Real Haunted House

Mooney’s Mansion

Columbus, Ohio

During the 1950s, a couple lived in this mansion until the husband axed his wife to death and buried her in the woods surrounding the house. The statue of the woman that the husband had erected as a wedding gift when the two first married now appears to bleed–due to the ax wounds. The husband’s ghost is said to inhabit the upstairs bedroom in which the murder took place.

I have been down walahalla a couple times, once during the day, once at night.. I have no clue where this mansion or house is, but maybe i’ll have to get out and walk up the steep hills….? I assume you the driveway to this house is not off of walahalla because the house must sit at the top of the ravine? i have never encountered anything odd while driving near the bridge or anything else. After reading through all the comments, I understand why the address isn’t listed.. because the address isn’t even on Walhalla road.. it’s gotta be off that road in which the bridge runs over… next time i’ll try to find that road from high…so we’re on top of the bridge… any help on this?

i went down there in 1991 with my older sister and two friends. we saw nothing that relates to house but we were chased by a 1950s type car that vanished about half way down the road. we also saw four tall men walking very strange looking dogs. one of the men turned and faced us. he looked like he had no eyes and deathly white skin. i have been down that road since then and never saw anything of the sort. it was either a real supernatural experience or someone played a great joke on us. i will never know

OK all. This is FOR REAL.The place is STILL scary as hell.Stories of lights flickering on & off with electric NOT powered to the house. It IS on WALHALLA Dr.,off Indianola Dr.It may be accessed off High St.Once You turn on Walhalla, the road descends downward. The road is windy and treelined. This place will scare the hell out of you.Supposedly owned by a cult of somekind,as the windows are totally blacked out.yes people do walk on the grounds at Halloween,so If you believe in Safety in Numbers,go then.In Clintonville area of Columbus. It’s also called the house in Glen Echo Ravine,as well as Mooney Mansion.Time to be creeped…

I have been on Walhalla numerous of times even been up to the house just once. This is suppose to be true but haven’t seen anything. Yes, they say you can be able to see shadow of the woman that was killed by her husband in the house, but the husband supposedly hung himself off of Calumet brigde. This was suppose to be a murder-suicide.And yes, your suppose to ee a figure of him, as well, hanging from the bridge. But i have heard people said they have experienced od driving down the road getting close to the house, the their cars would start to accelerate faster. But that hasn’t happened to me. But if your willing to go thru Walhalla, it is a one way street off of Indianola, not far from studio 35 (which is also haunted). Not sure of the address, but it is a big white mansion on the left side, right next to Calumet brigde, you can’t miss it. It sits on top of a hill. Have fun investigating!

I went there when i was a little kid a few years ago. Me and my friends went up there at midnight on halloween day to see things that were said to happen. Things like a blue light that always glows in the top floor window and status with blood coming out of there face. Me and my friends made it about halfway up the stairs when a man started run down after us from the house screaming and yelling. That night we saw the blue light. Now this blue light i remember was very very very strange. It was as if the light came from something uniformly glowing. I quickly ruled out a computer screen, a lamp, or any other household things. The next day when went all the way up to the house and saw the status had red stains distinctly coming from there eyes. I was soooo spooked about the whole thing. Now im no ghost preacher, i often think ghost shows on tv are fake, but one thing is for sure there were red stains from the eyes of the status that were designed as a water fountain and there was an ire unexplainable blue glow from the top left window of the mansion

Fake, fake, fake. There was no murder done in that area, no murder/suicide of a husband & wife in the 50s; a bit of research with the papers and records of the time will tell you that. There’s othing spooky about the road at all. It is an odd road — it’s a back-country road down the ravine, in the middle of metro Columbus. Very pretty, tree-shaded, and bursting with flowers in the spring. But no spookier than, say, the Olentangy bike trail at night. And as for the “man yelling at people” — yeah, the cops watch folks pretty closely in that area BECAUSE of all the stories; the people who own said house are pretty tired of all the trespassers. The road IS an incline, and biking down it, you can coast all the way through the road without pedaling. And SteadySteve — do your research. You can’t access Walhalla by car off High St, as Walhalla’s one-way at that point, no turns allowed. You have to come down it from the Indianola end.

OK!!! I now know where Mooney’s Mansion is. Been there PLENTY of times. One day when I was down there, there was a WHITE OWL in the middle of the creek along the right side of the road. I found that quite ODD.
The story about the mansion is true but he also killed his 2 daughters. So I’ve been told by life long residents of Walahalla.
I read on here one day that if you start off on Indianola Ave. at Walahalla, if you turn your car off, put it in neutral, and steer, you can coast ALLLL the way to High St. Well, it’s true. I took my mom up there to do it with her one day cause she didn’t believe me and SHE FREAKED OUT. It was actually funny. lol!
But the witch being hung from the bridge… NOT TRUE! It was a OSU student who comitted suicide. It is said that her spirit still hangs out there. I don’t know… BUT…
A couple of years ago, my dog, me and a friend stopped right before the bridge and we heard a big BOOM on top of the car. I seen a shadow go through the car. My dog must of seen it too cause he was going crazy and he was looking ALL over for it. My friend got out of the car cause he thought someone up on Calumet through something at us, nobody was there. I told him I seen a shadow but he was confussed cause the dog was going nuts. We then backed the car up and right where we was sitting, directly under the car was a PLASTIC statue of baby Jesus. A PLASTIC statue would NOT have made that loud, god awful noise and would not have landed directly where the shadow passed through the car. I still don’t understand it. THIS IS A TRUE STORY! I was there. It happened to me.
I would like to understand what kind of hold the paranormal have on Walahalla Ave.
Would anyone like to establish some kind of PARANORMAL RESEARCHING, GHOST HUNTING group in Ohio? I’m VERY interested. If you are too, Email me at JenGore1984@aol.com. Thank You.
P.S.
My moms house is also haunted!

my dad’s ex wife took my father my younger brother and I to wahala. she told us about the husband killing his wife and children then killing himself. and also about a boy who was teased and bullied whom hung himself from the bridge after school but it was rumored that someone killed him. I have heard a LOT of stories about the house and bridge. Some people on here have said some of the same things. Mainly I think a man went crazy killed his whole family and killed himself. I have not been there since i was a preteen but would love to go back now that I am older and into the whole ghost thing! I have seen ghosts but not at any “haunted” places.

i went to this street back in high school in the 90′s was under the bridge an near the house. i knew nothing if the story except that the street was suppose to b scary. its a one way street one way out kept hearing cars coming but no cars ever appeared. saw a lught on in the house top floor was told no one lived there. kept hearing strange noises from the wooded area at the bottom of the house but never came across the source. the weirdest thing was i heard a dog bark i could have sworn i saw a stray but when i looked again it was gone i couldnt see or hear it run away. then 10 years later i see a article with one version of the story that included mr mooney had a dog he killed along with the family and that there have been reports of seeing the ghost of a dog that refuses to leave the area as if still gaurding its home. i never tried this but i have heard reports if u park in front of the bridge turn your car off an put in nuetral your car will start to roll. it is reported the children he killed an hung over the bridge still loom an its them pushing your car to safety to get you away from crazy mr mooney who is also reported to still lurk the area. its suppose to be the white house at the top of the hill next to the bridge for those who are askin i believe its 259 walhalla
