken by an amateur investigator revealed balls of light going in no direction. He also found that a compass sways on one corner of the house. This house could be a portal to an outer realm such as those in Hopi legends.

Just wondering if anybody could give me the location of both the Lee Residence and the St Francis Hospital. Me and a friend want to go and investigate these locations. Where we work is haunted as well, and we both see and hear stuff that isn’t normal. (ie: Men in old school pilot suits, voices telling us to go away. I’ve felt someone run up behind me and start to pull on my uniform)

Penrose-St. Francis Health Center

2215 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907

the problem with investigating is it is a real hospital, opened for service and everything. they do have security. also investigating at night could end up being more problem-some. when is cold enough (like it has been lately) there are times the mountain lions come down and like to lay on peoples cars cuz the engines might still be warm. you could ask some of the night employees?

The Hopi are a Native American tribe. Several of their legends contain stories of portals to another relm.

I’m from Greece and here there is a photo almost the same. The photo i’m talking about was taken outside a monastery. The pic shows some guys who just wanted to take a picture and they are surrounded by many small balls of light. These guys didn’t realise until they saw the pic. So,i can ensure you that this is true.(my cousin was there when the photo was taken).

I go by the Lee house all the time. Its really freaky. i know this sounds stupid but i go ghost hunting. Im kinda a skeptic so i video tape. i dont go alone, my dad and his girlfriend go. we video taped the lee house when we went. me and my dads girlfriend were in the front seat of the car when we pulled into the driveway at night and saw a light that wasnt very bright. my dads girlfriend and i were freakin out. she stepped on the brakes and we both looked at eachother after the light got extreaml bright after going into the driveway. when we stopped it got very bright. there werent any cars in the driveway so i dont think anybody was home. we pulled out of the driveway and parked on the side of the dirt road. after we pulled out the light turned red. we stayed there for a min. and it turned really bright then it went off. all of us were scared so we left. I hated being out there because it was kinda far from other houses and it was in the forest which was dark. if anybody gets the chance pay attention to the address. something is wrong with it.

I live in Colorado Springs.
Me and my friend love ghosts and we are trying to find somewhere in our area to do some investigating.
Im just afraid they wont take us seriously because we are both only 15 years old.
Im not sure if these two ghost sites would be good
for us because of the fact that it is a working hospital and a residential house.
Does anyone know of any other places in Colorado Springs?
We’ve heard of some places in Manitou and Denver.
I have also heard that Helen Hunt Falls is paranormally active.
Heh, if I go to either places I’ll be sure and show pictures if you guys want!
Just give me a hit on myspace or something.
Bye!

Chris says:

The owners of the Lee house probably don’t want you to know where it is. Anyone leaving the address is probably afraid of getting sued. Good Luck, PS If the Lee House owners read this please leave your address. We all promise to look around from the parameter

The Lee Residence is in Black Forest. It’s a private residence, although you can drive up to the area and still witness the “orbs”. Take I-25 north to Route 83 for about 6-7 miles to the Black Forest Exit. The area is very dark at night, and have someone go with you.

I live in the Rockrimmon area and we’ve had many strange things happen at our home. At night I can hear things happening in the bathroom next to my bedroom (cabinets opening, toilet flushing..but none of it is happening once you go in there). I have heard noises like my husband putting on his belt in the bedroom at night but when I turn on the light he’s not there. Also right after we moved in in 10/06 we had almost every electrical appliance break down (the water heater, furnace, washer and dryer). They had all been inspected prior to us moving in. My computer is acting strange as I’m typing this now. I’m CONVINCED this place in haunted!! I moved here from Denver and have seen many strange occurances there as well. If anyone else knows of Rockrimmon hauntings please let me know

The Lee Family home is in Black Forest at 8325 Swan Road, very very creepy house, be careful and the people are kind of mean, so, watch out, because if a ghost doesnt get you, the Lee’s might

JB says:

July 26, 2007, 1:00 am

I live a about a mile away from the Lee house and run by it everyday on my morning job! I’ll post some pics if I ever see anything!

