RESPONDING TO ina: how do yu know she fell, how does anyone know she fell, maybe she was pushed cause why would a little girl be in a house alone, there are alot of cases where kids’parents murder them so we really dont know and neither do you

I lived about 10 minutes away from there when that girl died and remember very well the article in the newspaper. (Gloucester County Times) She didn’t simply fall down the stairs, her grandfather pushed her. He “fell” down the same stairs two weeks later while in the process of being accused of her death. Her brothers stated that while alive, she used to walk out on the wide ledge around the house and knock on their bedroom window trying to scare them. They said after she died they often heard knocking on their window. By the way, her name was Elizabeth.

My neighbor gave my mother her late husbands garden gloves to use. My mother placed them on the stairs to the basement. A few days later when she was walking down the stairs she felt two hands on her shoulders “pushing her” down the stairs. She had to brace herself so she didn’t fall. She took those gloves and promptly returned them!

I use to know the people that lived in that house years ago. My father worked with the guy who owned it,this is all after that happened! They worked to gether at Struble and Moffit. I was in the house, and I went up and down the stairs and I could feel someone pushing slightly on my back. This is all before I knew the story. We were there for BBQ.But you could feel a cool feeling on the stairs. It was awesome. I heard that the story was on HBO too!

well well well, i dont understand what u all people talking abt.she was small girl so no unfinished business story applies here.
what i believe is that small children r much closer to god and they r true picture of god (free mind )
so i believe in god and i know what ever it is not right and v should stop making imaginations and free our mind too

god bless all

I WAS 14, AND THERE WAS A BOOK CALL GHOST STORIES OF New Jersey I’m 51 now and the story of Elizabeth was in it . A teacher was living in a victorian house on Main St in Glassboro N.J. She was haunting the staircase and knocking at his office window and bouncing a ball down the steps. He found remains in the house, and she was buried in the old cemetary with only the name Elizabeth. By the way this happened before my time.

She is burried next to my school. My old principal rented the house out when he was in college. He was asleep one night when suddenly a pillowcase was put over his face. When he tried to pull it off, he couldnt, His bed started spinning and no one was in the room. Also, there are reports that prople who rent out the house hear little children playing outside around 3 in the morning.

Jazzi says:

June 20, 2007, 2:30 pm

i think that this story/ legend is soooo sad. my friend gabbz told me alll about this story like a month ago and since then i’ve been sooo interested. I live in glassboro soo i’ve seen the house before. i feel extra srry for gabbz b/c she lives closer to the house than i do and shes home alone right now and shes sooo scared.i swear that she might pee her pants. But i dont believe in ghosts soo this story doesnt make much sense. if u ask me i’d say that peole are probalely just imagining it all or just tryin to get attention my making up all kinds of stupid stories. the only time that i might actually be afraid if that house would be on halloween. i’m not sayin that that girl didnt die in that house but the haunting story thing is just fake.

Jazzi says:

COMMENTING TO MARGRET: i have no idea what your comment has to do with the little girl in that house. your comment doesnt even have to do with this story at all. your mom is probaley some old lady thats senile and is losing her mind! and what does the pair of gloves have to do with anything? no disrespect but your comment was just stupid and pointless. fill free to comment me back margret

I lived in this house in 1985 with three fraternity brothers. This house is crazy! Every night the heat turned off, every night there were loud foot steps up and down the stairs, and incident when showers and radios just turned on and off. There was a crazy experience one night, when we went into the empty attic to drink (cause that’s what college kids do) and saw a little girl’s dress that was never there before. All of these experiences were incredible over the 4 months we lived there! At first we thought it was all just in our heads until a former tenant stopped by and started describing the same exact things. I never believed in this stuff until we actually experienced it! We actually started having fun with the experiences because we had no choice. We named the ghost Wally, (not knowing it was a girl) and named the house Wally’s world. There is now a documented story of a UPS guy that delivered a package to the house. After a complaint that the package never got there, it was investigated and the ups driver said the daughter signed for it. The people living there never had a daughter and the only legible part on the ups receipt appeared to be a signature with a first name Elizabeth. Pretty crazy! But those of us that were there during those months know that this stuff really happened!

