Real Haunted House

Quaker Cemetery

Worcester, Massachusetts

Called Spider Gates because it has eight gates, this cemetery is said to be very dangerous. Starting at the first gate it is said that one will hear whispers and notice leaves moving around when the wind is calm. As one gets closer to the eighth gate, it is said they will feel the sensation of someone brushing against them. Others have reported seeing people walking aimlessly around graves. As one gets closer to the eight gate, the sensations and images become so strong that most people faint. No one has ever made it to the eight gate. It is said that some have suffered massive heart attacks and died because they were over come with fear.

So, if all this stuff is true about the ‘gates’ and ‘hell portals’ – what about the town maintenance crews who mow the lawn? Are their mowers and weedwhackers impervious to paranormal phenomenon? I figure that if you’d die – there would be a hell of a turnover on the DPW of Spencer.

Hi,
Maine Ghost Hunters recently went to Spider Gates. We had a wonderful experience on the grounds. It was a peaceful and serene place. Very clean, very well kept, and very well cared for. There have been burials as recent as 2008 (so within this past year). So… let us address some of the rumors about Spider Gates

1. White Ooze – we did not notice any ooze anywhere in the vicinity. We did notice squished up mushrooms, however, and they seems to be blobs of liquid in certain places, but this was due to the rotting fungus. Nothing at all unusual.

2. The grounds are derelict or abandoned – This couldn’t be further from the truth. These grounds are immaculate and clearly cared for on a very regular basis.

3. There are 8 gates – Again, not at all true. There is 1 gated entrance to the cemetery, no more, no less.

A brief synopsis of the location is that it is a beautiful cemetery tucked back into the woods of Leicester, Massachusetts. It’s nothing short of a wonderfully serene location that is well cared for and currently in use by the Quakers who own it.

OK….let’s get a few rumors straight!
when I was a kid, everyone said there’s was a cemetary you could got to that had 8 gates of hell. If you jumped over the 8th one, you die… I’ve been there myself, there are pathways in which you follow to enter the other gates, it is the most uneasy feeling, I did not see anything however, beyond the 8th gate, there’s a huge cliff, if you jump over it….yaaa, you’ll die!
well Maine ghost hunters….I hate to inform you of your lovely story of it being so clean and maintained…you were not in Spider Gates.
There are may cemeteries beyond that!

Why don’t you go back and check them out!

i’ve lived in Worcester, MA my whole life and yeah, everyone thinks that Spider Gates Cemetary is haunted! Well it isn’t. Although it is very interesting to go and look around. Almost everyone buried in that cemetary lived before the Revolutionary War. And yes, the cemetary is guarded very closely by the Leicester Police Dept. and it’s very hard to get in there at night no matter how hard you try.

Why can’t people go into cemetaries? As long as your respectful of the place, clean p after yourself, and (of course), leave property intact- what is wrong. Cemetaries could even charge so someone could keep watch. Everyone in happy, and it could keep the place productive. I know that seems disrespectfl, but aren’t people doing it anyway, whether in the name of science, curiosity, or outright thrill seeking? This way we could preserve the cemetaies or historical sites which are being torndown, moved, and paved over for more profitable or convenient developments.

I’ve heard alot about this place, but I’ve never been.
It’s wierd, though, because I’ve heard of another “seven gates to hell” being in carlisle, ma on a few other websites and fro friends. Has anyone else heard of this?

I’ve been here, There are not 8 gates, only one. It is a creepy place, but i wouldn’t go as far as saying it is haunted. The cemetery is used for satanic rituals, you can see whip marks on the oak trees in the center.

There is only 1 gate with a spider on it that has 8 legs, Not 8 gates!!!!!

Has anyone ever had any respect before? This place is as haunted as the cemetery your closest relatives are buried in. Leave the place alone and go there to explore nature and old gravestones, not to be spooked out or cause mischief, It’s a place of rest you morons!

I have had a few unexplainable things happen to me but never actually seen a ghost before and what I saw back in 2006 at spider gates is still unexplainable to me but it was creepy. I met this girl who was reallt into ghost hunting and wanted me to prove myself so she sent me in by myself with a camera and walkie talkie, I felt fine not scared just wondering what the hell i was doing on a friday night. I got to the gate and she told me to look up the tree with the camera which was supposedly charged and when i got halfway up it died. So I left since I couldnt see a damn thing with no light. Then a week later she sent me in with one of her friends, again i felt fine and we saw nothing. I went a third time out of curiousity and even though i have been there 4 times before and never felt scared or anything this time was different i felt angry and clamy and when I got to the end of the first path where the opening and stream is, I saw in the distance where the fork is a glowing orange orb or light. I have no clue what it was but it wasn’t bouncing up and down like a person walking with a lantern and it was slowly moving from the left toward the gate. So I freaked not knowing what it was and booked it back towards the road, then I stopped and said no way I gotta see what it was and when I went back it was gone and that freaked me out more than seeing it so I left and didnt even go to the cemetary. Wierd.

I just had went to spider gates last night. took a long while to get there beacuse of the fact that it is set about a football field back into the woods after a yellow gate you go past which is trust passing. But we walked down a trail that looks pretty regulary used probly from the quakers the owners of Quakers cemetery a.k.a(Spider gates) bte the gates are not spiders its more or a sun looking design. but so we go threw the only gates in the place (the ones you enter) looked around its a very small place and there is an uprise in the middle were the old Quaker house was but nothing scary its all mental but id say GO!! its funn dont destroy the place i wish i could give you a adress but there isnt one its off it the woods by the airport! GOOD TIME and anyone to go there bring flash light its dark at night! thanks for reading!

im only 12 years old and i deffinatly know that if your a non believer and you go to a place like that you can get seriously hurt or killed because ghost will do anything to make you believe that the are there. So just a word of advice…dont be a non believer in things like this cause its real believe it.

Okay my family is buried in one half of the graveyard, my family owns the cemetary and it is private property. I have been to Spider Gates a lot of times and there is one gate and there has not been any deaths from heart attacks and my whole life, and my familys life in the graveyard no one has seen a ghost.

I was there one night and I saw ghosts, aliens, and even Satan himself appeared before me. Now I’m not sure if that was because this place is extremely haunted, or if it was due to the fact that the 6 hits of mescaline I took got the best of me. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you want to see ghosts, then you have to trip very hard!
