Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Old Elerbe Road School

Shreveport, Louisiana

This former school was closed due to the disappearances of several people, one being a beloved janitor. When the children went to look for him, they too disappeared–one by one. All that remains is a building in which all the lockers have been knocked out; in their place is a mural of the grim reaper. At night, one may hear the screams of children and the sound of a school bell.

I 1st heard about this school from my boyfriend who has lived in the area all of his life. He told me a story of what had happened to him and a friend out there. It is down a road in the middle of the country, very secluded. He said he and his friend went out late at night. They were just walking through the school when they heard weird sounding footsteps. They turned around and saw something that looked like a goat, but it’s eyes were bright red w/out flashlight. It continued to walk toward them and they began to run. They stopped to see if it was still there and it appeared just in front of them. Every corner they turned in this torn up school the thing would appear. They finally made it to their car and never looked back.
Years later, out of curiosity, a bunch of us got together after getting daquiris and headed out there. We mostly scared each other and were too loud to hear anything but each other. It is a very scary place and the cops do show up shortly after arriving. They told us that there has been cult rituals at the school and it is not a safe place to be.

Sefer, I don’t have a site right now. I had one but there was a problem with the server. I’m building one soon to put all this stuff in. I’ll get on here and post where it is as soon as I get it finished. I’ve got over 30 local stories and locations I’m putting on it.

Thanks Janet, I’m working on getting all this stuff together. I’m in the process of writing a book also. All my stories will be in depth in the book. I’ve got some that will make the hair raise on your neck. Mine does and I’m the one writing them! lol. It all takes so long but it’s getting there.

Hey Drake! Keep me posted on that book! I went to Natchitoches the weekend before last and I took LA-1 to get there. Saw a great old building in Red River Parish. Was gonna stop to take pics but it was to flooded. It looked like an old school house or something. Do you know anything ab it?

Drake says:

Tara, I don’t know the building you’re talking about but I probably would if I saw it. I used to travel that road at least twice a week a long time ago. Is it near Armstead?

elderbe school, is bunk if you ask me, i have never researched anything bad happening out there, bad location = bad financing = abandoned building, That gyn is pretty errie, I dont like the gym, i always get the felling i’m being watched in there mainly when standing in those vent openings in the back cornor. cows are the main haunts out there, but hey i have picked up some free flashlights left behind by the freaked out tennies. other haunts, bell tower seems real, abondened prison is cool, threw a party out there once, it seems to have activity, caught some orbs or streaks on film. The womens building out there is scary as sh- poop! and i think is very active, felt the ice chills, others seen imiages., heard wispering, old cemetary downtown is a good haunt too, wispering, electronic interference, Take the girls to the cemetary to get them worked up, one time i saw a cop pick up a hooker and go park in there!!

Yes drake is right about the other side of the bridge and up the hill cos we used to drive a car up it,and there are a few old concrete picnic tables and u can tell what once used to be old barbque grills we used to party there in the nineties…I dunno how u get over there now….Im sure there is a way though….

This is to Drake:is there a way u can obtain photos of the school when it open/I live in New Orleans now 4bout 10yrs grew up in s’port tho and if I had a dolla4evrytime ive been to that school…man, I could prolly buy that landowner out lol. I always made sure I brought my shotgun w/me wen I went cuz we used to shoot that place the F$$k up..hek im sure a good portion of the shell casings on the ground belonged to us.Me and some friends ended up having to stay the night there one time cuz the truck wouldnt start…well we finally got it started at around dawn….but I havent been ther since the nineties.I would go to the courthouse or Lsus myself but I live in NO now &dont get up there too much…So please it would be awsome if u could somehow obtain pics of it wen it was open….oh and I do remember the abandoned campsite on top of the hill on the other side of wallace lake dam theres some old concrete picnic tables and barbq grills i remember…but I hear that bridge is gone now …but im sure theres more than plenty of ways to get to it.Another scary &very dangerous we used to go to wen I lived there was the in the control house in the old swingbrige over clyde fant u no the bridge next to veterans park BUT IF U WALK ON THAT BRIDGE WATCH UR STEP those tracks get to be 2ftgaps in between and WATCH UR STEP WEN U GO UPSTAIRS TO THE CONTROL ROOM but yeah that would make some great photos its prolly alot easier to enter the bridge on the bossier side and the old control room is nearest to the bossier side GOOD LUCK!!!IF U TRY IT ! but about those school pics Im only seeking after pics wen that school was open there the only pics of it I wanna see..ill check this site everyday to see ur answer since Ive just discovered this site 2day

