My boyfriend and I recently stayed on the 4th floor and while minor, we think there was some activity in our room. One of our first nights there, he said he saw both a green and yellow light flash; I didn't see anything. The next night though, I was half-asleep when twice I saw a light flash in the room, like someone was taking my picture. The blinds were drawn over the windows so it couldn't have come from outside. The next and final night, I saw another flash of light; and both my boyfriend and I heard a rustling, like a bag being moved (or, as my boyfriend described it, like someone pouring cereal). It was a bit spooky but I don't think the spirit, if a spirit was responsible, intended any harm; and I didn't get any bad vibes.

I stayed in room 160 on October 22nd, I felt something watching me and my wife all night. The lights went out (multiple times) without us touching them. When we called the front desk, they said there were no reported electric problems. I talked my wife into staying because I didn't feel like changing rooms at 1am. We are just a about to nod out and we hear water running in the bathroom. IT WAS THE TUB FILLING UP WITH WATER!!!! I freaked out, ran out of the room with my wife (both barely clothed) and refused to return. Hotel staff had to collect our things for us. Kudos to the staff, they got us a suite for the night and comped us the rest of the week! Thanks everyone! I am too scared to go back.

I stayed at the hotel, it was for a long weekend at the end of June of 2001. I didn't know a the time what it was, but I too experienced paranormal activities there. The 3rd day of my stay i found out by asking questions to some of the employees there, that it was hauted. The first day i settled in my room, in mid afternoon i was taking a rest and saw a very warm zone at the edge of my bed....like one of those heat patches on a hot summer road. The same night, a flashing light flew in the middle of the night right across my room...like a lit match that was being waved in the dark. Not to mention all the distant voices i heard, doors closing and opening from a distance, as if the hotel was extremely buzy...and it wasn't. Not many people in the hotel that weekend.

Anyway, regardless of it all, i have a warm happy feeling of that hotel. I really think the ghost occupying the place (Carolyn) is a nice warm one.

The only feeling i didn`t like was at the front desk area. There was a very cold (frigid) patch of air that persisted there night and day. And it felt spooky...but as for the rest of the premises, i really have a good memory of it, and enjoyed our stay.

I haven`t been back since, and maybe one day will again.

I just got back from a stay at the Mount Washington Hotel. I had stayed there one night a couple years before and heard stories about ghosts but didn't think anything of it. Well, this time I was there for two nights and the first night I was sooo sick and had a very restless night. The second night I was sleeping soundly when something woke me up - I opened my eyes and the ceiling light in my room was on. I was in room 329. I got up and turned it off and went back to bed. For the next couple of hours I felt very restless and uneasy. A very beautiful hotel and a great room with a beautiful view, but I am in no rush to go back after that experience.

We just stayed at the Mount Washington hotel. I got that same spooky creeped out feeling that others have mentioned. I found this article because I was pretty sure after staying there that it may be haunted. I kept saying the halls remind me of "The Shining" I expected to see ghosts crossing the halls. We stayed in a room in one of the towers. Whenever someone would close the room door, the bathroom door would slam shut. I know it was just some vaccuum, but it was spooky. Then any time someone opened/closed a door near our room it sounded like someone was turning our door knob. The elevator really creeped me out, I would rather use the stairs!

Earlier this week my wife and I stayed overnight at the beautiful and historic Mount Washington hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. I should say that neither my wife or I had ever given any credence to stories of ghosts. And we had absolutely no idea that Mount Washington Hotel was supposed to be haunted. When we were given Room 302, we had no inkling that we were staying just a few doors down the hall from the Princess Suite, Room 314, a room in which paranormal investigators claim to have found evidence of spectral activity.

About 11:30pm we turned out the lights in the room and went to bed At about 12:30am, while we were sleeping, suddenly the ceiling light came on and the ceiling fan began to turn.

I asked my wife “Why did you turn the light on?” She said “I didn’t. I haven’t been out of bed.” I got up and went over to the switch. I slid the switch from right to left and the light went out. Being an engineer, I had a technical explanation: “The fan must have some kind of thermostat that turns it on.”

The next day I looked at the controls. There was no thermostat. The light was controlled only by a slider switch. Something had pushed the “fan” button and moved the on-off switch to the on position. As I stared at the switch I got to the end of my ability to explain what had happened.

After breakfast we met by the grandfather clock in the lobby for the historic walking tour of the hotel. Someone asked our tour guide, Mr. Charlie Cohn, about ghosts in the hotel. “Oh, yes” he said “The Princess Suite, Room 314, is said to be frequented by the ghost of Carolyn Foster Stickney, who inherited the hotel from her husband and often stayed in that room. Guests report that ghosts sometimes turn the gas heaters and the lights on and off.” Gulp! My wife and I locked eyes.

After the tour my wife told Mr. Cohn what had happened. She told him we were in Room 302. “Yes”, he nodded, “that’s an active room.”

An active room. When checking out the desk clerk asked if we had a pleasant stay. I told him it was great except that a ghost had turned our lights on in the middle of the night. “Yeah, that happens” he muttered without looking up from his keyboard.

I stayed there about a year and 1/2 ago with my parents when I was 21 years old. I also got very earie feelings while walking alone down the long hallways at night. Also, for some odd reason my dad and i were both awakened at the exact same time... a few seconds later the fireplace turned on by itself. my dad and i looked at eachother, i got up to turn it off, but we didn't say a word until the morning when we told my mom about it. i'd like to go back and stay with my boyfriend to see if anything else happens.
