Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Mooney’s Mansion

Columbus, Ohio

During the 1950s, a couple lived in this mansion until the husband axed his wife to death and buried her in the woods surrounding the house. The statue of the woman that the husband had erected as a wedding gift when the two first married now appears to bleed–due to the ax wounds. The husband’s ghost is said to inhabit the upstairs bedroom in which the murder took place.

No you can not go into the house, people live there now. I have been there several times, with different people. Here are a few stories of what i have heard and some experiences of mine. One thing I read on the internet was when you go down the road go up to 25 mph and take your foot off the gas. You will start to slowly speed up, even as you go up hills and then as you approach the end of the road it stops speeding up. I tried this and it went up to 40 mph which is strange because of it going faster while on hills.
Another story is me and two other friends went to the house. We stood behind the house for a few mintues then all of the sudden just had a bad feeling and decided to leave. We went back to my friends house and all of the sudden a mickey mouse toy started growling in a deep voice, “go back to the house” it kept repeating this, it wasnt even on either. By this point i have been to the house several times. I I dont go there too often anymore. After that night with what the toy was saying I started getting flashes of him killing his family, you might think its crazy but its true, anytime i go there now i feel threatend for being there.

Well I just recently went down to Walhalla, been wanting to since I was 12 or so, and me and my friends were on campus one night so we finally decided to try and find it. We had a little bit of difficulty, that road is so weird the way its laid out, we asked a couple people that lived on the next street over and even THEY didn’t know much about it. It’s a creepy little street, really narrow, really dark, with nothing but these eerie orange street lights giving off a little glow. We went down the street once, nothing happened, literally nothing, we couldn’t find the house, pretty much everything past the street lights was impossible to see. We decided to go down a second time, this time, we saw a man walking with a pair of weird scissors, and up the road just a little bit right near the bridge was a man and a woman, and they just stopped and turned and gave us the most bone chilling cold look ever, they were so pale, it really did make me start shaking. I wouldn’t have thought it was as weird if I could have figured out how they got there and why they would be walking down that creepy little street at midnight or 1 o clock. The nearest side road wasn’t for a block or two up the road, and we would have seen them on our first trip. THEN we went back a third time, they were completely gone, in a matter of what, 2 minutes? The only thing I saw that time around was a creepy all white cat with its eyes glowing sitting in the little creek bed, I’ve seen it during the trips we’ve taken up there since, and its always in the same exact place, right next to the bridge. I think I have found Mooney’s Mansion, you really have to go during the day to be able to see it. Its a really pretty house, nothing out of the ordinary about it, and I didn’t feel like getting the cops called on me so I didn’t want to trespass and go exploring. But I do think that area in general has a lot of history and a lot of paranormal activity.

Ive been down to walahalla several times. Everytime at night. Ive heard many stories about this place but the main one that sticks out is About the man who killed his wife and children and hung himself over the bridge at the base of his house over walahalla. Ive also heard that the light in the attic can be seen at night. Im usally a skeptic about these things but an incident one night made me reconsider…. Me and 5 other friends started walking down walahalla from indianola. My friend heather is a stickler for ghost so she brought her video camera to document our walk. We walked all the way down to mooneys mansion only to find the attic light was indeed on but this could have been done by the residents there now just to scare the kids away so no big deal right? after we passed the house we came up to the bridge. nothing really exciting there but we did find clothes and other items under the bridge that may have been a homeless persons’. After we were done we left laughing, thinking it was fun but we didnt encounter anything that the legend depicted. This is were things get really weird…. We went back to one of my friends house to watch what we recorded to see if we could see anything. And we did. during my friends filming she was just looking around at the other houses and as we watched we saw some kind of figure that appeard to be swinging (as if it were hanging) from the back porch of another house by the bridge. (not mooneys mansion) this scared the hell out of us and gave us all chills. we watched this part over and over again. everytime seeing the same thing but my friend never saw this at the time she was recording. I still dont know what this was or if it was a trick of the light but the image is spooky none the less. My friend still has the tape from that night and we haven’t been back since that night…..

I have always heard stories of mooneys mansion whether it is true or not it is always fun to take friends and my children driving down Walhalla Dr.One thing I have heard and found to be true is that if you put your car in neutral when you pull on to Walhalla from Indianola it will coast all the way to high street slowing down in front of the house and under the bridge only to speed up again and stop at High St.

Ive been to walhalla several times and I have even touched the statue on the porch…I never saw anything out of the ordinary but I will tell you that i was so scared that when I turned around to run back down the hill to our car I felt a ridiculous cumpulsion to run REALLY fast and instead of running down the hill I tripped and rolled down the hill and when I got back to my friends car we couldnt get it to start! So aside from being embarrassed…it really will scare the **** out of you..haunted…or not…

I love to read stuff like this on the Mooney`s Mansion. But the werd thing about that is that i live 10 minites away from the Mansion. And one night me and my friends are going to go up the house and look at it!

Walhalla Road exists. I travel it often, and show it to people who have never seen it as a curiosity only.

It’s a strange road, seemingly out of place in the middle of the capital city. The road itself is not long, and looks like it belongs out in the countryside. But it is NOT haunted. Creepy, yes, but NOT haunted.

Bored frat boys and thrill seeking teenagers have made a strange looking road into a “haunting,” causing nothing but irritation for homeowners on the road. I’m all for investigating LEGIT hauntings, but do your freaking homework before you go traipsing all over someone’s private property in the middle of the night, disturbing the residents. Remember when the cheerleader was shot? There are sometimes crazy people living in the houses you’re investigating, why make yourself a target?

you guys are all stupid, you got the story all wrong
well it started off as the husband went to the room and saw his wife with an other guy. that when he went berserk with the axe kill the wife and then he hung his kid at the bridge near their house. they day that the daughter who was hang was holding a teddy and when she was hanged her teddy bear fell. that how the the people find them hanged. there were also story about 2 gargoyle or something at the entrance of the house that whisper blood if you listem to it. i don’t actually know, but this is kinda a stupid…

I first heard of Walhalla when i was a freshman in 2001. My friend’s mom took us down there, I was so scared I was shaking. I didn’t go back again until this winter. We go there pretty often now, and we have walked it a few times. Well from high street to the Mansion. Nothing has ever really happened, besides last time we heard some weird noises. There was also a time we were out there really late at night and we walked up the hill a bit towards the house and all of us but my friend Ruben were too scared to keep going, he went over to the left of the house in the little clearning where i think there is a swing or something and he said he saw something that looked like there could have been a statue there at some point. It was so creepy. We place on walking the entire road at some point this summer. I love going down there. Anyone that wants to come, contact me, claysgirl05@yahoo.com. we would love to have more people!
