Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Mary’s House

San Jose, California

This house, is haunted by two apparitions–Mary and her son. Sometimes Mary has been reported to be very nice; she teaches children nursery rhymes and reads them bed time stories. Other times, however, Mary is said to be very evil; she has set the house on fire at least four times. Once, she ripped a cat from a little girl’s arms and threw it down the hallway. Also in this house is one room that is freezing cold all the time. There have been reports of doors opening and closing by themselves, objects moving around, and television and radio stations changing alone.

Alot of the old houses in San Jose are reported to be haunted. I grew up there. We lived in an old Victorian style house on North Fifth Street most of my childhood. I also lived for a short time in the Alum Rock area.

What’s sad is now my old childhood home has been turned into college dorms now. There were several incidents that happened when I was about 13 or 14. One was (I remeber it clearly because I had to clean it up!) I came home from school one day and found the entire contents of the fridge had been spilled all over the kitchen floor. Including a huge jar of honey. Thing is, we were poor, and couldn’t afford honey. My father assumed one of us kids did it, but to this DAY none of us know who did this, we wouldn’t have because we knew we’d have to clean it up! And back in the late 60’s, we didn’t have all the cool cleaning products we have now.

There are a lot of haunted house stories running around San Jose, just by virtue of there being so many old houses.

The toys r us is on El Camino and Sunnyvale-Saratoga road and the last known Chuck E Cheese on Tully and 101 is haunted to…..But if you really want to feel some freaky stuff my apt in San leandro is very weird stuff that you just had in your hand suddenly shows up missing and reappears days later in places you’ve looked thru 10 times before….We’ve laid down coats by the door to run back and get something only to find our coats have been hung up again in the closet in the back of the apt our T.V remote has suddenly gone missing and shown up in the bathroom hours later and our friend has actually had someone talk to him while he’s half asleep and when he jumps up to see who’s there he’s seen a 3 foot tall black shadow running away from him to the back room and slamming the closet doors and our cats stare at the walls and suddenly chase things that aren’t there

Hey. I live in San Jose and I was just wondering if anyone had heard of Marsh Road? It’s in Milpitas. I know its somewhere in the hills. I went there this year. But it was dark so I can’t give too much direction. I heard that a girl was killed, maybe raped, and her body was put under a bridge and a kid from Piedmont Hills, I think, was showing kids the body for money. Damn, it was creepy as hell being right there next to the bridge looking at where her body was. They made a film on it. Somthing like Milpitas Monster. Anyone know?

Funny that I ran across this site today. I was actually bored last night and a couple of friends and I went to this haunted road called “Hicks Road”.. nothing special, just a very creepy road filled with albinos and supposedly a huge stone with a door on it. The doorway to “Hell”. Anyway, we ended up at Mary’s house and didn’t see anything weird, except it looks like the house is maintained well from the outside, but the paint job is horrible as if they did it in a hurry in a days work to cover something up. You can still see burn marks on the side of the fence facing Senter Road. Also, the black gate around the house has no there to enter except one in front of the driveway which seems to be stuck. I can’t recall the address, but its 53xx something, its right on the corner of Senter road and Hellyer Ave. Next to a bus stop and across from a church i believe, its a really nice house with a black gate and some huge red rocks on front of the house. Hope this information helps

There was a woman when I was growing up in Santa Clara that everyone called “Crazy Mary.” She used to walk around the streets with a little dog and yell at the top of her lungs cussing and shaking her fist at people and chasing cars. The rumored story that went around is that she was pulled into a car when she was a teenager and that a bunch of guys did bad things to her.

P.S. Yes, I remember the “Marsh Road” story being reported in the SJ Mercury and on the news from when it happened – it’s a true one. Happened sometime back in the late ’70s or ’80s, I think.

I pass by Mary’s House lots of times and I have to say I can’t help but feel a sense of haunted-ness. But at the same time the house looks PERFECT. The lawn is kept up with, the lawn boulders looked perfectly aligned, windows no smudges, and driveway no oil spills or spots. I know the house has been off the market many many years, but its still in such a mint condition. Another weird thing is I grew up not so far from the neighborhood and heard that a pregnant Asian woman had hung herself in there due to the fact she ain’t wanting to keep the baby (peace be upon them). This was what I was told by many people that knew her supposibbly. Now everytime I drive on Senter Road I can’t help but say a prayer or two for the spirits in that house.

OK PEOPLE LET ME TELL YOU THAT I LIVE NEAR THIS HOUSE AND I REALLY THINK THIS HOUSE IS HUNTED… LET ME TELL YOU WHY… EVERY TIME I GO TO CHURCH I HAVE TO PASS THROUGHT THIS HOUSE, AND IT’S DARK BY THE TIME I GO TO CHURCH. AT THAT TIME ALL THE LIGHTS OF THIS HOUSE ARE OFF, AND WHEN I COME BACK HOME ONE OF THE LIGHTS OF THIS HUNTED HOUSE IS ONE. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS, ONLY SOMETIMES I SEE THIS LIGHT ON. I THINK THAT THIS IS THE ROOM THAT’S ALWAYS FREEZING COLD, AND THIS ROOM IS FACING SENTER ROAD. MY SISTER HAS HEARD THE HOUSE ALARM ON LIKE TWO OR THREE TIMES NOW. SO WHO CAN BE PAYING FOR A HOUSE ALARM IF NOBODY LIVES THERE..???? LAST WEEK MY MOM WAS COMMING HOME AND SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE SAW THE LIGHT OF THE GARAGE ON… WHO CAN BE TURNING THE LIGHTS ON IF NOBODY LIVES THERE..???? FREAKY HUH…??????

My (asian) wife keeps telling me that from her network that they all really believe that there is something “wrong” or “evil” or haunted about this place.

I’ve driven by a few times – in the day time – and don’t see anything unusual.

And of course, I’m a plain old white guy, and don’t believe in ghosts.

So soon I’m going to camp out there for a weekend and prove to her that this is all bull-****!

I heard these stories from third party. The house on
hellyer has a really active haunt. People write to
your tv network. They might conduct an investigation
and air it on tv.

This house was rented more than once. The tenant would have their clothes thrown out the door. At night
when they go to sleep, they would find themselve in the garage in the Morning.

This house is well known in the community. scaryyyyyystufffff……

Hey guys let me tell you something. I, have never heard of this mary story untill now, but let me tell hauntings do exist. What’s really wierd about it is hauntings only happen to certain people. My family and I are some of those people. Ever since I was a young girl I’ve had to deal with these hauntings or demons what ever they may be. Just three nights ago I was being harrassed by one of these enities. Every time I tried to sleep I, would hear a loud bang or stomp on the floor, and every time I, would search the house to find every-one asleep in the same positions. I know that these things grow strength from fear, so I try to maintain my cool. The last draw that night was I closed my bedroom door only to have it swong open and see a dark shadow run by. So believe me there are hauntings and I live in San Jose’s Berryessa area.
