Long ago, a woman was brutally murdered in this hotel. Since that time, there have been strange occurrences. It is said that late at night, the woman may be heard walking up and down the halls. It is also said that she knocks on the doors of rooms. When guests go to open their doors, there is nothing there but a cool breeze.

Nunya, nice of You to notice that we, or surely I am crazy. And what comes to dead people, who are still hanging around here. Well, let’s just say that supernatrual gives kicks for some people who think that it is nice that there are things that you can not explainein so called rational sense. I am one of theme. Some of the “ghosthunters” just want to know what is on the “other side” and one can say s/he is just looking some exigment for parin life. This is my opinion.

my interest in ghost is not that there real or how haunted a houuse is its the fact that there here on earth instead instead of moving on to a better life there stuck where they died so if i were to stay in a hotel or something only because its haunted its to keep the spirit company

This is a TRUE story, I myself have recently been at the Normandy Inn with a couple of friends with the encouragement of this story. I have been very prevoked into going and those said to be “strange occurances” were real. We couldnt sleep all night long….she walked on and on as if she was protecting people and knocked on our doors as if she was a catereer. Well anyway if anyone is planning on going to this hotel be prepared for a night of fright! This SH*T is REAL! P.S. DONT GO ALONE IT WONT BE PLEASANT! *GOOD LUCK* to whom will go because you never know, you might need it.

I apologise for bursting all of the bubbles on this board, but the Normandy is not a hotel it is a resteraunt. And it has been not only shut down but gutted for over 2 years now. I do believe there is a ghost and her name is Maria. I have been there on several occasions before it was shut down and do believe. I have been trying to get more info on it, why it was shut down, if it is just getting renovated, etc. Although 2+ yrs is a long time to renovate.

Sarah is correct…I grew up very close to the Normandy Inn, and it was a restaurant. I heard that it was previously a hotel, but that was many years ago. As long as I lived there (22 years), it was a restaurant. I had gone with my parents several times. It always had a “different feeling”, but that was it. I would have loved to see something! I have always been interested in ghosts! I have read stories of people seeing a ghost in the kitchen, or upstairs.
It was gutted over 2 years ago, and is not being used. I heard that they were going to build an office building in it’s place, or stores. I think that the town is trying to make it a landmark because of the history, so plans have been placed on hold. If you wanted to look at it, it is on Lakeland Avenue in Bohemia (close to Veterans Highway and MacArthur airport).

im not tryin to be rude or anything…o.k. yes i am. you guys are crazy if you want to see a ghost.this ghost may not be nice.or any other ghost for that matter.you dont know know what its like until youve really experienced it.believe me.it was not pretty.i lived in a house in north carolina that is really, REALLY haunted.it is a family house actually.and they still live there today.and i still stay in it.only when i have to.what now is only an attic was once a room to three people.my great uncle was upstairs sleeping and he woke up and there a man standing at the foot of his bed.he ran screaming. hes been traumatized ever since.he was scared so bad from all that has happened that now he can not speak and he is like a child now and can not function like he once could.and once me and the fam. went up there and well if you want to know the rest just say so on here.ill write back.

i heard in my family house that my grandpa and his 5 brothers and sis. mom had cancer.she was in so much pain.the docter said when she stops screaming she”ll be dead.the kids sat on the stairs and listened until nothing.today it is said that you can here a women cryig upstairs.for more info write back here.

Never been there but my Dad had a company at MacArthur airport and passed it many times…have always felt that strange feeling when passing there and just got a chill reading about it

I was there tonight and took a bunch of pics. I didnt expect to find anything because its on a busy stretch of highway, there was a lot of light from surrounding businesses at 10 pm and i didnt feel anything when i was looking thru the broken windows and walking around the building. Well, when I got home and looked at the pics, there is a clear reflection in one of the windows of some girl….its not one of those ghost pics where it might sorta kinda look like something if you squint or close one eye, its so REAL!!! This is a restaurant that is now closed. I grew up in the town, and it was once a speak-easy during the times of prohibition. There are many secret doors, and spaces where alcohol may have been hidden. It may have been used as a hotel in the past, but it was an open restaurant up until sometime in the past 7 years, then it closed.

