Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Old Elerbe Road School

Shreveport, Louisiana

This former school was closed due to the disappearances of several people, one being a beloved janitor. When the children went to look for him, they too disappeared–one by one. All that remains is a building in which all the lockers have been knocked out; in their place is a mural of the grim reaper. At night, one may hear the screams of children and the sound of a school bell.

Hey Charmed, No harm done! I did notice how we stopped some of the stupidity. I bet they will soon be back here though. As to the Pea Farm, it’s so overgrown you can’t see it at all anymore from the road. GE bought all that land and put up a big fence but it’s down in one section and there is a trail going back into the pine thicket that now surrounds the place. Someone told me its still the same inside except for the wisteria vines that have engulfed it. I can’t believe they haven’t torn it down. I owned a building in downtown Shreveport that was very haunted and it’s one of the topics on several other Shreveport haunted sites as well as a walking tour of haunted places in the downtown area. Are there any good places where you live now? I need to find more people like you around here and do some serious ghost hunting. All the paranormal websites and groups in Shreveport are so full of poo that I wouldn’t waste my time dealing with them. Even after writing them and telling them the real stories with the proof to back them up, they still leave the lies posted. I guess they like lies better than the truth. So did you hear about the mysterious lights in the night sky over the old school? You can only see them on clear nights. The first ones show up at dusk dark and then there are lots and lots of them after it gets real dark. There’s this really big one that changes it’s shape every night. They all move across the sky real slow. When the sun comes up they all disappear. It’s really wierd!

Great posts Drake and Charmed. I am 35 and a Shreveport native. I remember driving past the school once years ago in the daytime, but had no desire to get out. (I’ve never had any paranormal experiences, and am also a wuss I guess ;) … I’m fascinated with our local history and historic buildings (which we are losing more and more of at an alarming rate!). I am part of a local non-profit historic preservation society that is newly forming.
I would LOVE to hear more of your Shreveport haunted stories. As I mentioned, I’ve never had a legitimate experience with the paranormal, but a few of my friends have (one in particular). She shared a “flashback” with her father while driving with her family down a backroad in N. La. or S. Ark. when she was a child. They both saw an b/w image of a 1930’s car being pushed across the road…she has also has been confronted by the ghost of a child who perished in a house fire in the Broadmoor area (I believe). I should ask her to write down some of her stories…..
I want to check out the Downtown Ghost Tour as well as the Logan Mansion Tour on Austin Place. Even if that place isn’t really haunted, I’d love to see the inside. Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the post Wileyboo. I have always been a big history nut and love old buildings and architecture as well. Shreveport is the City of the Wrecking Ball. They have no sense of preservation whatsoever. I guess the people in charge don’t really care about anything but what they can get for thenselves or their cronnies. The Logan Mansion is an awesome place. The Municipal Auditorium houses many ghosts and was just featured in a real ghost hunt by a crew from out of town. A friend of mine has had some personal experiences there. The Ellerbe Road school is just a creepy old place and there may be some truth to what some of these kids are saying but it’s been blown way out of proportion. There are a few real haunted places around here like 601 Texas St. next to the court house. I think it’s on the downtown walking tour. I personally know about it and the things my family and I experienced there outnumber anything I have ever heard of, including The Myrtles Plantation. Keep looking back here and I’ll post a new story soon.

yeah I heard about this school but is it really huanted. I go to Fair Park High School and some people say it reminds them of our school. I kinda believe the rumors but its also kinda hard 2 believe. But I been there and it is really ****** scary. If you go on a certain night(we went friday) you don’t think you will cry you might will not not. But I went down ther and got left by my friends for a joke and it turned out a live or die situation. A white van came and turned into the drive way and the lights cut off. The first thing I said was it’s someone to visit the school. I heard a noice, for a split second I turned. There was nothing I turned back around the car was gone but I heard no car crank up and it was cut off I heard it when it did. When I turned back 2 the school there were 2 blsck shadow running toward me I rsn 2 the road as fast as possible. When I got there my friends came out off no where. I quickly jumped in the car and we drove off. When I looked back at the school there were the two black shadows going back 2 the school. I never been back ever since. But I might go back this halloween. I never learn the lesson.

Hayy.
I’ve lived in Bossier for about nine years.
I’ve asked tons of my friends to go up to the school with me, but all of them refused. They aren’t scared of the ghosts or the demons or anything. They’re all just really terrified of the guy that owns the property. They don’t want to get shot. If anyone would wanna go up there with me, just look me up on Myspace. The name is “Master Keys”.

Much love, and I really want to go.
Hahaha.

Hey I went to the school one night with my g/f and best friend. Since I’ve already heard stories about the gym, etc I decided to check out the tower since no one talks about it. I started to climb the ladder and about half way the old rusted thing had the upper part missing, so I had to pull myself up. Once I got to the top, I looked down and sure enough I did see my own reflection on the day that I die and nearly Sh*ted on myself. I am never going back to that school ever!

