The lemp mansion is a total experience now because they now have a murder mystery dinnter (overnight), which is really fun and exciting. They also have, every halloween, their own haunted house. i went a couple of years ago but they made it kinda corny because they have all these actors jumping out and trying to spook you. What really would be creepy is if they just left it like it was. dark. cold. unknown.

I really like the lemp mansion it is scary. i went t oa party there one time and my noise started to bleed and it never did before and i felt cold shivers and i peed all over myself it was frekin scary and my pee was red i guess i started my period there. now i am a women curse the lemp mansion from makin me a women but ya i gotsta go change my tampon…omg bloods gettin all over me! bye love ya lots

i live in arnold missouri and i haven’t been to the lemp mansion but my mom is going to take me one day in the summer. i told her we are going to spend the night ha ha.. never going to happen with her. my moms friend went to the lemp mansion for there honey moon and they spent the night they couldn’t go to sleep at all cuz they heard nosies and stuff. my friend went there and she took pictures she showed me them and in the atic there are orbs a seven foot tall man and a little girl and the little girl and man was standing in the back. the phsyic person had to say a saying in the atic to let the ghost come out and that seems freaky. but the little girl was standing right by my friend. this other picture had a picture of a lady painting of mr. lemps wife and when u look at it or take a picture you can see a mans face in it.. scarey and weird..

The Haunted Caverns of the Lemp Brewery is what has “all these actors jumping out and trying to spook you”. It’s a haunted house run by the same folks that own the brewery and Dr. Zurheide’s Asylum both fine “entertaintment” haunted houses around Halloween. I worked at Zurheides for a couple of seasons, and we went into the caverns underneath the brewery. Spooky as hell, seriously. There’s a PBS video called something like, “Caves of St. Louis” that has live video of the caves under the brewery. Check it out.

Me and my girlfriend have stayed they twice. have stayed there twice. On one occassion attended the murder mystery dinner, that was fun. On both occassion, we had somethiing happen. The first tie a radio turned off by itsself. The second time we awke to find several of the chest of doors had been opened by themselves. It is really a cool place and the food is very good as well.

I worked at the Lemp Mansion & can say that what is said of this place is very true. I have experienced numerous unexplained events, such as doors unable to open that cannot be locked, drinks vanishing from the bar (glasses later found empty on the mantle of the fireplace in the office room), footsteps heard when nobody is there, lights being flicked off & on, appliances being turned off while alone in the mansion, very visable apparitions & several other odd occurances. I highly recommend that anyone interested make this a “must do” if they visit St. Louis & spend the night, if you dare.

Me my husband and two of our friends stayed there a couple of years ago. Some really crepy things happened to us. The lights in the rooms we had would go off and on, both doors would unlock when we left the room. We where there when two paraphylolgst where there and that was cool. They went to the attic with us and had there equipttment and took picturs and me and one of my friends had orbs all around our head. We got some good pics of orbs and shaddows from the basement where on of the dining rooms is. In the attic there is a room that the ghost hunters said was where the Lavender Lady kept her deformed son was kept. It was a very littlt room with a crawl space for a door and when we took a pic there was a black mist in the room. I would recommend to anyone that likes to go looking for ghost to spend the night at the Lemp Mansion.

I have stayed at the Lemp Mansion twice. The last time was two weeks ago. We rented all four bedrooms and had the place to ourselves. We stayed during the week so there was no dinner theater. The first time I stayed was on a weekend and dinner guests were free to roam the entire mansion and expected to come into our rooms, not too bad but too much outside energy. Both times many things happened, smells, orbs seen on camera and by us, sounds from footsteps to glasses and silverware clanking, whispers, touches, you name it we experienced it. This is truly a haunted house but if you go in expecting a ghost in a white sheet, well you will probably see something like that. We did get some weird pics on digital, camcorder, and 35mm. have fun i would go during the week so you don’t have to contend with alot of other people in the building.

I have been to the Lemp Mansion on a tour. I have never felt anything so evil. When we got to the attic where they used to keep the deformed boy, my ex was poked by something. There was nothing and nobody around us but by the time we got back down stairs he had a huge round bruise on his upper chest below his shoulder. It had a darker circle in the center of it. I will never go back there. There is still so much bad residue left over.

