Lizzy’s House
Lizzy and her husband were a happy, and well-to-do couple many years ago, as the story goes. This all changed once Lizzy discovered that her husband was having an affair with their housekeeper. After being confronted about his infidelity, the husband decided that he did not wish to stay with Lizzy. He pushed her down the stairs, and she plummeted to her death. Hauntings include sounds of thumping on the stairs, lights flickering on and off, and loud screeches in the night. One night, a teenage boy was walking in front of the house, and a group of boys drove up to where he was. They jumped out and proceeded to beat him up, rob him, and eventually kill him. One of the boys looked up at the house and noticed a white, floating figure coming towards him. He called to his friends, and they left. The person that reported the murder to the police only identified herself as Lizzy.

I’ve been to this house 2 years in a row. I have every intention on going agian tonight. You can take a tour of the house. It’s a nice set up, I’ve never been to a scarier place. I don’t think it’s real but they do a great job with the affects and the crew. If you’re looking for a good scare I would def. reccomend going here!

There’s more to the story then that I live across the brigde from Exeter in Pittston. There was a movie made “The Smrills”. I’ve been to the house and I had a friend who lived in the house. If u would like to know what really happened in the house e~mail me at Tefe86@aol.com and ill tell u the real story it’s much more grim…….Mr. Smrills reported that he would hear grwals and snorts that sounded like a dieing pig and it was acompanied by a horriable smell and when he looked into the hall way he seen a half man half pig runing at him ……………….if u want to know the rest and waht really happened e~mail ok

So I’ve been to this house around Halloween one year. For anyone looking for a ‘true’ (if there is such a thing) haunted experience this isn’t the place. There may be a ghost here but with all the acting done by the crew and the darkness of the inside, there’s really no way to tell if its haunted or not.

I lived just a few miles from this house and can tell you that the stories are true. There was also an incident one time when a group of kids thought it would be cool to spray paint grafitti on the house well that didn’t work, somehow the nozzles got turned and they sprayed themselves…Way to go Lizzie!

My dad and his best friend grew up in that area and my dad says its not haunted and his best friend says it is. I have been here during the haunted house, years ago. and it was weird because there was no one behind me and i felt a cold hand touch my arm for a second. so i would say this place is haunted and there is alot of stories of people seeing her. they no longer have a haunted house i think because the house is in bad condition. if you want to know more about the house there is a story about it in ghost county of berks county by charles adams. this will give u an detail description of what exactly happened at the house.

Live a few blocks away from Lizzy Lincoln’s house. It is run down and people live in a trailer on the property now. They don’t open it for Halloween anymore. The story about Lizzy is true - but the place isn’t haunted. And it isn’t anywhere near Pittston. It is actually in Birdsboro, PA - but in Exeter Township near Reading. We used to break into it as kids - and there was nothing there. Just an old rundown house. Even Halloween wasn’t scary. It does scare the hell our of little kids, though. But is not a big deal. Sorry.

The house may be haunted, but it was more for dramatics then anything else in its day. Like a previous poster said it is no longer up and running; even for Halloween.

Me and a bunch of my friends have been trying to figure out what happened and why it is haunted. If you have any information let me know. I am dieing to find out. My boyfriend lives really close to their and I drive by all the time and I might say that it is the scariest looking place ever! Please someone fill me in on all the details!

I live right down the street from Lizzie’s haunted house on Littlefield Ave. and one night me and my friends were walking past the house and they decided to go lOOk at the house and go inside..and so i walked in the house with them.. and when we got in we saw an upstairs and decided to go up the steps and all of a sudden the lights start flicking on and off and then we heard a noise upstairs..it was really scary..i was like we should leave and they were like ok..so we were at the back door where we came in and it was locked!!! we don’t know how it was locked? so there was a window broken and so we broke it even more and just jumped out the window!!and when we got back on the street i lOOked at the window we jumped out of and i saw a figure standing there!!some say it was Lizzie and some say it was just a reflection!!cOme find Out fOr yourselF!!

