Real Haunted House

Mental Institution for Children

Meadow Vista, California

This site, which now lies deep in the woods, was once a mental institution for many “crazy” children in the 1930s. There is also a hospital associated with the abandoned cabins that lies 10 miles away. The children, who were violent or depressed, were sent here for treatment. Children who misbehaved were strapped to the beds with belts and beaten until they were unconscious. Many the children were killed and due to this cruelty, the facility was closed and the gate around the hospital’s perimeter was chained closed. Many have seen not only lights in the windows, but shadows of children as well.

I was at a friends house one time, you know the whole spending the night thing back in high school. Well anyways she lived in an old house that used to be an army hospital. So to get to the point we lit a candle and you know what they say about the flame on the candle, right. Well if not they say if a spirit is near then the flame on the candle will shoot up about two inches or three. Well the candle did just that and then it went right back down. It was really creepy, but after that happened we decided to go to bed. All throughout the night I kept hearing strange noises that you usually don’t hear in a normal house. There were drawers slamming open and shut, screaming, and you could hear metal banging together. The next morning I got woke up with something or someone pushing on my back. I turned around and no one was there, thats when I looked over at my friend and she was still sleeping, so I figured it couldn’t have been her. Well that is my story about what I have experienced. You can write to me and tell me what you think about what I have told you at Ch.arlyne21@hotmail.com
Thanks for listening/reading.

Well, first off why would you want to go to a place with so much great depression, violence, and massacred little boys and girls. I will tell you all something my Great Grandmother worked there as one of the head nurses. When kids were blind or whatever, the head nurse Dr. Flink, he thought if he shoved ice picks in their eyes it would eventually help them regain there sight. Well After about 1 week or so they would die. My grandmother tells me stories all the time. The adress is 5776 Ellenburk Drive. I’m literally begging you not to visit, I have a scar on my back from when I got to encounter with a young girl, she said her name was Elonora..Creepy..

Kandy is my big sister I’m 15 shes 17, what she is saying is all true.
It all started on halloween night. 12:43 P.M..I got dared to stay the night there by Kandy, well knowing me if you dare me to do somethimg I will. When I arrieved nothing happend for about 35 minutes, as soon as i got to the 2nd floor I started feeling uneasy. I couldn’t believe my eyes but I saw a little girl about 7 or 8 years of age maybe. She was wearing a pale pink silky dress saying ” Torie, please help me, free me, I know you, you’re grandmother was Marie, she was awful, she helped trying to dig my eyes out”..Now she was ragging and screaming to the top of her lungs at me “let me out of here you bit**!!!!”.. Then she looked at me and
I felt a great depression…She died of lukimia? I think it’s cancer lol. But I live a few miles away from there. That is a place I will never go agian.

Alright team, here’s the deal. I was there last night.

In Applegate, CA you need to turn onto boole rd. and follow it a ways. There will be a sign for Our Lady of the Oaks Catholic Retreat. Go in. At the end of that road there is a division. Left is the parking lot and cabins for the retreat, and straight leads to the plaque of the Esoteric Fraternity(Esoteric Publishing Company). This plaque is between two gates. This is where you will begin to feel things if you ever do. The right gate has cameras and such so do not linger there and make sure your car is at the retreat center lot. Go over the left gate and continue walking. Caution is a good idea. This is where we had our first encounter. A six or seven year old girl in a dingy hospital gown. Some of us saw her, others just saw a spot that radiated energy. The brick building is back there too. I will not tell stories of the stuff that happened there. However, I do know that this is a private road owned by an eighty year old man who is not afraid to shoot. Last but not least, this man is eighty years old. This was a hospital that closed about seventy five years ago. There are few reasons a person would choose to live somewhere haunted. My company Disappearing, Inc. is trying to gain information about this man. We want to know if he is a possible survivor of the hospital or maybe a family member passed there.

Kim how old are you ? you clearly have no idea about the earlier methods of treating what was thought to be a mentel illness…. Because of the lack of understanding and research into such illnesses many people suffered terribly, sometimes inflicting more damage to the person making them worse then they were before, sometimes even killing them. These places were terrible places to be in because of the treatment administered. Today we know more about it and use medication to control some of the symptoms. Parents of that day also thought that a difficult child was either mental or possessed and would send them away to such places making the child feel rejected and unwanted so it’s no wounder a place like this would have a bad vibe/spooky/uneasy energy to it because it’s an imprint of what once was …….

I’ve lived in Meadow Vista for seven years and there is nothing like this here. There is an old childrens mental institution in applegate across from the nuns retreat. There is a fenced around it with barbed wire and it isn’t that scary. I’ve also heard that there are acouple old whore houses in applegate that are really scary.

The first mental institution in the western part of the us, was in stockton, california in the early 1800s, it is now the university of stanislaus, It is said to be haunted and I myself have seen aparritions there of a woman in a long skirt a few times coming of out of the mansion. Its a huge piece of land and many buildings. In the center is a huge mansion where the main nurse would stay. I would see a woman coming out of that mansion down the walkway a few times or her standing by the huge trees and in a second she would be gone. But anyways by the late 1800s the institution got reviewed for the harsh punishment and torture they were inflicting on their patients and it was banned and almost shut down. So they agreed to have a head nurse there and she stayed in the mansion. In 2009 they were building ponds for the university and as they were digging they found 40 unmarked graves, just bodies of patients put there and forgotten. So the school put a few memorials for them but as to who were the patients, no one knows and theyre left as anonymous. When they found they bodies they immediately stopped digging anymore and just moved the bodies they found and on the property they have the directors houses who own the land because of their family who owned the institution they ordered the digging to stop so no more bodies can be found, the news reporters came and the directors tried to cover everything up, even psychics and the paranormal team tried coming. They found letters from a man who was patient there and he described the torture he went through and how he ended up there. He wrote that his sister died due to being drowned bu her significant other and he went looking for her body everyday at the delta and this other man asked him what his doing, and I believe he was an officer and the man replied he was looking for his sisters body, so the officer thinks hes crazy and he gets put in there, but he described how miserable it was and the torture and beating they received and patients dying and the cruelty. But for the childrens mental hospital to have them being beaten in the 1930s??!! That has to be false unless the time is incorrect and it happened decades earlier. Theres also one two blocks from the university of stanislaus.

Also in the bathroom, I would whispers of someone talking to someone when I was the only one in the bathroom and the water faucet would turn on by itself a few times and other weird noises in the bathrooms and in the halls. Its really creepy and most definitely haunted!! Its the first mental institution ever been built in the western part of the US. U guys should check it out. They rent the head nurses mansion for weddings and parties, too.i