Me and my mom went to the lemp mansion with friends and seeing how. I am young I got really scared just by talking to friends okay well. I went into there bathroom and seeing how theres only 2 stalls in the bathroom me and my friend t went in there and when. I was done and t was still in the stall. I walked to the counter to wash my hands and I look into the mirror and. I see the lady in the dress in the mirror I turn around and look and she was gone as look back in the mirror there she was again and even my friend t saw it but when you turned around to look at her she disapeerd!TRUE STORY

That’s the number one thing that scares me!!!!I’ve believed in ghosts my whole life..I don’t see how people could not beleive in them!!!! Sooo many stories…Why would people lie bout it??? I’ve been to the Lemp Mansion a few times – the most recent was for a wedding reception on Halloween in 2003. I recall feeling fine before we went in but as soon as I got on the elevator I began to feel sick and angry and sad. We spent the evening eating/laughing/talking with family but all the while I felt very ill and angry. As soon as we left I felt 100% better. The bride and groom stayed over and they experienced the faucet switching sides (i.e. the hot side produced cold water and vice-versa). They also experienced the chest of drawers being opened when they got up.

At the first time that I’m trying to see this house ( never been there before) back in 1994, Í was driving around the block on Cherokee street, (it was about 8pm at night) and then I stop to look at the map, after close the map and I look up….I was at the front of the house !!! this may be just a coincidence, but it’s sure make me very very spook at that time!! I love St Louis, I live there for 18 years and now moved to Portland Oregon . I love old houses there ….especially, the old James Clemens ’s mansion on Cass Ave !!!

Hey i have been there and nothin uncommon happened to me but when my grandma went she had a number of mysterious things happen to her!!!!!

We have been to the Lemp Mansion before. Took some pictures around the place, some of them came out very weird, unexplainable. You step in the door of the Lemp and you get an instant creepy feeling. A very strange place, but I like it, I would go back anytime. But the next time, I would want to see something happen right in front of my face. I would get real freaked out, but I would like it.

My husband and I went to dinner and took the tour. The only thing that happened was I was getting flashes of light in my face all night. It was like someone was taking my picture and I was seeing the flash. He didn’t see it. We were on the tour and he went into the restroom I waited outside in the hall. There was a Halloween party going on and I was watching it. Again, the light flashed in the center of the room right at me. I walked right into the party and over to the wall and nothing was there. I was sure I seen where the light originated from. The waiter said its just one of the things that have been reported and I was the first to report it that night.

We stayed overnigt at the mansion with 2 friends. We took many pictures and a video. Also used a tape recorder. Nothing unusual on any of them. However, strange sounds during the night…sound of the vault door slamming closed about 3 AM also sounds like a stick banging against the ballisters on the stair as a child would do…that happened twice. Also there was a sound of a muffled voice. Pictures in the Lemp caves at a different time showed many orbs. I don’t think they were dust or water droplets either!. T.R.

My wife and I and another coupled spent the night there. Food was great. Very boring night. We stayed up late toured the mansion til early morning hours. Not one thing happened. No noises, nothing unordinary. Old mansions are always spooky, but nothing here but good food.

I have been through almost all of the Lemp caves. Some of them have been closed off and others don’t have enough ventilation or oxygen to go through. Regardless, I was most disappointed when I went through the caves and saw no sign of anything paranormal. I’m going to spend the night at the house, hopefully I’ll have more luck there.

