This article verifies the Mike Crockett story. Not really sure how the story evolved from a 17 yr old boy to a lovable old man...especially since this just happened about 30 years ago.

Oh and to add to this....It wouldn't happen when guest were in the park. It would happen after the park would close at night when we were cleaning up and getting ready for go home. I wasn't the only one it happened to...so I wouldn't jump and say it is BS and made up stories!

I worked there at Libertyland back in 86 and yes I worked on the Merry go around! Scary things would happen on that thing at night! Lights would go on and off for no reason, the horses would turned around the wrong way and when they come back around they would be the right way, The music would act up......I'm telling you....something wasn't right. Even know Libertyland isn't there.....it still haunts me about that Merry go around.

This is not true at all. I have lived in Memphis all of my life and went to liberty land every year when the mid-south fair came, and i have never heard of this or even seen him.

Never heard about the ghost and I am from Memphis, though I no longer live there. The only bad thing that ever happened to me at the Fairgrounds was when a friend and myself decided to walk home from the fair, at age 15. We ended up running into a gang of thugs who attacked us and chased us back into the fair where we caught a ride with the po-po. As we were entering the police station there, we saw a very large man in the back of a squad car (so big he had to hunch his head down to sit in the back). The officer who gave us a ride back home said he was sleeping in his car with his family and the same guys who attacked us did the same to him and his family. Unfortunately, he had a gun and let off some warning shots at them, so he got arrested, while the gangsta went on to harrass others. If that officer happens to read this message, thanks for giving two long-haired, headbangers get a ride home.
Never went to Voodoo Village, but I heard all the stories growing up. I did however take a ride along Caliss Cutoff (before it was built up with apartments and what-not). I saw the scary house way-off the road and the guy driving scared the crap out of us when he turned the headlights off. It was especially bad because it was a day or two after The Ice Storm and tree limbs littered the road. I wonder what ever happend to house? The story was that some crazy dude or lady (can't remember) killed his or her family there a long time ago.

I remember the death at Libertyland. I was working there at the time in 1976. A young black kid who was operating the Carosel was killed after his uniform became caught in the carosel mechanism. The reason the story is not widely known is maybe because the kid was Black!!!!!
