Morpheus Bridge
A family of three was driving along this bridge, when they crashed into the side, being ejected from the car and falling to the murky depths below. As a result of this tragic incident, the woman and child died, leaving only the father. It is said that if one parks his car on the bridge on Halloween, it car will shut off, and the woman will appear, searching for her lost child.

Wow… I was just browsing hauntings in North Carolina and saw Morpheus Bridge and couldn’t believe it. It’s the road I live on. I go over that bridge all the time.. but I’ve never heard that story before. Now i’m going to be creeped out every time I go over it.

I have been over this bridge numerous times. Never seen, heard, smelled, tasted anything in or around this bridge resemebling a ghost. The baby (if story is true) is probably lost in the overgrown grass on both sides of the road near this bridge. NCDOT needs to come out and cut the grass; shoot for that matter, the family may have just driven off the road into the overgrown grass/woods and may still be driving around trying to find their way out.

I live in Wendell which is 5 min outside Zebulon bout 25-30 min from Raleigh.I’ve heard different ways of going across the bridge and/ or stopping, you stop in the middle and cut your car off, or put and neautral and let it roll across the bridge and it’ll cut off, or stop at the side cut your lights and car off and you can hear her calling his name who knows. This legend has been around for many years and i go across the bridge almost every day.So i tried it one night and nothing happened.but it is scary on halloween.Just for fun. They say you’ll see her lookin for her little boy.And also this story has been twisted so many times from the first I’ve heard. But the accident really happened…true story, car flip in to the river and killed the mother and son, I never heard there was a father driving the car, but who knows, maybe you’ll see her or hear her.

wow that is scary! I heard that there is a bridge that is haunted in NC and in the 50s a school bus crashed and drove off the bridge and now if u put powder on ur bumper and then stop on the bridge u will feel a big push and then get out and there will be little hand prints on the bumper and if u wash the powder off the hands will be burned into the paint on the car.

I did this and, as you might guess, nothing happened. I cannot find any record of this actual event ever taking place after asking the local people in the Wendell area. I think this is a tall tale.

I live less than a mile from this bridge and it is TRUE. Trust me. We do it every Halloween. You can’t start your car up after it happens and we always have to go get it the next morning. You can see her and she keeps saying, “Sally come out and play.” And she sits in the road and cries. Plus, you can hear the baby crying if you stay there long enough. This isn’t a joke. I promise.

It’s actually called Cry Baby bridge and its not in Wendell. I have been to it. If you do a little research online you will get a couple of places listed. The so called Cry Baby bridge is where you hear a baby crying. Supposedly the story is a woman and child were traveling by car when they wrecked on the bridge. The car went in the creek killing the mother. The baby survived the wreck only to die a few hours later possibly by drowning or animals. If you go to it at night when the conditions are just right you can hear something that sounds like a baby crying. But the story has several versions to it. If you really want to be spooked and see a full body ghost email me at tarheelcreations@yahoo.com and I can tell you where!

This tale is true! Not now, but many years ago this bridge was extremely narrow. If you look at the bridge now you can tell it is fairly new construction, and it is much wider than it used to be. Before only it was best if only one car at a time would past. There are many variations of the story, but ultimately the story goes that a family of 3, mom and dad and baby, were driving home late one night in the rain, and the car ran off of the road or was run off of the road by another vehicle, into the creek below this bridge. They say if you ride late at night you can still hear the baby crying. Others say that you can see the mother looking for her baby. It doesn’t have to be Halloween to hear anything.
I will give my account.
Back in High School me, a guy friend, and a female friend of mines had just finished dropping of one of our other female friends home. He were returning home from going out somewhere, I can’t remember. Anyway, we were on Morpheus Bridge Road coming from Wendell, where the Mr. G’s Gas Station is. While riding down the road I specifically remember to us listening to a DMX CD. While riding we ALL heard a baby crying. We at first thought it was in the song. We all became scared because we each already heard the ghosts stories of this bridge. To ensure our imaginations had not gotten the best of us, we then played the song again….No baby crying.
On another occasion, I was coming home late from work to my grandmother’s house, which is on a road off of Morpheus Bridge Road. I typically didn’t go this way but was trying to make curfew and this way was quicker than the other way I normally take. Sure enough once I got to the part of the road right before Morpheus Bridge and near the cemetary on that road, my headlights began to flicker and the radio cut off. I heard someone wailing. Needless to say I put my foot to the floor and did 70mph the rest of the way.
But wait! There’s more……
Like I stated before, there is a Cemetary on Morpheus Bridge Road. Years ago, my dad came home from a concert in Raleigh very late at night. He TOTALED the vehicle right in the vicinity of the cemetary. He left the accident with only a scratch. The car itself looked as though it had been ripped to shreds.
Like I said, I’ve never seen anything crazy per se, but crazy Sh*t has happened to me on that road… Coincidence? who knows

This one is definatley true. When my step dad was in highschool him and his friends drove up to North Carolina from South Carolina. They went to the bridge and killed the car and sat. After a few minutes my step dads friend yelled “I got yo baby *****.” and in less then 2 seconds the woman was at the rear of the car on the driver side. My step dad who was driving, fired up the car and hauled butt. but ya this one defianley true.

That’s not gravity hill, it’s sally’s bridge. i went last night. we heard a slight howl, that wasn’t a dog. But we took a ton of pictures on the sides of the bridge and it seems like one of the sides had the most activity. we had almost 20 pictures of orbs, large ones that weren’t there in the picture we took before. they just kept apearing and in some pics there was more than one.
you are sapposed to turn your car off and she is sapposed to come and try and get in the car or open the window to make you help her find her baby.