My first time inside the Lemp House was in 99′ just a couple of days before Halloween. Since then, I have been there numerous times, including Thankgiving, Easter, and many Sunday brunches. I’ve driven past the place all my life. All I have ever felt there was a presence which was most noticeable my first time there. And the only creepy experience that I had there was when a friend and myself stopped outside the place at 2 in the morning to talk about the house and we were startled to see that all the people staying in the rooms upstairs were staring at us from their windows! My wife and I stayed there a few months ago as well as my aunt, cousin and her friend and boyfriend. Upstairs in the renovated attic (Monkey boy’s room) was another couple. Being a skeptic I was hoping to see something. We didn’t see anything. We did the gift shop video and learned the history and the suicides. After the staff left we had free reign of the place, except the bar. For the most part the place is dark and lights are off. We took alot of pictures. All the digital cameras had orbs (?) but the 35mm showed nothing when developed. The caves have been closed and inaccesible for years. The other guy and I wandered around with a camcorder mostly looking for ways to scare the girls. There were stories of hearing a dog wimper, as one of the Lemps shot his dog before committing suicide. While in the basement we heard a dog whimper. Since no one else was there we were hesitant to press forward. Then we heard it again. Curiosity moved us to a small closet in the basement. While filming, we heard it again, in the closet. We eventually found it. It was a wheel on a large gas meter on the floor slowly spinning with a squeak. While convincing the girls to come down and hear the dog whimper, we decided to quick split and spook them. We eventually regrouped, after some spooking, and while leading the pack from the closet back around to the stairs, a large wooden door leading to a kitchen area, opened out and closed. Everyone was accounted for, there was no draft, no one was in the room. It is a large wood door. It wouldn’t move on its own. That is the only thing I can’t explain. There was also a chunk of brick from the fireplace in the attic that fell out. It was pure white in color. Inside was pure black soot and dust. Where it came from we don’t know either. My wife and I stayed in the room with the piano. Everytime I went in there by myself to get something, I felt like I was not alone, but I am convinced that it was just me hoping to see something. I am still a skeptic! The rest of the night was uneventful and the next morning on Sun we spent eating a great Easter breakfast in the restraunt. I would go back, but I wouldn’t expect to see much. Good history lesson in American Beer and breweries though!

The Lemp Mansion is a real haunted house! It is also a B&B. I’ve stayed there a couple of nights, a few years ago. I have plenty of experiances, including the radio turning on by itself (oldies), a glass bowl moving on its own when attempting to enter William’s room. The phone ringing by itself, & feeling as if someone was chasing you up the stairs. As you enter, you get a weird feeling, & the rooms are all stuffy.

I visited the Lemp Mansion for a wedding reception several years ago. I used the Ladies Room and was the only person in the room.When I came out of the stall, I saw a man standing there. Just as real as he could be until he vanished in thin air. I went out of the room a little upset but I really didn’t know anyone there well enough to talk to them about it. I was with a friend who had invited me to join him for the reception. And this friend is also a major skeptic. I had no background knowledge of the mansion when I first visited.But I have had wonderful encounters with unexplained happenings. When I was there the door we went in to get to the reception had an alcove where there was a sign that said there was a Parapsychology Office in the basement. I was wondering if that office is still there. Everything that I have read does not mention anything about the office. I was at a movie theater after the visit to the mansion. This theater has a rack that has information pamphlets about places of interest in the St. Louis area. I picked one up and there was a story about the Lemp Mansion. The whole history of the mansion was given. I have wanted to go back to visit again but I have not had the opportunity. I have never lived in the St. Louis area but I visited friends often for years. Now everyone has moved away and I live about 100 miles from St. Louis in another river town with a very active unexplained history. I have lived in this certain area for over half my life and I am presently living in the exact area of one of the Civil War fort sites of the town. I live in an apartment with my cat family and youngest son.There is definitely a presence here that has communicated with me. The apartment building is across the street from the Old Lorimier Graveyard. This is the first graveyard of the city. There is another apartment building that is right along the boundary of the graveyard. This makes me question some things because there were supposedly a lot more graves than are marked in this graveyard. I wonder if the building was built over some of the graves. I would love to live in that building for awhile. I have had many unique experiences some scared me and some were better because I was older and more mellowed out. I will visit this site often I am sure. Hope I can get up there to stay overnight sometime soon.

I lived across the street from the Lemp for two years (89-91), hung out at the carriage house and knew most of the employees and owners at the time. Heard lots of stories and couldn’t look out my front windows at night without getting the chills. Truly a creepy house with lots of terrible history!

i have been to both and yea..i got my fill of weird happenings.but when they turned the factory into the haunted house i worked there.we had unusual happenings in the lower and one upper floor.us workers thought that at first we were just seeing things but more and more we would be putting on our costumes and see something out of the corner of our eyes,hear weird footsteps,and feel cold spots .one of the workers when being on the roof was helping with a sign and when he raised his hand there was blood. after taking the piece to the boss, the tile was dried with nothing on it.needless to say. we were ready eighter to quit or just keep away from certin areas.i know much more about the place,(factory) but wont keep going .however i will say this.there is one place in the back of the factory that a wall has a certin red on it…noone knows exactly what but if you go to get it off ,it will reappear.told by boss after so many strange events.in my opinion you should go see.in my case,…well i wont be returning to the factory.ive seen enough for one lifetime.

