I live right down the road from this. My mom and me were there when I was little. She said it was really "heavy" being in there.

My wife and I stayed there, we were the only guest there, your locked in until morning, if you smoke oh well..... I did not see, hear, or feel anything that night, and we stayed in Susans room an I also walked the hallways and stairs. I took video and pics and got nothing. When my wife made the reservation she asked if we would be able to ghost hunt and they didn't have a problem with that, until we arrived, was told to stay in the room???????????????? We will never go back.

The story of this inn is that it used to be a house awhile back. the richest family in the area lived there at the time. this one man married the daughter of this family because of her wealth even though she was hideous. rumor has it that he pushed her down the flight of stairs that is there right when you walk in. the fall killed her and ever since there she stays in the house and haunts room 11.

My wife and our son stayed at the Riders Inn, we didn't get any proof of the afterlife what so ever. I must mention that we were the only guest in the Inn for that night. I stayed up most of the night and took hours of video and hundreds of pics which produced nothing.

I have just came back from the Riders Inn this afternoon from my uncle's wedding reception. When i was in the bathroom alone, I heard someone using the bathroom in the other bathroom since there's only 2. Then my door flew open (even though it was locked). And when I was taking my 2 yr old cousin to the little room i sat down and there was a hand on my shoulder... And I had my cousin in my hands cradling her. And i turned my head to see and it was a hand figure and right beside it was like a big knit monkey in the chair looking at me. I have seen some blue and orange orbits. Otherwise Riders Inn is a very old place and the staff tell history all the timeabout Mr.Rider and Rider's Inn

Go to www.ridersinn.com or www.ridersinn.com/talefuldinners.html
Jason will be speaking on the paranormal at Rider's Inn each Friday in October. Dinner and the speaking is $29. This should be fun.
Do I beleive in it all? No -perhaps I will change my mind after hearing the speaker and talking to others. Regardless, legends and tales and mysteries are facinating just the same. I will be at one of the dinners on October 9.
Painsville does have it's history and legends. Have you heard of Stephanie of Lake Erie College from the 1800s? As the story goes, In the early years of this previously "all girls" college Stephanie hung herself in the bell tower of Lake Erie College. The bell still tolls today.......and Stephanie's screem still haunts Lake Erie College Hall which used to be the girl's dormitory. The 4th floor is now locked and no admission is allowed. The rumor is that Stephanie was expecting which was a terrible shame in years gone by.
Have you heard of the old Steele Mansion in Painesville. I talked to the former mansion caretaker. She said Steele mansion has 4 ghosts including an older man, 2 children, and one of the female chefs. All of these old mansions had servants at one time. The story goes that Horace Steele owned a bank in Painesville. Self inflicted fate eventually caught up to him as he was caught embezeling money from the bank. You want to see a Haunted House? Steele mansion fits the profile....be careful though...it is private property. Hopefully one day it will be restored....Save the Mansion! I am told that professional roofers accidentily set it on fire as they were trying to melt the heavy gigantic icecles from the roof with a blow torch.
All these sites are along the historical strip of Mentor Avenue in Painesville.
Hey - Give Elaine Crane a break. She has restored and preserved a fine historical establishment. Many people receive pleasure enjoying the history and legends as well.