Brielle says:

August 5, 2007, 1:14 am

I live about miles from the Lee place. That’s unfortunate that they are rumored to be ‘mean,’ but in all consideration, it is their home. Would you like it if ghost hunters were pounding down your door all the time or if strangers were pulling up into your drive at night? Black Forest IS out in the country, and is therefore very quiet. I’m quite sure they can hear when people pull up into their driveway, and if they’re aren’t home, their neighbours will let them know. People out in the country take care of each other, and you can bet they would be easily riled by ghost hunters. If you want to go out there, ASK. Call them up. Use a phone book to get their number. Just because ghost hunting doesn’t pay certainly doesn’t mean you have to act like a kid, sneaking on property that doesn’t belong to you just to get a cool shot. If it’s abandoned property, that’s your own risk to get caught and fined. But crying out loud, have some respect for people like the Lees. I’m not sure when the last investigation was, but it was probably a LOT more professional than pulling up into their drive, getting freaked out and speeding away. Please don’t ruin this for the professionals. It’s hard enough to get respect in this field, and trespassing makes it worse.

Mark says:

August 5, 2007, 4:04 pm

I have been investigated the lee family home for quite some time now, and im not really sure if the log 2 story house was moved or what. But I can guarantee that the Lee’s do not live in Black Forest anymore. I do not know where you get you info but you must be worng, or im just at he worng address. I’ve been on the propert at the intersection between Swan and Pinery and i don’t think that this is the property. So can some one help me out and tell me where the property is.

Val says:

September 8, 2007, 6:03 pm

My friend and I both went to the 8345 Swan Road during the day and at night. The house basically just looks like a new log home, and there is no address on the house. There seemed to be nothing there, as far as being scared or feeling anything!!! Was this the wrong address?

A Friend says:

September 17, 2007, 2:39 pm

I’ve lived near the Lee’s house for some time now. It’s not an old house, just in an old area. I live in Black Forest and know that people in the forest watch out for each other. Haven’t you people ever heard of privacy and don’t you know that trespassing is a crime? How would you like to feel like people are stalking you driving up into your driveway at all hours of the night?
And as for St Francis hospital – that is a working hospital with real life sick people. You can’t go sneaking around in records rooms where people’s PRIVATE MEDICAL FILES are kept. If you’re sneaking around in there you deserve to be arrested for trespassing.

A Friend says:

September 17, 2007, 2:48 pm

Okay guys, I know it’s all in fun and stuff, but the Lee’s house IS a private residence. I live in Black Forest and it’s true that forest people watch out for each other. Imagine how you’d feel, people driving up your driveway at all hours of the night especially in an out of the way secluded area. It’s not an old house, just an old area. If it’s ghost hunting you want, try Manitou Springs or Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel. Private property means just that – private. Trespassing is a crime.

Prizm says:

Raid says:

October 16, 2007, 1:50 am

Ok, so you want to find ghosts in the springs. Don’t go bugging the Lee’s or the hospital. There are tons of other haunted locations throught Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. Try Sand Creek, Gold Camp Road, Helen Hunt Falls, Mulitiple areas of both Manitou and Black Forrest (unpopulated areas especially). Just remeber that CS in part of the area from the sand creek massacre. Also parts of CS and Manitou were places of ceremonial and spiritual significance to Native Americans. Just do a little more research and you’ll find all kinds of hauntings and paranormal all over Colorado.

I used to live in a house on El Sereno, 3 to be exact, when I was a child. It is in Ivywild. I don’t know what is going on there, but we used to have ghosts (full body apparitions) in our room at night. We used to see them when we were wide awake, my older sister and I. I also used to see what I now know are orbs floating all over in the house at night. My parents never saw them, but I still remember it like it was yesterday, and it has been 34 years. When we moved into our next home, not anywhere close to that neighborhood, I never saw anything there and finally slept well for the first time in years. Over the years, I have spoken with people who are a little more knowledgable about spirits, and they have told me that with so many, it must be a portal of some sort. I have thought ever since, that the hill in Ivywild that El Sereno is an area of spiritualness. People live in that house, but I feel if you wanted to go ghost hunting, you might try that immediate neighborhood.