Well I must say I’m quite interested in this, seeing as how I’m a direct relative of the Lemp family. I plan to make my way to the mansion as soon as I can. My great-grandfather was Lemp and we have all the newspaper cutting and such of the family. It’s good to know I have so much history! Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone!

Dude this is awesome iv been trying to get there but my friend spent the night there. She was totaly freaked out she said some of her things dissapeared, that night something woke her up and all she could see was a bright like and it got supper cold!!!!!!

There are several posts on this site that are ridiculous. Bob can’t even spell correctly or type complete sentences but he expects us to take his perception of the Lemp Mansion as fact.
I’ve known several people that’ve stayed there; some have returned with odd happenings to report, yet others saw and felt nothing out of the ordinary. If you want to find out for yourself, google “Lemp Mansion”.

Actually there is also a Lemp summer house in south St. Louis county (Mentz Hill) with coordinating guest houses. You used to be able to walk the grounds that were a part of a subdivision, but in the late 80’s or early 90’s the estate changed owners and the area around the property was gated with new homes built blocking visitors. It was rumored that a secret underground entrance would take you out to the river’s bluff. The home is gorgeous with a gothic look to it.

Upon me and my fiances second stay at the Lemp ( we are local and enjoyed the bar and dinning) all was normal until about 3 am. My fiance was sound asleep and i decided to take a bath in the amazing bathroom our room ( we had the Louis Lemp room on the top floor) After my bath i got dressed and decided to tromp down stairs and out the back door to smoke a cig ( when staying at the Lemp guest are asked to after bar hours slip out the back door to smoke and relock it before returning to their room). I felt watched while going down the two flights of stairs to the main floor. When i passed the painting of Billies second wife i felt as though her eyes were on me so i took out my phone and called my sister while i smoked. After smoking and a long conversation with my sister i bid her a good night and hung up. I laid down next to my fiance and began to drift off into sleep. There is a window above the door that light from the hallway shines in through (nifty if you need to make your way to the bathroom without awakening your spouse) and when ever a guest walks by you see their shadow disrupt the light shinning in. But you also hear their foot steps as the building is old. I was watching the ceiling trying to fall asleep when a shadow disrupted the light as though some one was walking past perhaps on the way to the soda and snack machine located next to our room. But then i realized there was no sound on steps or even of russling, there wasn’t any sound. So i thought maybe my eyes where playing tricks on me. Then the displaced light appeared again and suddenly expanded as though some one was standing in front of our door. I thought ” how rude to be wandering the house at this hour just to stare at peoples bedroom doors. And was about to get up and ask them if they needed change for the snack machine to make them go away. Then suddenly as i was getting up the shadow vanished. It didn’t move farther away or anything or fade slowly as though the person was departing it simply vanished without any sound to indicate some one walking away. The time was 3:15 am. At 4:05 am i was dosing when a sudden loud bang came from within the room (sounded as though it came from right beside me ) i quickly thought the ice tray had fallen over and scampered across the room to clean it up. The Ice tray was untouched. My fiance was sound asleep. Nothing in the room was misplaced. If you stay here keep in mind that yes it is haunted, but also keep in mind that if you don’t mean any harm then theres nothing to be afraid of really. The bar is delightful and the staff makes dinner enjoyable( not to mention the food is amazing).

I would love to go there and chaeck it out. I know a couple people who have been to stay the night, they say it is haunted. Their carema went died as they were trying to take a picture and the batteries were brand new. I love haunted houses and places. I would like to go on a tour there but to never stay the night. I want a tour during the evening when it is dark. I think it would bve a fun place to work at. I think it would be an awsome experience.

