Mental Institution for Children
This site, which now lies deep in the woods, was once a mental institution for many “crazy” children in the 1930s. There is also a hospital associated with the abandoned cabins that lies 10 miles away. The children, who were violent or depressed, were sent here for treatment. Children who misbehaved were strapped to the beds with belts and beaten until they were unconscious. Many the children were killed and due to this cruelty, the facility was closed and the gate around the hospital’s perimeter was chained closed. Many have seen not only lights in the windows, but shadows of children as well.

Hey guys my name is rebekah and i live in alta ca about 16 miles from where this is okay so heres the scoop ive been there a couple times although ive never seen and ghost i have been freaked out at the silence and the freaky cabins…it is located in applegate on Our Old Lady of the Oaks” road…there is a tennis club tthat is in front of the cabins…there is a “lake” more like a big pond that they are right next too. there is the hospital there and there are cabins right next to it…no they are not 10 miles away but i havent been 10 miles from the old hospital…there are about 3or 4 cabins that you can look into and there is one raod in and one out you have to sneak by the tennis club and the person who has to deal with all the kids trying to see this place…it is fun and scary to go because you work yourself up.it is history with a bad vibe!

hi all this does sound scary but a little overrated, i think if u look back on what people say it is all about the same story but these storys have been twisted the truth of what really happened is out there in that place and in the souls of those poor children, if you really want to know the truth if you believe it and you are as brave as you say then why not take the ouija board there? that would take some guts of steel if you believe this really?

I would like to address the whole Ouija Board thing…
These are not toys. They are not meant to be used by just anyone. And you could do alot of bad **** with one.
Now I would like to address the whole thing about the truth of this case…
It seems to me people who post comments aren’t doing their homework. Back in the early days of Sanatriums (SP) there was alot of bad stuff going on. Not to mention most people who put their “loved ones” there didn’t even want people knowing they had people like that in their family. So why would they say anything if a few of them turned up dead?
So please do not accuse the posted of the case of not doing their research when I see alot of unresearched facts posted in the comments.
And if you feel a need to debunk the cases here then why bother even reading them.

Update:
As creep ( and yes sad) as this story is, it is also a complete fabrication. The ’sanitorium’ and surrounding cabins are actually part of a Jesuit retreat in Applegate CA. The main building was built in the first decade of the 20th century for the Providence of the Society for Jesus with the surrounding cabins built several years later. At no time in its 100 year history was it a children’s asylum. In fact, the Jesuit community has recently started the process of rebuilding the estate for both personal and public use. By the way, the full name of the buildings is Our Lady of the Oaks Villa.

It’s not snobbish to say what I’m about to say. It’s nothing anyone should have any cause to get upset about. And you’re not proving anything by getting angry and doing the opposite. Please. People, please. For the love of Jehovah, please. Retards. Re-read what you’ve just written in this three by five inch box before posting. Once that’s done–and should it prove necessary–make corrections! I know grammar is boring. I know spelling is sometimes confusing. Nevertheless, it’s something that must be dealt with. You’re excused, of course, if English is a (i.e. your) second language. The rest of you numbnuts, though, are on my list. You will be killed and turned into ghosts to haunt libraries for ever and ever and ever more.
