Motorcycle Crash
It is said that many years ago, a serial rapist was running rampant through the town. Late one night a car pulled up to one females house and started flashing the lights and honking the horn. Fearing that it was the rapist, the young lady called her beau to come and protect her. Hurriedly trying to reach his love, the man was killed trying to make a sharp turn on his motorcycle. Allegedly, if one goes to the site of the girls house and flashes his lights and honks his horn, the light of the motorcycle may be seen coming around the bend.

Hey, I am an RA at Miami, and I am taking a bunch of my guys out this weekend to go to a haunted house and then visit a bunch of real haunted places around Oxford/Dayton/Cincinnati area. I came across this when I was doing some research for Friday night. Can someone please tell me how to get there from campus, going out of town on 73 by cook field? My email is beersbm2@muohio.edu

I went to Miami in the 1990s. I had a van and we went out there at least six times. Several times it seemed like there was a light coming towards us. I think it may have something to do with the rolling hills of the road as it comes to the location, that is a car coming from the distance, two lights appear as one and flickering when it is headlights coming into and out of view with the hills. I never had the light get very close and had no experience with taillights or anything else. Did have some experience with the neighbors who must be exasperated. Be respectful.

Ok Ok…soo just so you all know…I’ve seen this 20-30 times…(and i know when im going to see it bc when i turn on the road i get goosebumps and a sick feeling..you go around the bend and on top of the 3rd hill you stop along a line of trees..its always worked when we turned the car completely off..you flash your lights on and off 3 times and then leave them off..it could happen anywhere from 2 min. to 45 min. ive never seen the “red” light..but my friends and i have def. seen the dim yellowish light..and it sways back and forth…and if you can sit there long enough…it comes towards you…it actually got to the front of our car once…also…if you go down the road and go to far…turn around after the 4th hill and watch in your rear view mirror….ive seen it that way too…i didnt believe in any of this stuff until i seen this myself…its creepy..and its weird that i know if im going to see it or not with the feelings that i get….it will def. freak you out!!!!everyone needs to go try this..but be careful bc of the cops have been watching it…they’re really bad around halloween…but they usually give you a warning and tell you not to come back…they will ask for your name and social security number just to make sure you dont come back!! seriously…you need to go see it!!! its awesome and for anyone that doesnt belive….sure will after they see this…but you might have to have some patients!!!!!!!

I’ll preface this with the fact that I truly believe in the existence of ghosts. It’s a huge interest of mine and I research and attempt to experience the paranormal whenever I get the chance.
However…
The “light” on Oxford Milford road is nothing paranormal. It’s an illusion caused by the length and general rigid path of the road.
Turning off 73 onto Oxford Milford as you drive all the way down the hill to the turn around spot where most people park, notice how relatively straight the road stays with regular and small dips and hills in the road. The road also descends at a rather constant pace.
Notice about midway down the road the intersection and road crossing it. This intersection is another cause behind the illusion. Cars turning from this cross-road and going up the hill towards 73 (higher chance of going this way than down the hill, 73>The nothingness of down the hill) will appear as red lights flickering as the brake/tail lights show in the night, the flickering is caused by the slight hills and dips of the road. The visibility from a distance is due once again to the relative straightness and angle of the road.
Cars coming down the road from 73 to the intersection make up the “motorcycle headlight” part of the illusion. From such a distance the two rather predominant orbs of headlights appear as one single light, which gives the appearance of the motorcycle headlight. This also makes it seem closer as both lights are composing the one light. As the cars coming down from 73 to the intersection turn off, the light disappears, or the car continues down the road and eventually you will notice it’s a car that has appeared in the path of what seemed like a motorcycle.
If you have any questions or opposing opinions, feel free to shoot me an e-mail at fastpaws (at) gmail.com.

I live in oxford and have gone to this light. the first time i went with one other friend. we made it to the bend in the road but then a black figure passed in front of the reflectors. we freaked out and turned around immediatly. it looked like a person. i dunno maybe someone was walking but our headlights were right on it and it still looked like a shadow!! wwe went again with two other friends so we wouldnt freak out as fast. and we didnt see anything. so we just turned the car back on disappointed. but as soon as we did wwe saw a red tail light. it was going away from us so we tried following it but it just went away. i plan on going back cause i still want to see the light. but there are definatly other things going on

I live in oxford and I kept hearing about it so i did it one night with my boyfriend who lives on that road. We went and flashed our lights and sure enough we saw the light. The trees on my side of the car started to move. It was freaky. Then my boyfriend told me that he went into that barn where she had hung herself… the rope was still there! He took a picture of it and when he got back to his car.. the picture had erased on its own. The is also a heart with 666 carved into a wooden post. The house where she lived in has been torn down. But the barn still remains. Other stories that ive heard from friends is that when they did it, when they shut off their car .. it wouldnt start after they was ready to leave. And when the house was still up there would be lights on in the house.

I went there two years ago with my friends. The road itself is isolated and creepy. By the time we pulled up and began waiting for the light, I chickened out and closed my eyes. Yea, I was scared of a light.
They all claimed to see it. My friend let out a pretty convincing yelp, and she’s an awful actor. Hm. Who knows.

Hi. I am an author of “ghost books” and am trying to find a real haunted house on which to base my next book. Would you happen to know of any and if so, would you have a way to contact the owner for permission? This will be a novel and I can change names, places, etc. if the owner wants. I just need something to start with.
Thank you,
Deborah L. Davis

The story is wrong. You can look the accident up on the microfilm at the library. But the ghost is real. He came within twenty feet of me. It changed the way I think about everything. You can never go back to the person you were before you saw him.

I started going to see the light back in 1995 and still see it when I go…which is seldom now. It is as Real as Real can be. I have seen it a million times and was skeptical about it at first. One nite a bunch of us in high school went out there. We unloaded half of the group near where the light begins and the rest of us went up on the third hill and flashed our lights 3 times. We saw the light and they never did. So I know it is not hoaxed. Every time I think about it I get chills. This is the real deal.

Does anyone know when or what time this motorcycle accident took place? I am trying to get as much knowledge, precise location and time accuracy as possible. I have been to the bend recently, but not seen anything yet, so I’m not sure info is correct!!! It is a very HOT cop spot I take it?!

The urban legend varies a lot. In fact, the story that circulates on the internet is really far off what my impression of the phenomenon is. I don’t know when the accident occurred. The factual sources I have consulted don’t have any record of any accidents. A gentleman who has lived on the road for many years swears that there was no accident that he remembers. That being said, I have seen it. I have seen the tail lights of the car that hit him. Unfortunately, the only way to find any records is to have the name of the deceased, which we don’t have, since all the death records are accessed by name.
As far as the police go, I have to say that the best thing to do is be very respectful of the people that live there. Be quiet and don’t even think of littering or showing up drunk. Oh, and don’t go at Halloween or on a weekend. March is miserable, but no one else will be there.
When I get the opportunity, I am going to visit the records office and other sources of information. I will release the truth when I uncover it. Many people have tried and came up with nothing.