The exact location of the Sand Creek Massacre has been lost, but historians have placed it in either Kiowa or Prowers counties, The possible sight is now a federally protected land mark.
The starting point of The Sandy Creek is NORTH OF Peyton, meetin other creeks west of Limon, becoming the Big Sandy Creek. So probably that sand creek that is in c. springs would not very fun,I think the real name is Chico Creek if my map is right

GOOD HUNTING

This is gonna seem really odd but it never really clicked, because I thought my best friends was just trying to pull my leg. But I remember him telling me about the Sand Creek Massacre and how the barn and the little shack on the property he was living on were haunted by the people of the Sand Creek Massacre, because it was part of where it had occurred. For anyone who knows the highlands ranch/castle rock area and where the castle pines area and gold course are, thereâ??s that road, at least when I lived there, was known as Daniels Park Rd. Itâ??s the property across from the golf course that has the huge house, barn, gated entrance and wooden shack towards the front of the property. The barn is known as Castle Cliff Farm if you decide to look it up online.

to protect a certain person I will not disclose their name.. but this person use to work at the penrose hospital and invited friends and I to explore the hospital knowing we were interested in the tales of the hospital. We began down stairs where they still have the old tuberculosis tracks and chambers so all together creepy but you feel very cold spots and hear slight moans of pain while walking down these chambers we were also invited into the morgue where to be honest I felt safer than other parts of the hospital. There is a small library there as well that is well interesting to say the least you can feel the presence of an elderly man who poeple say spent mch of his time there, he folows you through the bookcases following you but just observing there are also reports of a younger women in white who floats through there every once in a while. But the creepiest part was the old fifth floor which use to be the phsych ward… it is mostly old beds up there and storage units now but you can often here demented laughter and mumbling from old patients.. the phones ring up there on there own when there is no longer a connection to the lines on that floor and you are followed by old patients who flip beds and hold you in the rooms it gives you the chills.

My grandfather was in Penrose Hospital about a year ago, and strange things happend there. There is a service elevator on the south side of the hospital that is used to bring patients food. Well my sister and I used the elevator to get to the cafe, and on the way back up we went to the wrong floor. I think it was the sixth floor but I’m not sure, but when we got out the whole floor was empty. There were beds in the hall way, almost as if it was a storage floor. We went to go back to the elevator, when we heard something slam. We were to affraid so we jumped on the elevator. We told my uncle what we heard, and him and I went down there. As we walked down the hallway we could hear things slam and fall we kept going down the hallway and walked past the first room after the nurse station on the left we seen someone through the reflection on the window, when we walked into that room nothing was there. The bed had an indentation like someone was sitting there. We got scared so we left the floor. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I think the floor is still empty…

So my girlfriends family lives in Black Forest. It’s a fairly spooky place and I have know doubt that her house is haunted too, by a little kid. My girlfriend told me a story that when they first moved into the house, every-night at 1:30 she would here a knock at her bedroom door and her mom few rooms over would hear it too. This lasted I think she said like a month or two but wierd stuff would happen for about 6 months. She also said that one night her cell phone was turning on and off and she could hear the buttons on her calculater clicking and she turned on her light and she could see numbers being pressed. She screamed at what ever it was and it stopped. Another night her little brother screamed really loud and they all ran to check on him and he was pale white and in shock. He didn’t talk for a week then he said he heard someone laughing like a little kid in his room. Her other brothers who lived down in the basement heard their guitars strings being touched. …. Kind of freeky…. I don’t have the guts to spend the night there again….

And one thing about you guys checking out these places, I know your going for the thrill, but you are also disturbing the residents. People were trespassing and walking around my girlfrinds house and she was home alone with her little brothers. I don’t know if they were looking into the windows or what but it scared her. I was skyping her when this happened and it scared me to because she was running around the house turning off the lights and she was whispering to me in fear.

Colorado Springs – Adamâ??s Mark on Cascade – formerly The Antler’s Hotel – At least 3 ghosts to speak of, One hangs out after hours in the bar Judge Baldwins. The other is a woman in a long gown seen coming down a back flight of stairs. The third is a suicide on prom night in the 70’s of a young girl in one of the rooms.

