okay i have went to the ghost tours for the last two years that mwr has every october which is a blast. the old movie theater i know is also haunted. the story behind that is that it is now a storage place for the new movie theater and they went there one night to pick up some stuff and the lights kept flickering so the called the m.p.s and they brought the k-9 and the dog woulnt even go in. (someone hung there self in the movie theater) also the main post gym right next door is haunted too bc one night a staff member was cleaning and closing up when all the sudden he saw calvery ghost ride through the walls on a horse and ride away through another wall. that only happened bc the gym used to be a horse training center type thing. thats all i know just if u want to do the ghost tour9which is about 3 hours long) ask picerne or mwr around october

the museum was never a private home or an orphanage, it was the post hospital from 1855 until 1890 when it became the calvary school headquarters then became a museum.

pretty_in_pink is right. The museum is about 3 miles away from the cemetary. The only thing close to the main post grave yard is two major roads and some officer housing about a mile or so down the road. I was stationed at Ft. Riley. I was a MP that worked the midnight shift for two years straight. I did plenty of walking patrols in the cemetary. Nothing wierd at all happened. Now Riley's Club is a different story.

Hey guys, I have a sad update. Tonight my husband and I were paged out through Rural Fire to respond to a fully engulfed house. And.. an arsonist burned down Hotts House. Just FYI, it is no more.

And on another note, the tunnels were for cattle. Nothing scandalous ever went down out there, but I know how the truth is often lame.

I don't remember this story being told and I used to live in Junction City which is near Fort Riley. I remember the story of Custer, the parade deck, some of the historic buildings and the cemetary from the ghost walk but no orphanage/museum story!

As I recall, living at Fort Riley, the story was that children would run around the cemetery at night bc...
back in the day a trail of wagons stopped because of Indian sitings. Two kids when missing and so did the mother (dressed in red) after she went looking for them. Supposedly you can see the kids run around or hear her calling their names late at night. my friends and i used to go there to play manhunt.

it is rumored that out by brookeville KS. there is a place known as HOTTS HOUSE, i myself have been there one time, but cant recall how exactly to get there. I do recall seeing some pretty wild things, such as water dripping from the floor to the ceiling. "they" say that it was based on an escape tunnel dug by the slaves to escape an abusive employer or whatever you would call a slaves boss. I would call them the owner but thats just how i am. If anyone knows the directions, or has information about this place im @ carl20041974@yahoo.com. Also interested in another place known as "zelda's", a place i remember here in salina, would like to know where that is as well.

First off i wanna say that I love your site. Even if the stories are un true they are still entertaning. I believe in ghosts and spirits as I have encountered some pretty freaky $#!+. But the thing i dont get about this story is how it resembles the Strawberry Hill story you have on here. Museums, Nuns, Orphanages, Lady in red. How do you get two almost identical instances in two different cities?
Also I wanted to ask if anyone new any other sites that has haunts listed by state, or if any of you know of any other hauntings in kansas. If so please e-mail me @ dickiesgirl2232003@yahoo.com

I am stationed in Fort.Riley. A buddie of mine had an inncedent at the Cemetary. While driving by back to his house on post he thought he saw people running around the cemetary. He pulled up to see why anyone would be there running around at night. Pulling up he can hear footsteps yet see's no one. He had his dog with him in the car and the dog went nuts. He soon left afterwards when his dog would not calm down.