I reside in St. Louis and I have been to the Lemp Mansion on several occasions with other people. We’ve enjoyed great meals there, a couple haunted tours, and even stayed the night once. I have experienced several “unexplanable” instances. The first time there, we did a tour back when they were done casually at 1/2 hour intervals on weekends. We had a pretty decent sized group and we were in Charles’ room (the red room). Our guide was giving us some history on Charles when the lights in the room dimmed extremely slowly. It was almost unnoticeable at first, and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then others noticed it too. Everyone was accounted for in the room and no one was near the light switch. The light switch was not a dimmer switch either. The guide said, “Well that’s a new one!” We took pics and there’s some orbs on the front staircase leading to the second story. There’s also a pic of a basement window that looked like a whitish face on the woodwork frame. When they started the organized tours on weekends (reservation required) we did that too. I was armed with a video camera and it disfunctioned for the first time ever in the hallway area under the staircase cat-a-corner from the bar. After I got home it worked perfectly again. That same night, there was a couple that had paid to stay the night there. I don’t know what happened to them, but as we were leaving, we saw that they were loading their belongings into their car and high tailing it outta there! While eating there once, I brought my digital camera into the first level bathroom and had it on film mode. I caught an orb flying through the air in there. Then my ex-boyfriend and I stayed the night there a few months later. Nothing spectacluar occurred to us that evening except for a peculiar and extreme temperature change. There was a wedding couple staying across the hall, but we were alone otherwise. I couldn’t sleep most of the night because the heat became unbearable. My ex-boyfriend is the one to always get hot easily, but he was sleeping like a baby. My hair was soaking wet with sweat and I had to open all the windows in the room. My ex-boyfriend woke up to me hanging my head out of the window over our bed. After he got up, he was talking to the groom downstairs. They had the opposite temperature problem we did…their room was freezing cold. We stayed in the Lemp Srs. room, the one with the barber chair, for those who are interested. I have more experiences than this, but these are the highlights. I recommend going to the Lemp Mansion, not only for the spirits, but for the great food too!

I have been to the Lemp mansion. This was my experience. I was asked by my cousin to help with her daughters sweet 16 slumber party. At the beginning of the night there were both boys and girls there. At 10:00 pm the boys were picked up and the girls were going to stay for a slumber party. My cousin, my mom, and my cousins husband were upstairs in the bedroom talking while the girls said good bye to the boys outside. I saw a hair brushthat was slightly under the bed move. Now I was 22 at the time and I thought “oh one of the boys snuck under the bed to stick around” so I ducked down and lifted the dust ruffle to “catch him in the act” and no one was under there. I stood up and asked if everyone else had seen the brush move too and everyone agreed that it had. Needless to say I had to sleep on that bed that night and I did not get much rest.

We went to spend the night on our first wedding anniversary. After a wonderful dinner we rested briefly in our room in the attic- the Elsa Lemp suite.After some wandering around and several trips outside to have a smoke we decided to call it a night since the only excitement we’d had so far was being startled by the ice machine dropping cubes.It took a little while to fall asleep but we managed. About 3:30 a.m. I was awakened by a loud popping noise.After my eyes adjusted I was looking around from the safety of the bed and I swear I saw the bathroom door swing open and back a good 3 to 4 inches in both directions.It took a while but I went back to sleep.At about 8:30 the next morning after coffee and a muffin in our room ;we decided to go outside for a cigarette. When we were coming down the main stair way to the area by the front entrance we heard what sounded like a short muffled conversation between two men .My husband ducked down to see into the hallway better to see who was talking but there was no one there. We walked around looking to find out if someone had come in to work at that time and we found no one.The only other people there were already outside having a cigarette.

I live in St Louis and I’m grateful to the Pointer family for saving and restoring this important house and most of all, for sharing it-and it’s occupants?-with all of us. I’m always proud to take out-of-town guests there for dinner and a walk through the halls and rooms. My son worked in the restaurant for a year. A couple of years ago I took the tour and spent the night as a B&B guest alone in an attic bedroom. When the staff leaves for the night, the guests are given a few instructions and encouraged to spend the evening exploring the house and grounds as they wish. Very few areas are off limits to enter; I believe just the bar(of course) and other guest rooms. I strongly encourage anyone interested enough to make a special trip to visit the house for dinner and a tour, call ahead and reserve a room for the night.Depending on how booked up the B&B is, you could find yourself as I was, wandering the halls, rooms, basement, even out building all alone at 2:00 am. My son was frequently asked if anything strange ever happened during his time working at the mansion. The answer is “yes” As for me, I love the Lemp Mansion and am moved in some way each time I enter the front door. I hope you’ll come and see it for yourself. Bring an open mind and a readiness for anything you might encounter. Please don’t scare the ghosts even if they scare you first. They mean no harm, and it is their house. The only sure thing is you won’t be sorry you came.