Colorado springs – Arby’s – around 1996 to 1997 a manager was shot in the Arby’s parking lot by one of her own employees. Several things happen here, for instance whispering in the lobby, things moving from where you had put them to somewhere else in the store. so far the things have only happened when the person is alone. People have seen a lady walk from the front of the kitchen all the way out the back door. Sometimes when the opener is alone in the morning they may here their name being called by a man. When You close the store and put the chairs up the same 12 chairs every night will be found the next morning or later that night down again when NO ONE was anywhere near them. many other things happen there it is a very scary place.

Colorado Springs – British Home Shop – There are several spirits just hanging out at the British Home Shop with daily activity. One of the spirits has fun by locking you in the woman’s restroom. Several investigations have produced positive videos, orb and ecto pictures and evp’s. The owners of the shop will talk to you about the spirits just ask them.

Colorado Springs – Broadmoor Hotel – There was once a fire in this hotel. Guests have claimed to hear the ghosts of the fire victims.

Colorado Springs – Chapel Hills – K-Mart – There have been reports of displays being knocked over and strange noises back in the Garden Shop. Employees who have had to open the Garden Shop early in the mornings have reported cold spots and the feeling of someone brushing against them as they’ve gone through the aisles. The occurrences have been attributed to a former manager there by the name of Carl who passed away in 1998.

Colorado Springs – Cheyenne Canyon – Helen Hunt falls – The falls now bear her name. Her grave is up a little higher in the mountains in a place called Gold Camp Road. On the average of 5 people die around the Gold Camp area each year. If you drive through the tunnels there, something freaky ALWAYS happens. Handprints on the car, voices in the tunnels, etc.

Colorado Springs – Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind – Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind was built in 1874. CSDB is very old school. Sometimes is, deaf people saw some ghosts in the dorm, gym, and basement (the most scary place). Hearing people do hear stange noises from ghosts does. Deaf people saw ghosts’ movement the things but they can’t see the body.

Colorado Springs – Community Prep High School was Garfield Elementary – About 40 years ago two 3rd graders committed suicide, in one of the rooms down stairs you can still feel the coldness of the two elementary students presence. Also from students who go there now say they see and hear the voices of the two children. One student said that when they were down in the room they felt something pulling their hair while sitting down in the classroom. Until this day you can still smell what the dead bodies smell like.

Colorado Springs – Coronado High School – When the school first opened in the seventies, the pool was open to the public. Reportedly, a lifeguard invited his girlfriend and her little sister to do some swimming after hours. While the couple was making out in what is now the girl’s coaches office, the little girl drowned in the pool. Early mornings in the pool, a little girl in a bathing suit can be seen sitting in the far corner of the pool area. Strange cold spots or things rubbing against swimmers have also been reported.

Colorado Springs – Days Inn – Airport – There is an older gentleman that haunts room 207 at the Days Inn-Airport. There have been reports of cold spots, curtains opening and closing and “thumping” when no other guests are present. Hotel staff knows about him and the housekeepers don’t like to clean that room without at least two others nearby.

Colorado Springs – Devonshire Square Apartments – The apartment is pretty old, I haven’t been able to find exactly how old in research. At least four people in the building have seen an apparition in the sauna (in the weight room), and all four times it has been described as disappearing once the person entered the room. The light is in the room, so you have to actually enter to turn it on, and beforehand you could easily mistake a ghost inside as being another person.

