Real Haunted House

Metz Elementary School

Austin, Texas

When this school was demolished in 1990 there were numerous reports of strange occurrences. It is said the bulldozers would stop working just as they reached the century old building. Constantly, workers fell from ladders and tools disappeared. Workers also began reporting children’s writings on the blackboards and ghosts in the restrooms. Things got so bad that an exorcism was performed. Shortly afterwards, a wall inexplicably fell and killed a worker. Today there are still reports of restless child-ghosts at the site.

This story is very true. It was my grandfather who died there while attempting demolish the school when the brick wall collapsed and crushed him. His name was Otto Gutierrez and the accident happened not to long ago around 1991-93. We still have the original newspaper article and pictures of him. We even sued the media for making false statements in a film they made about the accident. The school is still there in East Austin and is still a public school. Find me on facebook for more info or details Oscar pena

I was reading this book called “Haunted Schools:Ghost Stories and Strange Tales”and this story about METZ Elementary was in it and at first I thought all the stories in the book were fake so we looked it up and I can’t believe that it’s actually real. I live close to Austin and i would love to visit METZ Elementary maybe i’ll even hear or see something.

I went to school at Metz as a child in the original building. One day I asked my teacher to go to the restroom suing class. I was looking into the mirror and behind me towards the door way a boy my age was standing their. He was wearing a brown hat and blue clothing. He smiled and turned and disappeared. I would always hear laughing in the halls when I graduated from Metz I felt a sorrow from my leaving. I often think of them.

When was the original Metz school built? The one before when it was demolished in 1990? And, I’m curious, Why exactly would this school be haunted, how many kids actually died there?

The school was real and so were the hauntings. My uncle was a janitor there and would work the late shift when somebody called in sick and I would go with him. I was 8 or 9 at the time and would here kids running around, talking in the classrooms or writing on the chalkboards. And everytime I would hear something I tried to run to see where it was coming from but never found anything. Bear in mind this was after school hours, between 8 and 10pm. I hear that even now you can hear kids playing on the tree the planted there in place of the demolished school.

I went there in kindergarten in the old Building to third grade I think .I remember we had to go to Webb Middle school while the new one was getting built .I never heard of a fire in the 30′s .This obviously was long before I was Born cause I am 28 and a 80′s Baby .But maybe this is why it is Haunted ? I am very intrested in Reaserching this claim…
