Real Haunted House

Left in the Hallway

Alhambra, California

This house is said to have been built around the turn of the century by an elderly man with many children. When the man died in the 1940’s of old age, he left his spirit behind in the home. The apparition drags people out of their beds during the night, leaving them in the hallway. The man also has an affinity for doors-every door in the house that is left open is always found closed again.

I have heard of this story before. Some time during 1998. The story was told by a teacher of mine during lesson time, nobody believed her though.

I have slept in this house and was startled to find myself on the floor with my feet pointed towards the doorway, as if I was being dragged to the hall!!!!! Out of all of my encounters in the past, this is by far the most disturbing experience I have been in. Be there in the flesh. I dare you to tell me I’m lying!

What’s the address of this house ?
Alicia – if you are still around – did you believe in ghosts before you visited this house…and what caused you to go there ?

I had a friend who lived in the white apartments across the street on Elgin. There where 4 apartments she lived in the one that was number 3 or C I can’t remember. Well one day we decided we were going to ditch school (Alhambra High) so we went to her house it was the closest. On the way to her house it started pouring rain down on us, well anyway we go through the back door and there is about four of us in the kitchen, I didn’t hear it but claudia(the girl that lives there) goes to the door, like someone was knocking, she came back really pail with a blank expression. Somehow that expression scared the hell out of us, and we rush to the front door, I’m one of the last ones out the door I turn arround and see a figure, a man kind of old walking up the stairs, with a beard and a blue hat. I would of sworn he was laughing at us. That incident made me a believer

First Elgin is a small street that runs kinda parallel to Main St. It’s by Ross’s and the American legion hall whatever that street is that the hall is on, its the cross street. I don’t think many people would know it, it’s only like two blocks long. starts on Garfield and ends on Chapel, by Story Park. Apartment is white with 4 units. I think people live there still. She had seen alot of things there. That was just something I personally experienced…..Oh and Daneila that thing scared the **** out of me I only went in her house after that like once and I sat by the door ready to bolt if anything wired happened

Dearest People,

Who posted that haunted house story?
And where is it even located?
I want to visit it. And check it out. Perhaps solve a mystery if there’s one that needs to be solved.
If anyone has the address or any other local “mystery” tips then please hit me up at

Thankx! 😀

The Lonely Slayer says:

October 29, 2007, 2:24 am

Dearest Nicole R.,

Is the story you are telling about the apartment on Elgin the same story that is posted? or is it different?

I’m gonna flesh out all of these mysteries, with or without a talking dog.
And i’m starting right here in Alhambra.

Nicole Rojo says:

October 30, 2007, 1:00 am

the house in the story is suppose to be on the corner of elgin and whatever the hall is on. start with finding the address for the American Legion hall in Alhambra, Elgin is about half a block away you’ll see the apartment building. the house in the story is suppose to be across the street and old victorian-like looking house

but no The Lonely Slayer its not the same house, good luck to u and your talking dog. tell thelma and shaggy hello…lol

The Lonely Slayer says:

Dearest Nicole,

I checked out Elgin St.
I found the apartments where your friend lives, they are the ones right next to that building and parking lot, yes?

If so, then why in your story did u say you guys went through the “back door”? Apt 3 is on the second story. There is no back entrance. Did i locate the wrong apartments? In your story you say that your friend “saw a lot of things there”. Do u mean she saw strange things in her own apartment or the house in question?

Speaking of the house in question, i believe it is the house right on th corner, yes? It’s blue?

Well, hopefully you’ll get back to me.

You can all check out my link SPOOKYNESS INVESTIGATIONS, if u wish. :-)

Dearest Nicole,

I entered your story into my site.
Although i seem be a bit confused as to the information in the story.
If you would be kind enough to visit my site and make any corrections that need them then i would be most appreciative. :-)

OMG! That is so scary! My friends house is haunted.

She read it on the internet; 4 people died in her house. The man was a farmer he died from a pitch fork that he fell on in a stack of hay. His spirit came back and killed his oldest son for he was the one that placed the pitch fork in the haystack. The son was jealous that he was the one who had been killed so he killed his younger brother by poisoning his drink. Later the wife was all alone and thought about killing herself but never did. Her wife new she wanted to and then killed he by pushing her off the loft. Now-a-days you hear footsteps during the night and when it is quiet, music plays by itslef, shadows are seen on the wall and they stare at you if you are up alone at night from down the hall and sometimes if you step in certain places you can feel a sharp break on your foot as if a pitch fork stabbed you, It also at times leaves a mark.

The building directly across the street used to be a sbc building I think, not too sure.

by the direction your giving me it sound like it, but her apartment was a 2 story, first floor was the living room, kitchen and dinning room. the second floor had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen had a small back door, her stairs were inside.

the original story isn’t mine just something I heard before I didn’t write it but from what I heard it is the house across the street. I don’t think she’s (my friend) ever been in the blue house.

Everything that happened to her happened in her apartment.

Not at the house in question?

Chris says:

The house is located on the corner of Stoneman and Elgin. The house actualy sits next door to the parking garage for the movie theater on Garfield.

I grew up in Alhambra, I have never heard of that house but know the location well. I remember getting out of school (AHS) and entering the old homes that were deserted off bay state and commonwealth with friends. It was creepy at night knowing that the neighborhood that surrounded me at night was dead. all that area is now the mervyns lot. dang….what memories.

El Monte, CA Lambert Park I use to work there as a rec leader. After everyone left I was left to clean up before leaving. Once I knocked to check the women’s restroom so no one would be left behind. I felt that I was not alone I ran didn’t even lock the restroom door. I was using the mes room about two weeks later and I was again the only one working after everone left and I heard the freaken door open I grabbed my flashlight and took off running. In the office up stairs there’s an attic and at times myself and other staff heard like if some one was dragging equipment. Back in the day late 70’s there was a big slide shaped like a rocket story goes that a little girl fell through the bars from the top and died. I wish someone would investigate like ghost hunters. I would like to join at least I wouldn’t be alone. Lol

Enie says:

September 9, 2012, 3:46 pm

Anonymous is correct it is a blue house with white picket fence. This house has fascinated me for sometime and I’ve photographed its exterior. It is NOT abandoned I have seen people milling about inside. What is odd is that they do not have drapes or blinds on the windows, any light at night would allow anyone outside to see right in. It’s as if no one’s home at night.

The haunted house in Alhambra story is a little problematic. First, people don’t choose to leave their spirit anywhere. Dead people who have not crossed to the other side are stuck in this dimension for a specific reason (don’t realize their dead, suicide or horrific death, looking for someone who has already crossed, etc). Spirits are dead people who have crossed to the other side. Spirits choose to come back for a specific reason.
