I grew up in Wilmington until the age of 8. I knew “Minna Buckets” ( as well as I could pronounce it as a child) well. He was a friend of my father’s. We would go fossil hunting on the hills of the strip mines in Braidwood. I remember his kindness, laughter, caring. I can’t believe that these tales of him being a dark presence are true. This man saved my life. One day as we were climbing up one of the high strip mine hills to look for his beloved fossils, the soft and sandy earth gave way under my feet. I started to slide and fall. I would have rolled and fallen dozens of feet down to the bottom had he not grabbed me by the back of my shirt. My family was grateful beyond means. Minnow thought nothing of it. My brothers and I always had pocket fulls of candy, and a few fossils, usually of ferns or other plants, from Minnow. He may have been violently taken from this earth. But I know in my heart he would go straight to Heaven, and watch his river from on High. That obit above is flawed.

ty u for posting his obit…it tells peeps how and what type of person he really was… i have lived Wilmington Illinios all my live ,and never ran into his ghost,and never except too,but thanks again…and too the idiots …all the yellow hammers left back in the late 60 and 70 …GROW UP…

there was actually a bait shop in wilmington right by the park and the river. it was called the “minnow bucket” it did close about two years ago and was reopened as a pizza resturant about 6 months after. the pizza sucked.

Idt this is true. i’ve lived in wilmington on the weekends since i was born. and i’ve walked the river bank at dark….. plus i’ve never heard this story. it totally isnt true unles u have evidence.

i had another minnow bucket sighting the other day. i was walking along the bank of the river with my five young lovers. he said “ey boi, get o’er he-a” i kept walking but my lovers went over there and got raped to death. beware minnow bucket.