Colorado Springs – Gold Camp Road – The tunnels along the road are haunted by the spirits who built the in the 1800’s, the road was originally a railroad from Colorado Springs to cripple creek but was the tracks were later removed to allow for transportation by car. In the late 70’s a school bus of elementary kids were taking a field trip up the road. With that said, you must realize that Gold Camp Road is a narrow, dirt road, winding around sharp corners across the mountainside. Tunnels had to be dug through the mountain in 3 different locations to allow the train tracks to be laid. The true story follows. As the bus approached the third tunnel, rocks and boulders began to slide down the mountain, slamming into the bus.. Most people assume that the driver probably feared being knocked off course by the boulders and took shelter inside the tunnel. Unfortunately, the boulders were shifting due to an earthquake, which caused the tunnel to collapse around the bus, suffocating all inside. To this day, the tunnel has never been fully dug out. It is still closed off, though most of the debris has been removed. The evidence that this is true, is there in the tunnel. When workers began to dig the bodies out, they realized that the roof of the now demolished bus, was the only thing keeping the tunnel from crumbling completely. If you dare to wiggle through the hole(someone else was curious) in the chain link fence that now surrounds the tunnel, you will see the roof of the school bus, hanging from the top of the cave like tunnel. It has been attached firmly to beams, in an effort to keep the roof of the tunnel up.

Colorado Springs – Harrison High School Auditorium- It is said that the ghost of a young thespian named Malcom haunts this Auditorium. You can hear his footsteps on the stage and catwalk. If you venture up to the catwalk area you may see a glowing light coming from no light source. Once a young woman slipped on the catwalk and nearly fell to what could have been her death when she felt someone grab a hold of her, pulling her back to safety. When she caught her breath and looked for her hero, she found no one, but felt something brush her cheek as if being kissed.

Colorado Springs – Lee Family Home – This home, located near the Black Forest area, has been on “Sightings” and has had several paranormal investigators visit. There are over 20 spirits that haunt the house and the grounds. Apparently it is a spiritual portal lying on the crossing of two major ley lines, according to a Hopi Shaman.

Colorado Springs – Liberty High School Auditorium – During the building of the Catwalk, a man fell and landed on the seats, breaking his back. He suffered a long death. During shows he will occasionally turn off/on one or two lights. If you sit on the stage in the dark you will head footsteps on the catwalk then the sound of something falling.

Colorado Springs – night club – In the 1950’s, a previous owner shot her husband and than hanged herself in the basement. Almost all employees have heard whispering or seen her ghost. None of them will go down to the basement alone.

Colorado Springs – Palmer High School – In the sixties or seventies, a student hung herself in the first floor restroom after being denied a role in a production of Macbeth on its opening night in the school auditorium. Poltergeist-like activities occur when someone in the school auditorium says ‘Macbeth’ just prior to the premier of a play cr performance. Take heed: such occurrences can be disastrous, leading to the termination of the production due to damages done on stage. This is often accompanied by the sound of the empty seats in the balcony being opened and closed. During an assembly in the spring of 1998, a noose was seen hung above those seats.

Colorado Springs – Pioneer’s Museum – It is supposedly haunted by a manager who was shot dead by an employee over a pay dispute in 1959 (not sure about the year). The security guards who have to patrol the museum at night try to avoid the guy’s former apartment because they feel very uneasy there.

Colorado Springs – Rock Ledge Ranch – This was once a hospital for Tuberculosis patients in the 1800s. Lights turn on by themselves, footsteps can be heard in the upper levels. The antique rocking chair in the basement moves by itself.

Colorado Springs – Rockrimmon – McDonalds – Legend has it that the building site was previously an Indian burial ground. Currently during business hours employees had reported hearing children scream as if they are being killed, along with children playing around the fryers. It is said at night during closing hours a Indian chief has been known to shut off lights, push people and move things. Along with things opening closing and starting by themselves.

Colorado Springs – Wendyâ??s – A few days after it opened, one of the workers was closing up and he went to empty the trash and found the body of a dead girl about the age of 16 in a ballerina costume. Late at night you can hear her calling the name “Tommy” and the sound of soft music.

Colorado Springs – The Underground – This bar is next door to a building that once housed a mortuary. Reportedly, during major epidemics and the like, bodies were stored in the basement of what is now The Underground, in the back bar area known as ‘The Pit’. Several employees have reported things being thrown about and broken in a locked storage area when nobody is down there. Numerous pictures taken there have shown orbs of varying sizes and degrees of brightness. There are also reports of a female ghost that haunts the elevator and hallways in the upper stories of the building, which house offices.