I know I’m a tinsy bit behind the curve on this story… but my friends and i went on a ghosthunting extravaganza this past summer… and we hung out on lincoln road many nights… this place really has history in Berks County simply because many generations of families have thier own stories…
My family in particular has had a lot of history there… like a lot of families around here… i mean my parents broke in as kids and have thier own stories and experiences there… Generations have broken in there so the cops CONSTANTLY watch it (not even joking… if you go… park in the parking lot like two blocks down the street and walk, cops look for cars and the authorities at the factory across the way are not too keen on people parking there.)
ANYWAYS… i was waiting with my friend one night, and while my other friends bypassed the fences he went into the field to “relieve” himself. I sat down on a fire hydrant across from the house… but after a few moments he sprinted back to be grabbed my arm… when he didn’t stop i turned to see what was going on. He was completely pale… and all of a sudden i got really cold… (need i remind you this was summer… and there was no wind nor any thing else which would catch you attention like this.) My friends meanwhile were up at the house flashing pictures. Suddenly they stopped and a slender white figure emerged from the knee high grass behind us and shot across the street. (Personally, i tried to dismiss it at first as headlights turning onto the road, but no cars came) My other friends were up at the house suddenly stopped. My friend who was with me yelled once for our friends, saying “I think it is about time to leave guys.” and about three minutes later they emerged. When they crossed the street they said they had been fine until i had yelled for them. Then the camera had turned off and it got frighteningly cold. We told them what we had seen and they said they thought they had seen something white push between them on thier way to the gate. They also said they had heard me yelling something along the lines of “You’d Better Leave” but we informed them i had not yelled nor said anything. They had not even heard my male friend yelling for them, just the female voice, assumed to be me. We left and went to Exeter diner. A lot of the shots they had taken toward the end were very blurry, and some even had strange white lines.
If you do go to Lizzie please be respectful, honestly, if there is something in that house, it probably should not be disturbed. I actually read all of Charles Adam’s, Ghost Stories Of Berks County, and i believe the Lizzie Story in there to be the most realistic regarding our area.
Please be nice… and watch out for cops… it is private property…

Bella, It seems to me that you have as Little time as I, and that you are some what the Hypocrit. Had you not been a part of the class of which you so prudently defended, You would not have had the time to put so much effort into doing the same to me as you so convincingly(to yourself, I’m sure) accused me of. What is more pathetic than even what you claim as pathetic, is your ability to criticise me for my opinions when you blatently expressed more of your own opinion than I did. And You question my social life, Well I unlike many people have an intellectual response to that: I am most likely more active than anyone you know, (not sure, but usually correct), I am a musician of 31 years, have recorded for Epic records and was in Cream Magazine Oct 1993. I race snowmobiles. I fish in FLW semi Pro and Pro Am Tournaments in my Bass Boat when I am not riding My Vulcan 800(not an awesome bike, but a nice ride) And I dedicate as much time as possible out of my 85 hour work week to playing with my children and spending time with my wife. Now… what inspired me to break off into my fun little comment previously was the simple fact that I, having only a high school education, work in excess of 15 hours a day(my choice, not bitching)and I come onto a site like this because I also have a personal and familiar interest in the paranormal and I have to read a bunch of illiterate nonsense that only a ****** believes he/she can understand. Thus giving me the impression that the person who wrote it is probably less educated than I am (their Choice)and probably sits at home on public assistance (that I pay for, Not my choice)and types on a computer(that I’m sure I contributed to them owning) like a ****** at 4:56 pm when her fat *** could be supporting herself. Then has the audacity to criticise me with a whole paragraph calling me pathetic as she researches the times of which I posted two seperate comments. Then wonders why I (no acquaintance of hers) am on My Computer(that I worked 20 hours that day to pay for) at 12:29 on a Sunday morning or Saturday night depending I guess on what you were doing at the time. And then accuses me of being angry because my life is empty. How smart are you? hmmmmmmm Lets see, it is now around 12:29 am Thursday and I am on my computer again!!! It seems we have a pattern here. Aside from all that well spoken grammar(I’m not just the Grammar police, I’m the Captain), I thought I had fun the first time, but thank you for a totally hysterical and hypocritical mass of fun that was truly unexpected. I used to live on Shockley Drive. I think the house down the road from me was Lizzy’s house, but i was just a young girl when I moved so I dont remember. If it is the same house, which i think it is, its an old beat up house on a hill, with a crappy white picket fence thats falling down. The windows have boards that say KEEP OUT on them and there is supposedly a crazy old man with a shot gun that lives in the back yard in a trailer. If you try to go near it he will shoot you. I dont know if its true, I never tried. But I do know that there are creepy vibes that come from the house and ever since I was little, it freaked me out. Now i am in my 20’s and I took my husband past there and he said it was creepy and weird. I dont know…

I live near this house as well. It is called the Lizzy Lincoln house and while is looks run down and a bit creepy from the outside, the “haunted” house that they put on at Halloween is just for fun.
However, some of the people that work there have claimed to have had experiences that could not be explained. I cannot think of a good example right now, but I am sure when October rolls around the stories will crop up again!

