Lizzy’s House
Lizzy and her husband were a happy, and well-to-do couple many years ago, as the story goes. This all changed once Lizzy discovered that her husband was having an affair with their housekeeper. After being confronted about his infidelity, the husband decided that he did not wish to stay with Lizzy. He pushed her down the stairs, and she plummeted to her death. Hauntings include sounds of thumping on the stairs, lights flickering on and off, and loud screeches in the night. One night, a teenage boy was walking in front of the house, and a group of boys drove up to where he was. They jumped out and proceeded to beat him up, rob him, and eventually kill him. One of the boys looked up at the house and noticed a white, floating figure coming towards him. He called to his friends, and they left. The person that reported the murder to the police only identified herself as Lizzy.

I literally lived in the neighborhood down the street from this house. As kids we always rode our bikes over to the house and would walk around the property trying to find out if the stories were true. I think its sad that the house was turned into a haunted house… if there really is a spirt in there its being tortured more than it deserves by the crowds of people who are walked through there during the halloween season.

I grew up in the Ohio Valley hearing the stories of Lizzy and various other places not mentioned on this site. I have been by this house years ago and was saddened by the condition of the house which was once a home. I’m glad Lizzy is dead because the state of her house would have killed her!

This area needs to be investigated. I got the means. Who owns the property?

PLEASE NOTE: Lizzy’s house in NOT in Exeter, Luzerne Co. it IS in Exeter Township, Berks Co. It’s NOT near Pittston, PA…it IS in Birdsboro, PA. Also, it’s near the OLEY Valley, NOT Ohio Valley.
If anyone wants to know the current owners name, they can contact the Berks County Prothonotary for information on 1211 Lincoln Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
If your interested in this or other hauntings of Berks County, buy Charles Adams books. He won’t give you exact locations, but it’s a start.

Jannette says: I agree with Bella (09-18-06) about the two comments being from the same person, whom ever that is needs some honest friendship in their life, someone to talk to freely without the fear of being insulted and put down. If you can not relax on line and not worry about people putting you down then as race we are in bad shape. I could not read all the comments and for that I am sorry but I do not have that kind of time. As far as some place being haunted or not, everyone has a right to their own feeings and beliefs. Too many things have happened to me in my life time that no one has ever been able to explain in a normal way. If something can not be explained away as a normal situation then we have to classifiy it as a paranormal situation. No one actually knows what is really going on until it happens to them. I believe in God, Christ, the existance of spirits and the knowledge that if I see it than it actually happened. Everyone relax have fun and stay safe always.

My parents live right around this house and I have heard that it is haunted but never experienced it for myself. I know it was open for Halloween a couple years but had been closed for the longest time. I have always wanted to go inside to see for myself but now there are people who live on the property in a trailer behind the house. They don’t look like they’d be friendly, but more like a murderer from a movie. I’m not one to judge, but they are kind of grungy, mountain men looking.

Go there between 3 and 4 ( the time evil comes out to mock jesus, the “witching hour”). my buddy went there with some friends. while walking up the driveway there cameras completely went dead. so they dececided to leave and as they were leaving, my buddy turned around to look at the house and he saw a figure standing on top of the house with its head cocked to the side as if it looked like they were being hung. and a couple other people reported whatever haunts the place following them home and creating chaos in their house. not fake, real f*cked up stuff. more stories to tell about the place, not enough patience to type it all

This home is private property. When I was a teenager, my friend and I went inside and it was abandoned at that point, although it is on the edge of a tree farm called The Buddies Nursery. Donald Peiffer used to own the property, but he died about 4 years ago. When my friend and I went inside it was very run down and spooky looking. If anyone wants to see where it is, Id be willing to show them, email me at Buildmorefarms@mail.com
It would be fun to see the old place again.

this house is supposidly really haunted. ive lived in the area my whole life, my grandmom lives right down the street. lizzy was never murdered by her husband, she died an old woman sick. i dont know how or why anyone would start the rumor of her being murdered, but the story of her house is in ghost stories of berks county. it is a scary house, all the windows are boarded up, and have been for a long time. but thats because of people breaking them. there was alot of vandilization on the property. my grandmom knew lizzy, and said she was a polite, and respectable woman.
