Scary things would happen on that thing at night! Lights would go on and off for no reason, the horses would turned around the wrong way and when they come back around they would be the right way, The music would act up......I'm telling you....something wasn't right. Even know Libertyland isn't there.....it still haunts me about that Merry go around. I worked there at Libertyland back in 86 and yes I worked on the Merry go around! The only bad thing that ever happened to me at the Fairgrounds was when a friend and myself decided to walk home from the fair, at age 15. We ended up running into a gang of thugs who attacked us and chased us back into the fair where we caught a ride with the po-po. As we were entering the police station there, we saw a very large man in the back of a squad car (so big he had to hunch his head down to sit in the back). The officer who gave us a ride back home said he was sleeping in his car with his family and the same guys who attacked us did the same to him and his family. Unfortunately, he had a gun and let off some warning shots at them, so he got arrested, while the gangsta went on to harrass others. I was working there at the time in 1976. A young black kid who was operating the Carosel was killed after his uniform became caught in the carosel mechanism.