I grew up in Exeter, PA its in Luzerne co. Northeastern PA. I went to school with Heather and Donna Smurl. They made a movie based onn their experiences called “The Haunted” But they actually lived in West Pittson which was a town over from Exeter. I have no idea abbout that Lizzy house though, or about a haunting on Lincoln Street which was few blocks from where i grew up.

It’s been about 15 years since I’ve been to the Lincoln rd. house and almost as many since I’ve talked about it. A recent conversation at work between an employee of mine and an associate from another department leads me to believe that all the theories I came up with to explain what happened might be wrong. I chose the name Skeptic because I firmly believe everything can be explained by natural phenomena which is why this is such a hard pill to swallow. As much as I have tried, I could not explain this by any means of science. As best as memory allows, I will explain. I can not remember the time of year,(though it was not around Halloween) but, there was a period of several months that quite a few friends and I would go to the house. We actually went all over the county using Charles Adams’s book as a guide but made many trips back to the “Lizzie house”. We really weren’t ghost hunting, just bored and looking for something to do, though it did get addicting after awhile usually playing off of each others fear to scare the heck out of one another. At any rate, the one trip that stands out… There was 6 of us, packed in a smaller sized car. We pulled into the driveway only far enough to get off the road. I can’t remember if the old rope and post fence blocked us from driving up further or if that’s all the further the driver wanted to go. The driver never got out of the car. The rest of us got out and walked around for a while when three decided they were going to go in. Me and a friend of mine since childhood stayed outside, I’m not one for breaking and entering. They went through a window in the back on the driveway side which I always assumed led to the kitchen. Once they went in, I could no longer enjoy this trip because I was to worried about getting caught because they made quite a racket breaking in, so I pretty muched stayed outside ready to run if the wrong people showed up. My other friend went into the spring cellar which is detatched from the house toward the back end of the driveway. He was probably in there for less than 5 minutes. I just paced back and forth looking at the house then looking for headlights. At a time when looking at the house a blowing curtain in the window on the top level toward the front of the house caught my eye. The curtain almost looked as if it was starting to swirl to the right, from my point of view. I was momentarily distracted by my friend coming out of the spring cellar but quickly turned back to the window and it was there, just staring. I motioned for my friend to come over and when he got beside me I asked if he could see it. It was a firm yes with amazement in it’s tone. This was not a quick look and done deal. We continued to stare and it continued to stare back. It was facing us but it was more like it was looking through us. Better yet, like it was waiting for some one to arrive. I don’t know how long we watched it but, It was definitely atleast 2 minutes. At this time, while we were still staring, the other 3 friends started yelling and came bursting out the window they had entered. Start the car, start the F____ing car! Well of course we took off toward the car also and left in a hurry. The staring at the window and my friends rushing out of the house screaming are burned in my memory and I can see it as clearly now as I saw it then. And I could see IT till the moment they came out of the house. I think till this day the other 3 friends either scared themselves or thought it would be funny to scare us by yelling and running. I will never say what I saw was a ghost and will always try to explain it some other way, but to date, I have not been able to. My closest friend talked about it later that night but refused to ever since. I do remember that other than our friends scaring us, there was no fear. It was more of a shock at trying to figure out what it was. It was simply something holding back a curtain and staring in our direction and I could see through it like a very thick fog. That is a description of it’s density, not color, it was to dark for eyes to see true color but if I had to guess, I would say a dirty white due to the blackness of the room behind it. There are some details left out because I would like to see if anyone else has a similar story and if the missing details show up, it would help validate that story in my eyes. 2 other incidents did happen on a seperate trip but I feel that I was able to explain them. Again, some one may have these too in there story. This is the only thing like this that has ever happened to me. Other than those several months with friends, I have never held a strong interest in the subject nor have I pursued the issue any further. It was all a chance conversation that I was really not a part of that made me decide to try to find something on the internet which led me to stumble upon this site. I do not ask anyone to believe but I do welcome all comment and apologize in advance for any errors in grammar.