I lived in this house…I heard about Elizabeth and everything…I didnt believe in ghosts then, but now i do…

Ok..So I just moved here, ignoring rumors. I lived there for about a 4 months when this happened. I had all funirture in, know where everything is, when I heard footsteps going up the stairs, then down. I thought it was my husband playing a joke so I looked out the window(to make sure) and his car wasnt there. So I just heard the footsteps touch the bottom when I was at the top. I was scared. I ran back to my room and called the police. They came and checked the house. This one policeman was talking to me at the top of the steps when he fell down them. Luckily, just his back was sore, and he got up. He said he felt a push. That’s when I decided tp leave..

My husband and I lived in this house with our two daughters at 317 N. Main St. between 1982 and 2000. Most of your posters here have the story right, a couple of you just want to see your name online. You didn’t live there when you claimed to have.

The house was being remodeled when we bought it and we did considerable work to it. Throughout the process it was evident something strange was going on but we didn’t know the story yet so didn’t relate it. I was painting in an upstairs bedroom and heard someone running up and down the steps only a few feet away. I turned the corner when the sound was loudest thinking our girls were playing on the steps. The steps were empty, the girls were fast asleep downstairs. Another time, my husband saw a figure of a female dressed in 1800s clothing sitting at the bottom of the stairs. After the remodeling was finished, things quieted down. We could hear boxes moving around the attic from time to time but no more sitings.

Bert Gonzalez says:

January 27, 2008, 2:10 pm

Hello to all. My name is Bert and I lived in this home briefly with relatives a few years ago. I couldn’t stay there long. Every time I would even go near the stairs, I would get sick. While going down the stairs on several occasions I fell. I was so freaked out by the occurences that I had to ask what happened in that house. Noone ever told me, I later found out in an article I read. I now understand the scratching on my window, the tripping down the stairs over something that wasn’t there, and the over all eerie feeling in the house. My relatives moved out soon after I left and my uncle asked to never speak to him of the house again. Now everything is clearer. Between the reading of the article I found and a few websites that have confirmed this story, I am a firm believer.

All I can say is I lived there from birth till I was 5 when my mother and I moved and she sold the place. This place is truly haunted I can remember dreams I had when I was young about falling down those same stairs. And it is totally possible to die from falling down those satirs the stairs were steep and at the end was a narrow hallway at the bottom. Anyways for people wjo do not believe you need to experience to understand. Thank you.

I run a paranormal research group out of south jersey. I also work in Gloucester County. I am going to attempt to go to this address and locate the owner. I am hope to run a full investigation throughout the house, and just for the sake of shutting some mouths on this page will post my findings. Go to myspace.com/njparanormal and keep an eye out for the full results/evidence to be posted. Also feel free to leave any relevant info regarding this house or any other you believe to be haunted. I will do any house/business, Free of charge provided I have the permission of the home/business owner.

I know this house very well and I know the story of Elizabeth…it is all true she and her grandfathe both passed in the house, the steps are very steep the floor is not even concrete it is all old sand and flagstone. It is really sad about what happened but the houe truly is haunted, at night you can hear the thumping from someone going down the basement steps as well as knocking on the windows and child singing around 3 am.

Ok so exactly how many of you have lived in this house? I read all of the comments and it seems about 20 of you have, is that possible? I live near Gboro and never heard of this story, but who’s to say it isn’t true. I think most of you are full of it, especially if this happened decades/centuries ago..some of you who claim to have remembered this or knew the family probably weren’t even alive. It’s easy to pretend to know about a haunted story because there’s never any proof.

Michelle says:

I grew up in Glassboro and heard about Elizabeth quite often. She lived with her grandparents who resented her quite a bit (obviously). I am not sure if it was the grandmother of grandfather who did push her PURPOSLY down the stairs (which is a regular house Staircase). There are some violent things that happened while the principle (he was my principle at Thomas E Bowe School) There was an incident when I believe his or one of his roomates guitar was smashed to bits. I don’t think that it is just the little girl that is still there I believe the grandfather or grandmother is there as welland that those violent things were that one. I believe the girl is the child heard by many playing in the yard and knocking on the windows and walking the stairs but I don’t believe she is the one pushing….????I always felt that there was much more to this story than we know and that the poor little girl just wants to understand why they were so mean to her and till that day she will probably stay.
