Real Haunted House

Resurrection Cemetery

Trexlertown, Pennsylvania

In the 1940s, a young lady lived across the street from the cemetery. After becoming infected with tuberculosis, the girl died and was buried in a white party gown. It is said that on dark nights, one may see a bright, illuminating figure of a young girl walking along the side of the road. It is said that if one stops, she will ask him for a ride home because she is lost. Once they get past the cemeterys property line, however, the girl disappears.

That sounds a lot like the story of Resurection Mary from Illinois. I live right there and its pretty much the same story except the girl was killed by a car when she was coming back from prom. I’ve never actually seen her but a person who is a very reliable source for me claims to have seen her.

That’s the same thing I thought of. It sounds like a combination of the old hitch hiker ones, and that one. If that’s the one I’m thinking of…Does Mary ask them to stop/disappear when they pass the graveyard?

I drive right by this cemetary once a week for work. I recognized the name from hearing it on Unsolved Mysteries, but I didn’t know that this one, as well, was haunted.

Creepy.

This stroy is not true. People would know if a ghost asked them for a ride. And even if the girl dissappeared when they got to the border line of the cemetery wouldn’t theghost say “Thank you” if she so politely said “May I have a ride”?

Ressurection cemetary is in Illinois not Pennsylvania. The same story is told in Illinois. The girl is known as Ressurrection Mary, and she died in a car accident. She was walking along Archer Ave. after leaving the O’Henry ballroom, now Willbrook ballroom, when she was hit by a car and killed right in front of Ressurrection cemetary. She has been known to be picked up at night while she is walking along Archer Ave. During the forties she would jump on the running boards of cars that were going down Archer Ave., only to vanish when the car approached Ressurrection cemetaries main gates. She has also been sene dancing at the Willowbrook Ballroom (use to be O’Henry Ballroom), and a number of men have danced with her. Jerry Paulus danced with her in 1939 and she asked him to take her home. He did so, but when they got to the cemetary gates she asked him to stop the car. He told her that it didn’t seem to be the right thing to do because it was late at night. She told him that where she was going he couldn’t follow. She got out of the car, walked to the main gates of the cemetary; walked through them, and then vanished.

Sometimes if I look out my window I see a bright light. If I yell down to it ,it runs away.

I heard about that on unsolved mysteries. I never really knew if it was true or not but that would be kind of freaky if it was!

There is a resurrection cemetary in Trexlertown, however I never heard the story referred to (exception of general lore elsewhere). Used to live up the road from it on Lone Lane.

Hey J,

I used to live right across from Air Products. Now I live in SW FL – small world! I never heard this one though… and it isn’t in the “Ghosts of the Lehigh Valley” that was published a few years back.

This is very true. One night while driving past this cemetary after I got out of work around 12 midnight, me and the person I was with has seen the illuminating light that looked very much like a girl walking along side of the road.

This is not true. It is an Urban Legend. Every state has it!