This is just a story I have been in the house many times, it is near the landfill, it is just a rundown house.I was there at night many times with many people and we never saw a thing we were there drinking and partying ,the state of mind we were in if there was a ghost it should of showed itself because it might of scared us straight.

My earlier apology for grammar was intended to be a bit sarcastic but, you are correct. Who cares about spelling?
I mean no disrespect to Jim but, if, and I do mean if, ghosts are real, I doubt they decide to appear because you are drinking. Not to mention drinking affects your perception of your surroundings.
If what I saw was real, I believe it was just a matter of right place right time. I have been informed of the place by others who have been there many times and have not seen anything. I don’t believe it is a common event.
I don’t think missyngangel is refering to the same place as this does not involve anyone living today. I could be wrong though.
The fact is as an astronomer and enthusiast of physics (NOT psychic) you must understand there are things that defy our understanding. This does not mean something is supernatural it just means we can only understand what we experience as reality. What I saw may not have been an apparition of a person who has passed away. There are other explanations that are at the present beyond grasp. I will spare you the details as it may get boring but if you are interested, while you are on your computer, do a search for string theory, parallel worlds, or extra dimensions. Believe it or not, they are real things and you may also exist in another one at another time.
My motive for writing this was to see if someone else had a similar experience and intentionally left out certain details so I would have a chance at seperating fact from fiction.

OK well I live nearthis place and ever since i was a kid when i moved in to birdsboro and passed that house on the way to walmart it freaked me out and wel i was on the rounds of the house one night but not to close to the house maybe 300 fet anwe saw figures walking threw the woods making no sound at all its kindaweird and we have heard stoires of some kids breaking and one ieng killed and the only found the finger not the body, now i have no idea if its real or fake ut if anyone has any pics or stories e-mail me at Zepiswille113@aol.com plz dont be rude and e-mail junk only real stuff

I was at this place with friends in the 80’s. We left running. One was hit by something that fell from the ceiling. It was Alec, Dianna and another girl that a can not remember. Something is certainly there. What? I don’t know. Maybe just imagination. Maybe the power of the mind? I never returned even though I lived only 15 min away. When I visit mom and dad I still drive by and say “Hello Lizzy” as I pass. They never could keep the fence up. She kept tearing it down. The last person that lived in the house actually lived peacfully with the ghost. It woudl unplug the organ and play tricks here and there. But nothing really bad.

The House Is Really Haunted I Seen It With My Only Eyes.We had 5 People With Us And They All Took Off .I And My One Friend Still There At The house,She Was Right In The Room With Us.And For That Haunted House They Had For Halloween So Fake They Should Have Learn More About The House And The History On It.The People Who Worked At The Haunted House For Halloween Well Put It This WAy Their Acting Was Really Funny,Do Know How Anyone Would Get Scare Going Into That FAKE HAUNTED HOUSE FOR HALLOWEEN.And I Beat Lizzy Was Not Happy To Have Them There.I Know If I Was A Ghost I Would Not Want Anyone Turning My House Into A Fake Haunted House For Halloween.Also Want Makes Me Mad U Got House’s That Are Abandoned,And Kids Go In There To Party And Mess It UP.And U Got People Like Me That Want To Go To Place And House’s That Are Abandoned To Learn About The History And Take Pic’s But We Can Do To THe Kids That Messed It Up.Yea U Can Go If U Want To Get Fined And Have The Cops Come After U .

I have a cousin in Paterson, NJ who swears her house is haunted. No one else who went there heard anything;
she called me~The guy with the open mind~When my Dad
was there, thinks she needs psycho-evaluation. She
came to me for help, as she feels cold spots, hears footsteps in the kitchen & on the stairs…..so I’m asking ANYONE who reads this for advice. I want to go there with my camera, and maybe catch an ‘orb’ which we see in e-mails from my wife’s family who just lost a 46 yr. old brother & their dad in a 2 yr. period.

I can totally back up your story Kyle H! I definitely remember driving past w/ friends in the 80’s. We were a bit obsessed & drove there various times in one summer. That damn fence was in a DIFFERENT state of disrepair every single time! There was large red stains all over the road one night, but we had each other so freakin’ scared no one was crazy enough to get out to identify the substance. (knowing my friends, we would have locked that person out of the car just to mess with their head!)The next time we drove by the stain was gone.
