Real Haunted House

Lizzy’s House

Exeter, Pennsylvania

Lizzy and her husband were a happy, and well-to-do couple many years ago, as the story goes. This all changed once Lizzy discovered that her husband was having an affair with their housekeeper. After being confronted about his infidelity, the husband decided that he did not wish to stay with Lizzy. He pushed her down the stairs, and she plummeted to her death. Hauntings include sounds of thumping on the stairs, lights flickering on and off, and loud screeches in the night. One night, a teenage boy was walking in front of the house, and a group of boys drove up to where he was. They jumped out and proceeded to beat him up, rob him, and eventually kill him. One of the boys looked up at the house and noticed a white, floating figure coming towards him. He called to his friends, and they left. The person that reported the murder to the police only identified herself as Lizzy.

This story is incorrect. Also, the house is located in the school district of Exeter, NOT the town. Exeter, PA is a few hours north of the “Lizzie Lincoln” home.

The real story (summarized of course) is slightly less intriguing. Lizzie became ill, and her husband hired a live in nurse to care for her. However, he fell in love with the nurse and later ran away with her. Lizzie remains to this day, waiting for her husband to return.

There have never been any deaths on the property. I can vouch for this, along with both of my parents, who grew up in the area during the beginning of the stories.

@Ron, sorry to disagree with you Ron, but their was a murder just up Lincoln Rd in the 1990s a mans body was found in the field near the Lincoln house on Lincoln Rd. He was living in the old boarding home just down the road and was found beaten to death….I know it wasnt exactly on the property but very very close! And i have been in the house in the 80s when I was a teenager and been on the property many many times.

My EX husband & I were married in this house on October 31, 1998. We thought it would be awesome to get married in a haunted house on Halloween. We and our witnesses wore costumes. Unfortunately we have no pics of our event because the film was mysteriously exposed and ruined even though it never left the camera until it was developed. Also we were supposed to be filmed by a local TV crew but they were experiencing problems with their equipment to the point of the lense falling off the video camera and it only recorded static. We were married in the living room and heard thumping noises during our very quick ceremony. Needless to say we are now divorced but it still was a memorable experience.

I lived right around the corner from this house. Being sensitive, I would feel as if something was peering outside at me, kinda like someone was watching. Very sad.
