Lynch House
During Quantrill’s Raid of the city, a young girl was raped and killed in the basement of this house. Today doors open and close and lights turn on and off. Some have even by slapped and tickled by unseen phantoms, while still others have seen ghosts walking through the hallways.

I lived in the Lynch house with various roommates for almost 2 years up until the current owners purchased the home. It was a rental property for several years and there were many tales among the downtown college crowd from people that either lived there or knew someone who did. I only had a couple of unusual experiences when I lived there, however my roommate reguarly heard footsteps on a boarded up stairway and a few times suddenly blurted out, “There’s someone in the room with us.” There was an afternoon that I was home alone and the buzzer type doorbell began to ring as if someone was just holding down the button. I figured it was maybe just an electrical short, however I started getting annoyed and said out loud for it to stop. This continued for about an hour and would cease everytime I would tell it to “Stop already!” One snowy night I actually called he police because I was so absolutely sure that there was someone walking around the rental office downstairs. No one there and no footprints in the snow. A mirror fell off a wall and broke when we were joking about the ghosts, scaring all of us at the time. When we were watching TV one day, a penny fell from the ceiling from nowhere. We never did figure that out. And there were a couple friends that refused to come into the house altogether without knowing the haunted reputation.
I never felt in danger or any bad presence in the house, but I do know that there is probably something there. I had a friend that did some research and told me that there was a teenage girl by the name of Margaret Acock that died from consumption in the home around the turn of the century. I believe the house was built in the 1890s which was well after Quantrill, so I’m not sure about the rape story, but if anyone has any other info on the home,I would be ver interested to hear it.

The address is 1711 Massachusetts St across the street from dirty Dillons. It is a private residence now and some counseling service is run out of it. I don’t know who the owners are.

That sounds really scary. I would hate to visit that house because I don’t like the fact that there are all of these sounds and there is nobody there.

I’m with Margaret.I’m trying to help my ghostly encounters at my house, down the street from KU MEd.I’ve asked my neighbors what happend to person before me and my roomate started to rent it out.I’ve yet to see the thing but damnit, i’ve seen objects move on numerous occasions and hear shitt all the time.My good faith unsures me nothings going to happen, but i’m still iffy about being there by myself because i’m extremely nocturnal.Weird thing is,i don’t really believe in that shitt.Even with hearing and seeing things move, i wont absolutely believe it, until i see it
