Liberty Theater
This theater is supposedly haunted by a woman, who spends most of her time lurking in the woman’s bathroom. The theater was closed in 1998.

i played a Quija board before,it’s really fun,and scary at the same time, your susposed to ask it questions and stuff oh yeah and me and my freind talked to her grandmother, turns out her grandma’s stuck in this porclin doll that she gave to her when she was little, pretty scray, but what trips me out the most is that the little thingy on the board moves by itself,it really does!!!!!!

The Liberty Theater is a cool place. My aunt does the janitorial work there…..and being in there, I have not noticed any incounters so far. She has told me that in the evenings, a male ghost figure sits in the chairs and watches the “plays”. The liberty theater is open again now, and has things that do go on in there too.

The Liberty has since reopened and has undergone a multi-million dollar remodel and restoration. There are many different shows performed there throughout the year; it is once again a hub for entertainment in Astoria.

I remember a chat with the former metaphysical
bookstore owner downstairs, where the cafe is now
before the big multi-million renovation … She was
genuinely afraid to go upstairs, because of noises,
boxes moving/falling by themselves, etc .. the local
network of psychics here always knew about the “man”
upstairs, some say they even saw him, but oddly, the
stories were always suppressed … now the new
director of the Liberty Theatre says she welcomes
all paranormal investigators, but most have moved
on to some of the many other buildings in Astoria,
and I was only upstairs briefly, a year ago, on
a photo assignment for The Daily Astorian at that
time …
If anyone who was involved with the bookstore is
still around, feel free to contact me, as I have
heard there still is quite a Wiccan underground
here … thanks joe@astoriamovies.com