If none of the stories were true, why would they keep publishing them and reporting them? My co-worker grew up down the street from the place and he told me that many years ago it was a speakeasy, a go-go joint (with rooms upstairs), a (gay) bar and a French resturant/bar. It is in the process now of being awarded landmark status so real estate developers cannot tear it down. There was a go-go dancer killed there in the 60’s, her body dumped in the trash bin behind the building. Her murderer is still in jail, and there are stories of her walking around outside the building at night in a skimpy outfit in all kinds of weather. She seems to be looking for a way inside. True or not? who knows, there have been many similar stories along those lines. Also the stories of Maria / Sarah who was strangled upstairs in one of the rooms ( a hooker?) still leaves footprints on the carpet when the building is empty. Again, True or not? who cares…it is still interesting having something so haunted right by the house.!!!!

Once when I was driving by the Normandy I went to answer my cell phone, which I shouldnt have, but it was a real important call. Anyway, I spilled my Wendy’s frosty all over my lap and that caused me to drop the phone. Finally, I pulled over right in front of this house. I grabbed the cell phone and as I was saying “Hello? Hello?” I looked up to see a woman covered in blood in the front window. She was holding a cell phone in her right hand - then I heard the darkest, scarriest, slithering voice in the world come through my earpiece: “Hey..you spilled your frosty…”

I’m commenting on some people asking about the Amityville house. The Amityville horror house is not a “horror house”. The house isn’t haunted. The people that lived there, the Lutz’s, created the story. They were in over their head with the mortgage payments so they schemed this story about hauntings. And they got ALOT of money off of this place. It is NOT haunted at all. It is pretty funny reading about supposed hauntings in the home.

The place known as the Normandy Inn in Bohemia (L.I. NY) was known as the Chateau La Boheme during the early 1960s; and operated as a restaurant by a woman named Helen. It was a hangout for those of us employed as pilots at MacArthur Airport (now Islip Airport), among others. it was purchased in 1969 or so by a retired publishing executive from New York (city) named **** Freda. He and his lovely companion Winnie lived there, and ran it as the Normandy Inn, where the medeival alcoves and intimate dining room made the European cuisine taste that much better. For a short time **** even employed a sommelier. It remained a “pilot’s hangout” well beyond my departure from the area in 1989. The small bar was a great place to tell “there I was” stories. We all believed the place had been built by a Czec Baron, and that there was a beer garden before the roads isolated the structure. There were most certainly ’secret’ passageways, but never a hint of ghosts. **** was going to set up a private aviator’s club(he was devoted private pilot) in the cellar, but that never happened. Wondefful old place. I hope it is preserved.

The correct spelling is NORMANDIE INN, with an “ie” on the end. I work in Bohemia and drive by the place many times. It closed down shortly after I found out it was “haunted”. I found out via the Travel Channel on TV, no less. We were going to go around Halloween time, but that same year, the restaurant closed. I remember the medieval statues which have been stolen now. Sadly the building is in disrepair and needs much work…however, there does seem to be a glimmer of hope as a interior decorating business wants to not only buy the building and set up shop there, but also restore the building to it’s original grandeur. As they say “We will see”. I would have rather loved to see another restaurant take over the building though, this way it would be a business more open to the public. When the restaurant closed, I always dreamed of turning this building into something like the Darkside Haunted Mansion and run an attraction around Halloween. However, the problem with that is parking. There is little on site parking. But since a Haunted attraction would operate at night with most of the day business’ closed…I think a parking arrangement could be made. At any rate, I will be keeping a close eye on this place.

You know, Kimberlee, I bet your right. At a hotel in Scotland that was once a house, a little girl was murdered by two men, and now the little girl’s ghost trys to lead anyone who listens or follows to where the murderers put her body. How would that help her? I’m not shore.
