Old Lighthouse
The first owner of this old lighthouse was brutally murdered around 1872 and since then, the lighthouse has been haunted. The apparition is regularly heard going up the staircase. However, he is never heard coming down.

I lived on St. Simons and have heard all the tales. The lighthouse IS haunted. I have heard the footsteps after coming down the stairs myself and no one else was up there with me. I reopened the door and there was no one there. The light house gift shop has a book of the tales of the island and the history of the lighthouse. I do not believe the haunt is mean or evil, but just a wandering spirit that hasn’t left yet…I would enjoy actually seeing if I can catch the spectre on film and audio, amateur ghost hunter that I am. St. Simons is full of ghost stories and hauntings…the light at Christ Church…the girl looking and calling for her lover by the river after the hurricane in the 1800′s…the ghosts of Confederate Soldiers seen in and around Bloody Marsh…The Witch’s headmarker by Pink Chapel…the Hauntings of Pink Chapel ( It might have been torn down…small thing made of stucco…the roof timbers crossed where they met the walls and cast upside down crosses on the floor at the right times)
I have seen the light in the Christ Church graveyard…no one there…never saw the soldiers…and investigated Pink Chapel. There are many haunts on the island…and alot of history as well.

I’ll tell you guys something. This old lighthouse is not to be messed with. I visited this lighthouse about 4 years ago with a few friends of mine. My friend Michael went in to the lighthouse first and Randy and I waited for him outside. After 3 minutes, we left because we knew there was no hope for Michael. The next morning I read in the newspaper that a boy was found murdered on the staircase. I knew it was Michael. I feel bad to this day.

Hello, my name is Christopher Tyree Marshall. I think the story of the haunted light house in Saint Simon’s Island is very interesting. Ironically enough I will be heading there later on this evening through sunday. I am an aspiring Paranormal Investigator. Hopefully I will experience something paranormal!

The lighthouse is a few miles from my house. I used to go there as a kid. One time I even heard footsteps following me down the stairs when no one else was supposed to be back there. I was the last one out.

I live not far from st. simons. i really don’t think the light house is haunted….. and for another story of the light house some years back a lady committed suicide there she jumped fromt the top…. that is the truth it was on the news…. as for it being haunted though i doubt it…. have lived here all my life and never anything…… i am not saying that the others didn’t experience anything just i never have….
christ church is another place on the island that is supposedly haunted we investigated and came out empty handed several times…. i’ll need a little more convincing about those places

There is a lighthouse near my house that I think it is haunted. Every night there is a strange bright light that shines from the top of the lighthouse, usually from sundown to sun up. It just cuts on and off by itself. I never see anyone around the lighthouse. The light is silent and makes no noise… it’s just bright. Legend has it that back in 1877, when it was built, it had a light “beacon” at the top that would let sailors know they were close to land. The lighthouse had a “light keeper” that would walk up the stairs of the lighthouse everynight to light the “beacon” light. The lighthouse keeper has to be over 120years old by now and his legs are probably the size of tree trunks! Scary stuff!

I was born and raised on St.Simons Island,GA. I used to go to the lighthouse all the time over the years. I’ve heard all the stories ,but never experienced anything at all. A teacher at St.Simons Elementary committed sucide there, she jumped off the lighthouse about 10 years ago or so…Has anyone else heard about that?

Her name was Ms. Register. And she was the nicest teacher. I remember crying when I heard what she done. I couldn’t look at the lighthouse in the same way

When my great grandmother passed away, I saw this bluish-white light behind a door, then it disappeared… Also, when my parents went to spend the night in this house in Virgina, they saw a bluish-white light go through a wall. About 6 months later, they looked up that house and found out someone died from cancer about 2 months before they went there. If you still don’t believe this story, you don’t believe that peanut butter and jelly taste good together.
