Satanic Cemetery
In this old cemetery lies an old, burnt church that was the site of Satanic rituals many years ago. Many have seen ghosts walking around the site which is thought to be on of the seven gateways to hell. Today, the area has been fenced off due to the large number of visitors.

Well, this board is a sad sight. I cannot believe people would actually post their stories/comments not even knowing how to spell or use proper grammar. This is why people need education. You should be embarrassed. Seriously.

In all actuality this is just a large fabrication by an attention hungry student journalist trying to get a spot in his university’s paper.
The only ’satanic’ thing happening in that area is wanna-be pagans trying to use the spiritual energy from ‘the 7th gate of hell’ to conjur… Well… Ignorance, basically.
Believe what you wish, though.

I went to the cemetery once, before the church was torn down. Inside the church, the creaking made me feel a little uneasy, but that was about it. Besides, the church WAS pretty old. To those who STILL want to go to Stull, you’re wasting your time. It’s really not that scary, and you need permission to even go to the cemetery. The coyotes will probably be the scariest thing you encounter, which makes it a waste of a night and a half-tank of gas. But, since you’ll probably not listen to me, find out for yourselves.

Um hate to burst your bubble here but this story was started by a student at KU for a class paper. Someone suggested they print it in the campus newspaper for a Halloween story. It was reprinted later in the Washburn campus newspaper where a friend of mine saw the story and told us about it while driving us to this location to scare us. I am 50 plus years old so we are talking about late 60’s or early 70’s for when and where this story got started. It was someone’s wild imagination helping him get a grade in a college class and nothing more. It never occurred to any of us to save a copy of this story because no one ever thought it would have a life of its own.
From what I have read here, there is little of the original story left except for the story about the bottles and the “Gateway to Hell”. As I recall that was what he named the story (at least in the newspaper) to get students to pick it up and read it. As for the tree I believe this was also in the story but I don’t remember what the story was behind it. It was a huge beautiful tree that was said to be more than 150 years old.
The tree was taken down in an attempt to stop kids from coming to see it. Same with the old church. I saw pictures of the tree in pieces and it was sad to think they had to take such an old tree out because of a wild story printed in a college newspaper. The idea the tree was inside the church is just down right ridiculous. Think about it if there was a basement or a cellar under that church then how or why would someone think they could grow a tree so the roots would grow to hell?
Some say that behind every story is a bit of truth. That makes this story the exception.
The story of the priest avoiding the cemetery just makes me laugh. That was certainly added years after the story was first printed.

it has been said that the church was very haunted but the people who said it haunted hadnt been there themselves i have talked to the people across the street of the old church and they told that they saw two people who looked like demons now i dont know if thats true but i asked if i could stay the night in my car and watch to see if i could see something myself and they said they rather i didnt but they gave in so i did and didnt see a damn thing so i dont know if the stuff they say about the church is true or not but i say i dont believe it untill i see it for myself

I lived in Stull for two years! It is freaky at night but in braud day light It’s just ridiculus. I know the old people who live across the street so they never called the cops. but if you want to expeirence the hautings it has to be at night.

I grew up at Stull. The cemetary is not haunted. I have several family members buried there that were very good Christians. The old rock church was torn down because of vandals and the stories. The cemetary is NOT the gateway to hell. If you approach a tree you will go to hell, you will not die going there. As far as eerie feelings, that is your mind working. Very upsetting to know these comments have been made.

I really appreciate everyone’s story, however, when some one (Jennifer as listed on March 6 2006) became so disrespectful of others, she should not have the right to be on these chat room at all. No matter who you are, what experience you had, it is still important to respect others.

Me and some friends went to stull in high school. We parked across the street at a church. we waited till there was no traffic and ran across the street jumped over the fence. there were some knocked over grave stones. every time a car came buy we ducked and hid when we got up to the church we looked around for the seven steps no luck. I would not go into the church but my friends did. we were drinking vodka and being stupid 2 of my friends decided to take a piss inside the church because it wasnt raining. they wanted to see if it would fall on the floor of the church. because What we read about the place said rain would not fall inside the church even tho there was not a roof and it did we took some stones from the church and on our way home it started raining and lightning hit right beside the road where we were driving and we got scared pulled over and threw the stones out. about a month later my friend looked up stull and found out the night we were there was the night the church got torn down so we were one of the last people to see it standing!

There is nothing there! I went there with a friend and was totally hyped up about it. We were able to go into the cemetery, but just because there was a resident that was in putting flowers on a grave site. It is just an old cemetery. its creepy because its old and the headstones are huge, but that is all. the church is rubble. Most of the tales behind it (like that the pope wont fly over it) are totally false. do your research before going out there. it is most definitely not worth a night in jail.