I’ve read most of the stories on here and I’d like to say to Nicole, I”m so sorry for you losing your friend Alexa. I hope you find her. And to tell you that most of these stories scared me and I heard about this haunted place at school. I heard a few stories, but never got to hear the rest. Anyway, I wish that you people would stop going to those places. If you want to be smart then leave the spirits alone. Also this is to Nicole Justine. There is nothing wrong with being emo or goth we are perfectly normal. You preps are just ******* stuopid and SO shallow. So you shouldn’t be talking, I bet everyone pretends to like you so you should just stop talking.

OK put all sh*t aside..what happened at this school that made history? My daughter came home telling me this and Im curious yes but not enuff to go out there. If anyone knows the exact history and no tall tales please email me at chitrchatr@yahoo.com.

Blockhead, If you’d read the comments by Charmed One, myself, and a few others, you’d know what went on. Exactly nothing. The whole thing is an Urban Legend. The school closed due to a lack of students in the area at the time. No one died there or anything else. It’s abandoned, overgrown with vines and it looks creepy so it’s what makes a good story. It’s owned by a man that runs a few cows on the land. Kids love ghost stories and they love to exagerate.

Drake says:

Watch out for killer rabbits if you go to the school. Them squirrels are bad too. The owner has a new gun. It’s an ak assault m-16 tec-11 sks 30-30. It can shoot over 10 miles so you can’t get away. They say he has a telescope mounted on it and can see 10 miles . He has moved up to the top of the water tower and can see everyone who sneaks in. He’s trained his cows to circle you once your in and they all start pooping on you until you’re buried in cow poo. No one will find you because they don’t want to dig around in the huge cowpile. Thats what happened to Nicole’s friend. She’s in the cowpile to the right. At least that’s what the dead janitor says.

All of these stories were a great read on my boring friday afternoon at work! I have been to the school several times but never had anything supernatural happen. The only scary thing that ever happend was the first time I went out there with some friends. After driving for what seemed like forever we decided to turn around bc we thought we had passed it or something. When we went to turn around the car head lights flashed over the school and scared us to death bc we were not expecting to see it. Yes very lame I know. Most of the time when went out there we were more afraid of the cops and the guy that owns the land. The last time I went about 5 or 6 years ago during the day, I took a few pics of the front of the school(didnt get to go in bc a cop drove up). Other than a creepy old school there isnt really any thing in the pics that I notice. My mom has lived in Bossier/Shreveport her entire life so I asked her about it. She said that it was a school that was mostly black students and it closed down for normal reasons, no mass murder of students. If there is anything supernatural out there it is probably from all the stuff thats happened since the school has been closed. I have heard several stories from my friends that have been out there, but never seen anything myself. Even after all these years I still ike reading these stories. I wanna go back to the school but havent bc of the cops and the land owner. Maybe one day I will, who knows.

Drake and I am The Charmed one, yalls posts were the most interesting to me. I have lived in Bossier/Shreveport my entire life and always like reading about history of this area. I have always like finding out about old buildings in this area and have explored several and always like to find more to explore:)

Ok so here is thestory I was told when I first heard about the school. I was surprised I didnt see it on here….One day a teacher in the school was called to the office and when she left her classroom she locked the door so her students couldnt get out while she was gone. While she was in the office the school caught on fire. The kids were to short to climb out the windows so they were trapped in the room and burned alive. After the fire the school was closed down and never rebuilt. The school is haunted by the students who died there and if you go near the classroom they were in you can hear them screaming and crying.

Also I found this video on youtube. Its not my video but it shows what the inside of the school looks like

copy and paste the link and it should take you to the video.

Tara, I think someone caught the place on fire after it was closed but I have heard that story and it could be true. Satanic cults did go there some years back but all that has stopped now (so I’ve heard). I went to your my space page. Makes me want to be 20 something again, lol. My friends and I used to go to all the “haunted” places around here. We did have some wild experiences at a few of them. Then we all got older and got married and drifted away. The school is just one of the MANY places around here that are a little on the haunted side. One place is St.Joseph’s Cemetery down on Texas Ave. There is a blueish-white apparition that is seen around the center of the place and an elderly, grey haired,well-dressed woman has been seen walking the lanes in the daytime. (I’ve seen her myself) PLEASE don’t go there without a group, it’s a pretty rough hood these days. Keep in touch and let us know of any other places you go to. Drake

Drake~I think that the cemetary is actually part of a haunted tour that someone in shreveport was doing. Thats if im thinking about the same cemetary. I havent been though, and didnt really want to bc of where its at. 2 weekends ago I was out near Ellerbe road and wanted to drive by the school but ended up passing the road (I was on LA 1) and didnt realize it till I was too far past it. One of these days I will go back. I also wanna check out the old Caddo Parish Prison but havent gotten to yet. Im more afraid of our cars getting broken into than anything out there. Some of my friends did go out there a few months ago and said it was pretty cool.
