Mexican Ghost
A ghost of a man who fought and died in the Mexican War is supposedly seen here at times. There have been articles about the ghost in Reader’s Digest and the local newspaper.

well two things happened when my friend and i visited camp lulu. My friend got down of her car and walked through the gate, she told me that while she was in there she felt someone brush against her then she heard a scream coming from the cabins she ran quickly as possible to the car. As we drove away we locked the doors and rolled up all the windows even though it was a really hot night. As we tried to drive away as quickly as possible, the doors started to unlock by themselves. everytime we locked the doors they would unlock and real cold air came in through the vents of the car. since the car is real old the air conditioner doesnt work we couldnt explain what was happening. As we left the neighborhood we couldnt feel the cold air as much and the doors stopped unlocking themselves. if anyone plans to visit the camp be very careful.

I use to live behind the camp. There was this dirt road that led you from the little neighborhood we lived in to the back of this camp. I went to this camp with a group of friends the only thing I saw that my friends did not see.Was a thin white light it was floating in the middle of the road right before we got the gates. But at the time i went we didnt see no big black gates (back in 99-00′)it was the kind of gates you put for a ranch. Anybody could actually get down. We did but nothing happened. I guess this place has really gotten pretty bad, my lil brother tells me that the back roads we used to drive are locked down as well as the front. But from what i have read from you guys its pretty tripped out. If anyone goes d=be prepared to run and girls please seriously dont go in heels like going to a club. anything is possible and you have to be ready to run…..

I went to Camp Lulu just now. When I was driving out there on Stillman Road, my windows fogged up and I could not see anything. The air was not even that humid today. I had to stop so many times and wait while I turned the heater on to unfog them. It was scary, but I have never been more scared than the time my friends and I went to some place in Olmito. Anyways, if you are driving th eexpressway out of Brownsville, you get off at the Olmito exit and then turn left. You follow that road until you get to the Rancho Viejo entrance. It is across that entrance. We parked our car and kept walking beyond the wooded area, and there was an old battle site. There is a marker there and we kept walking until it turned into this open field. At first I was actually fascinated because I never knew that place had existed, but we started to walk by this big ditch and it smelled so bad. It smelled like something was rotting and my friend said that that was probably where they would burn the dead bodies. I do not know if that just made me paranoid, but after that I kept hearing sticks crack around us and feeling a breeze as if people were running by us. I could hear voices and some sort of flapping, like a flag maybe. A really cool breeze started to blow even though it was really humid and hot that night. That was when we started to run to our car; I do not think I have ever ran that fast in my life, my adrenaline was pumping like crazy.

1825 W Madison St, Brownsville, Tx. I grew up there and still have nightmares. Something would run down the stairs and slam the back door every other day. Oddly enough we sort of got used to it. Then we moved in 96 when the ghost started to act hostile. Ask anyone about whos been in that house, they will tell you.

If Camp Lulu is haunted, as most comments state, why is there a UTB professor arranging test to be administered in his house “Camp Lulu”?

Yeah Right… I used to live there at Casa De Colores by Sabal Palms. For the millionth time… ITS NOT HAUNTED… I would stay there alone for nights and nothing ever happened. My entire family are Native American and we all lived there. The images that people claim to see are bogus. If anything, the grounds there are sacred due to that many Native ceremonies happened there. The lady that lives there have taken care of those lands for many years. They live there and please respect their privacy.

I was 10yrs old and in Girls Scouts when i went camping at Camp Lulu, well it was actually called Camp Lulu Sams. I’m 30yrs old now and can actually remember the fun we had there. Meeting other girls scouts, sleeping in those cabins and the gatherings we all had. We stayed there for a weekend and can honestly say that it was not haunted then. When was this place closed down? and when do they say that these murders happened? Why wasn’t it ever on the news about all these murders?

i went to cam lulu last nite and saw nothing … it was a perfect nite because it was hot and cold and foggy perfect for a horror movie … as we drove closer to the big black gates the fog got even thicker but other than that i saw nothing … as we stood infront of the gates my friend claims he saw a man standing to his left (just a black figure) again i saw nothing … its a cool place to go visit, just hard to get through the gates as there is a camera pointing straight at the gates (city property) but fun for a scare

I went to camp lulu when i was in middle school for field day…..two friends of mine and I managed to sneak into the house through a small lil window on the bottom of a wooden door that lead to the stairways….It was pretty big and dirty from inside. it had a huge guest(living room) room with a fire place, 2yellow tile restrooms down the hall across from each other…then up the stairways were 3 big rooms some steps were missing so we had to be very careful. the 1st room to our right was empty with only one full size bed that had been burned from the middle as well as the wooden floor, then down the hall up 3 steps was a smaller room that had a sign on the door of a lady’s name and that room had a door to the attic, which I opened and found an old desk with a small bible and a name of a nun…..the other room was to your left with a couple of steps down which looked like a small class room with small desks and a huge ch.borad……nothing really scary in side the house…but it did have 3 extra rooms on the side of the house with bunkbeds and they were those huge bags that the military carry the stuff in, on some of the beds but the rooms messdoors were locked with key locks…..I still remember it clearly till this day and that was 10 yrs ago..and I did notice the wooden cross infront of the house…Camp Lulu is just an old house with history in it.

if yall wanna stop messing around, go down southmost till you the road ends. in the distance to the right youll see an old slave owners house thats been condemned for a long time now. Its called casa de colores. there arent any power lines out there whatsoever. its about 50 yards from the river. before border patrol got so tight (about 10 years ago ) we went out there to smoke…you know. before we even started, we heard a loud scream from inside and one of the windows started opening and shutiing slamming hard. naturally we all were scared out of our minds.when we made it onto the road again, we stopped and looked back and the door, wich you can see from the road, was gone. not open…gone, and you could light turning on and off. like a light switch. it was first and last time i went out there. wont ever go back.

also…check out casablanca 2000. its on price. its a club thats been there since the 50’s. ive heard older people swear on their life that they were there on the night a young was dancing with the devil himself. supposedly, he was dressed in white, very attractive and alone. the girl and he were dancing in the middle of the club when people started backing away because they noticed the man had no feet. (this is a very specific detail, every account of the event ive ever heard agreed with the following) he had no feet, they were in the middle of the club, and when everyone, including the band, stopped what they were doing to see that he had no feet, he just disappeared. and im not talking about cartoony or movie special effects. they all say he just disappeared. as soon as he did though, the girl collapse and was dead on the scene. never in my lofe will i ever set foor in that building.

What is it with camp lulu? I have heard stories about the place, but I cant find any history about it. So is it real or not? And if it is why is it so hard to find?