And speaking of veterans park does any one have some pics of the old veterans park wooden amphitheater it was vandalized, burned, and collapsed about 1991 and it was built in 1976 after the shreveport landfill was filled in.but in the 8os wen I was a child I remember that amphitheater &it was abandoned then but U could ride ur bike 2 it&in it it was neat,it sat on the water like an island, all thats left now is an overgrown platform ,but yeah if anyone could obtain some pics of wen it was open that would be awsome.Stevie Ray Vaughn, heart has played there, just to name a couple.

This is to Brandy; No im afraid this particular school is in no way Agnew and town country day school,A:this is not a schoolhouse structure. B: This particular school was closed in ‘77. C:Agnew and town country day school is on facebook w/ more than plenty of photos of Agnew and town country day school, and yes it the structure does resemble somewhat of a school house, which is a common look on most country day and private schools….no its not the same school but however alot of people of your generation think that it is because its on ellerbe and it was a well known school during its time….this school that this site is based on was barely even a school cos it was in the middle of nowhere. Its built of white colored bricks and is your typical 1950s 1 story school look to it like Ridgewood or Youree.

Nolaboy, this is from Matt’s myspace page…Cenla Paranormal Research under his photos of Ellerbe School This is a photo of the school when it was new, in 1957.

That’s the pathway.

You can get to the other side of the dam from the next road past the dam road. Go over the bayou and then walk through the woods up the hill. It’s the only way I know of unless you’re in a boat.

Thanx for that pic drake but actually I found that one from another site….the next time I come to S’port Im gonna have to go down to LSUS to see if I can dig up some more pics of it when it was open wich was how&where that black&white picture of it came from.

I drove past Ellerbe last night and I saw a very dim glow coming from the north side of the school. I tried to get a pic of it but it was too dark and foggy. There’s so much traffic on the road now you can’t stay stopped for long and I had to drive on before I wanted to. It may have been someone in the school with a light but it just sort of hung there and was bluish in color. This is the first time I’ve seen this at the school. I turned around and went back but I didn’t see it again. Strange indeed.

To NOLAboy: The ampitheather your talking ab is still partially there. Ab a year ago I went out there. You have to take some of the old paths to get to it but its still there! One of the platforms is almost covered in water. You can see it sticking out of the water. The platform that burned down is still there though. All thats left of it is the burnt platform. As for the control room over clyde fant, that is one scary walk! I havent been there in years bc Im not as brave as I used to be. If your on that bridge when a train comes across you better hold on bc it is VERY shakey! I also havent been out to Wallace Lake dam in a long time. I went out there when the bridge was still there and went across it. We walked around for a while but there wasnt really anything left, just tress and grass. Maybe we werent looking in the right place but we couldnt find anything. I went out there since the bridge is gone and couldnt find a way to get across the dam. We did find a way to get inside the fenced area. The little building inside the fence area was unlocked and you could look down inside the dam. Unfortunalty I did not have my camera and still regret that! One day I plan on going back out there just to see what it looks like now. Hope some of this info was usefull:)

To Drake: All I have found ab that building I was telling you ab off HWY 1 is that it is Hanna School. I found some pics of it on http://www.hauntla.com/hannaschool.html Do you know anything ab it?