To katie the St Francis hospital referred to for this ghost sighting is located on pikes peak ave west of union blvd. It is not far from 2 other local haunts the deaf and blind school and the union printers home. I don’t know about penrose main which is the one on cascade ave it is newer but people do die there. Note all of these locations are active businesses and admittance for you er purpose is slim. All 3 locations on pikes peak ave are over 100 years old and the union printers home and St Francis were used as tuberculosis hospitals in the past days. If you wish to visit St Francis hospital you will have to do it before the end of 2010 as it will close at the end of the year.

Cheyenne Canon is a great place to go ghost hunting at. I’ve experienced a number of strange things up there including orbs, full apparitions, and voices that can’t be explained. I have 2 favorite places I go up there, one is the first pulloff on the right after driving past the visitors center, the second is a trail off of the large parking lot where it splits into High Drive and Gold Camp. Hope you have fun!

You guys should leave the Lee’s alone! If they wanted you to come snoop around their house, they would give you the address themselves. I am related to the Lees’s and have been to the house, and I have never seen anything. Just leave them alone and let them live their lives. There is a reason they live in the woods! To keep away from you guys!

People go places, like the Lee House, to get spooked. Its quite the rush of feelings. I myself have never been but I think it sounds really creepy. Doesn’t it make you wonder though? Have any of you ever thought about what expierences the Lee’s had or whoever is living in there now has? I think its something I would love to do research on. The thing is, there is hardly any info on this home…so if ANY of you know something about the background…hit me up.

I myself have not seen nor had an experience at the Lee house, but I am curious if the Lee house survived the big black forest fire this year. I do believe the fire devastated the swan road area but I could be wrong .

First off where the Lee’s house is located I wouldn’t exactly call it “the woods”. It’s surrounded by trees but it’s not even in the mountains, it’s on the east side of I-25 for god sakes! Second, I drove past it recently & Steve Lee was outside & he totally freaked out seeing my car just driving by! He yelled something at us, ran to his van & chased us like 3 miles down the road heading back to I-25 before he gave up & turned around! He wasn’t behind us the whole time but out of no where he popped up behind my car!! I had read on an Examiner article that Steve was very hostile & paranoid and I can tell you, it’s true!! The house is very beautiful but seriously, unless you want a crazy red neck chasing u in his old beat up van, I’d stay away from Swan Rd!

Too clear up some questions for the curious, our family is related to the Lees. The house did survive the fires and is still standing. Most of the items mentioned here are all true and have even been documented by the FBI and classified as “Unexplainted” As far as Lee chasing someone just this year is all B.S as the house has been sold a long time ago and the Lee’s haven’t live there for over a year.

DO NOT GO TO THE LEE HOUSE. That crazy mother ****** and his son came out and threatened to kill me and I hadn’t even made it past the front entrance. They blocked me in with their cars and said they were going to shoot me! His son had a tire iron in hand ready to beat someone! I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING THERE AT ANY TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT. BE CAREFUL IF YOU DO. They have a silent alarm and cameras everywhere too. And they are ******* psycho!!! I’m lucky I got out alive. I even had to call 911 to get myself out of there!!

Ghost hunting? Visit 4205 Shoup Road, Black Forest. The place is an old fox farm converted to a home and currently owned by a church. There is an entity living there and it has been there for many years. I believe it is a poltergeist.Good luck!

I know these people as I used to live in Black Forest. Mr. Lee has told me in confidence that the entire mystery of house being haunted is faked. They did it just for the publicity. As for his rage and paranoia, he smokes mass quantities of meth. I hope this clears up some thoughts on the faked haunted house. I guess it’s just something to do when you’re up for days with nothing to do.

The Lee house survived the BF fire of 2013. I suggest everyone leave the Lees alone and not try to look up their home. Their one son, Steve, passed away in 2010. As far as the haunting being a made up story, that doesn’t ring true since scores of independent investigators, the state Senator, and others have visited and documented the sightings and occurrences themselves. I’m sure that over the years the stress of the occurrences and then the death of their son has taken a physical and emotional toll on the Lees. Their circumstances should not be used as entertainment fodder for foolish amateur “ghost chasers.”
